Creating seating at the various restaurants for our 3-generation, 15-member family group was, at first, a challenge for restaurant staff, but they rose well to the occasion & made it work after the first few days, especially with he supervision of Nancy in the Market Restaurant & Munther Shawa, Head of Food & Beverage for the hotel; they were of tremendous help. I loved nearly everything about the hotel: the bathrobes which I wore every morning to & from the main pool for my 6 AM, 40-lap swim, the large walk-in shower (put a towel on the floor in there as it can be slippery), a large tube of tooth paste was a surprising addition to the bathroom toiletries, plus excellent body lotion (also a rarity) & shower gel. The variety of light switches & sensors throughout the room made for a bit of a challenge when it came to turning off lights as needed/wanted. Housekeeping staff was great with room cleaning & evening turn-down service (little chocolates included!), the enjoy-all-you-want-liquor shelf & the generous drinks/snacks in the mini-fridge, plus multiple comfy chairs & couches both in the room & on the balcony. Our jacuzzi were not the most powerful but the jacuzzi in one of our 3 sons' rooms was the perfect rainy-afternoon distraction for their 4 young kids. And what's not to love when there are full length picture windows on 2 sides of the jacuzzi so you can see out to the sky & your porch? Staff everywhere was friendly, most know a good enough amount of English, Alberto @ Guest Services was as helpful as can be, the gym is the most impressive one I have ever seen & 2 of our kids did full blown workouts every morning (super large, very well outfitted, clean, great lighting), the grounds are meticulously cared for, including such details as broom-cleaning the ceilings of the breezeways. The main pool gets same attention to detail with the hand-cleaning of its sides several times a day (thank you to Trainee, Carlos, for making chaise loungers available to our large crew every day). The pools next to the kids' club are a huge draw for kids (& adults!) of all ages (no drinks allowed to be brought there) with the "blob" being SO fun to jump up & down on, the multiple water slides, sprayers, nearby chaise lounges & lifeguard. I loved the Sweet Corner, where we enjoyed lattes, frappes, milkshakes, cinnamon rolls, muffins, ice cream & more with staff bringing in fresh inventory several times /day. Us grandparents enjoyed our morning coffees post-swim before the sons, daughters-in-law & all their kids woke up, did their workouts & then gathered for breakfast. Higher end alcohol is offered at the many, many (& I mean many) bars, which was a nice perk (Wences at the Aqua Bar puts together some great drinks), there are several soft ice cream dispensers, plus a great juice bar, several laps pools offering quieter spots for sunning, an adults-only pool & bar, the beach is fully tractor-cleaned every morning, there are tons of palapas on the beach, and the beachside Dunas Restaurant offers good options although the wait time can be long for a table & then your food. We ended our days watching the 8 PM live theater shows with such themes as Michael Jackson, Mario Brothers, Afro-Caribbean performers & acrobatics which our 7 grandchildren (from age 7 months to 8 years) all loved & ended at the perfect time for ALL of us to be ready to sleep after long, active days. Let me finish by saying that the food service & choices are a show stopper; the diversity of food, especially at breakfast (think: dinner for breakfast!) was both colorful, varied, healthy, fresh, filling & I cannot imagine someone not finding much to enjoy. I look back at my photos now & realize that there were food items I wish that I had chosen, even though I loved nearly everything I ate. I would gladly return to this hotel. read more

Such a beautiful all inclusive resort. It's about 45+ min or more from the airport, but it's in a safe location with the most beautiful water. Food is actually a 3.5/5 or 4/5 on average. The views of the ocean are amazing and staff are so friendly. We went on an off season, so it wasn't hard to snag a reservation nor did we wait too long. There's something for everyone to do. But, please bring bug spray and ointment because they will bite you EVERYWHERE! read more

For an all-inclusive, Finest has some of the best food by far. Even the buffet food was fresh, delicious, and plentiful. We had zero complaints about any of the food and will be highly recommending this resort to friends and family solely because of this. We came with a large group for a friend's wedding and had a wonderful time. If you don't speak Spanish, don't worry because almost all of the employees' English is top notch. Take care of your servers at the beach or pool upfront and they will make sure to provide excellent service for your whole stay. One thing I will recommend is to pay the little bit extra to get the Excellence/Finest club room as you have additional services available as well as a private check in/out, and special restaurants as well. We did find that the front desk agents were not always as friendly and this would have been nice to be able to bypass with the club option. We did not do the club this trip but will be sure to do so next time! read more

My girlfriend's bikini was mistakenly taken from our room's bathroom during a housekeeping visit the night before our flight home to the US, and Finest Playa Mujeres has been disrespectful, dismissive, and unhelpful since the incident. Initially, no apology was offered, and we were even blamed for her bikini going missing from our room. While Finest found my bikini top before checking out, my ~$100 bottom was found after we returned to the US, and Finest refuses to mail it back unless we arrange and pay for shipping ourselves. It has been nearly a month since the incident, and communication from the hotel has stopped entirely despite multiple follow-up emails. We would have expected Finest to take responsibility and make a reasonable effort to correct their mistake, but customer service has been abysmal. Finest, do better. read more

Beware of bedbugs!!! Worst customer service!!!!!! If you need consultation and medication you need to pay out of pocket even if its emergency!!!! My family and I stayed here for 5 days and 4 nights. We didnt left the facility. I never swam on the beach. We stayed most of the time in the cabana and beach chair and we only swam in the pool. I have been noticing bites on my back, groin, legs, under arm hand and neck. I have few benadryl on my own medicine kit. I went to reception and ask if i can speak with the doctor. Doctor explained to me that there is a fee of $120 us dollars. I went back to the reception I asked them for some benadryl. I told them thay I am a nurse and I know what bed bugs bite look like and all I wanted is just a benadryl or any anti histamine. Reception told me that they dont have medication and they need to do protocols first. I told them i have allergies and i just need anti histamine. They continue to refuse and says they have to do investigation. Worst customer service i have seen in my life. 2 25mg of histamine is all i need! read more

Today was our second full day on the resort. Christina from the kids club had a wonderful obstacle course set up at the beach today. Later we visited the kids club where they had a birthday party for our son which was so fun. Auryana and Maria were dolls. We had surf and turf tonight and Linda, carol and Ignecio (I may have his name wrong, I'm so sorry!) were the sweetest. They took wonderful care of us and had a sweet birthday surprise for our son. Dalel and Ana Paula have been total stars making sure everything had been perfect during our stay. Mary was very helpful in making a perfect cake for the birthday boy and his wild imagination of a cake. We were very happy with how it turned out, plus it was delicious. Every staff member we have come in contact with has been so sweet and helpful. They all really seem to love their jobs too which says a lot. Waking up to ocean views and winding down in the evening with a glass of wine out there felt like a dream. Dining was a highlight so many restaurants and not a bad meal in the mix. They CANCELED our reservation one month before our trip. They actually said the suite we booked, that's on their website, and you can still book.... Literally doesn't exist. It's nice we got refunded for a non refundable trip but I didn't want my money back. I want a vacation. Really just gave off either scam vibes or they overbooked and just dropped us. TLDR: Finest Playa Mujeres is a wonderful resort for multi-generational family vacations with exceptional service, amenities, and food. If you are looking for a low-key spot to relax, this is it! I had zero expectations when visiting Finest Playa Mujeres since my sister did a majority of the planning, so I was pleasantly surprised by how wonderful of a stay we had. We were staying with a few elderly folks and a whole rack of kids and every single person had a great time! A few things to note: Health and Safety: This is always top of mind wherever we go and Finest Playa Mujeres felt exceptionally clean and safe. We had a medical emergency while we were there and the staff was discrete, helpful, and empathetic the entire time. The guest manager Danel and attending doctor is absolutely amazing. The resort is very wheelchair and stroller friendly with ramps everywhere. Food and Drink: I've stayed at several all-inclusives in the past and was not expecting much from the food, but everything we had was pretty good to great! My children gorged on pancakes, bacon, hash browns, buttered noodles, spaghetti, cheeseburgers, quesadillas, french fries, and chicken tenders the entire week and loved every single meal. My husband and I especially loved our morning coffees at the Sweet Corner and the special Mexican menu at Lizo, Mexican Fiesta night, fresh BBQ at Dunas Beach House, and all the street tacos at the food truck. Can you tell we love Mexican food?! We didn't get to try much of the adult only restaurants and different bars because of kids...which leads me to the next point ... Kid Stuff: The Kids Club has a waterpark, big blob bounce house pool thingy, video game room, play room, dining room, and more. We never left our kids alone there but all of the staff seemed kind and experienced. They also have two small "Imagination" rooms in the main lobby area which helped with pre and post dinner meltdowns. They also had a bunch of great entertainment planned throughout the week from evening shows to crafts to painting classes at the beach and more. Beach: Fine white sand, soft waves, sea breeze, no seaweed, and clean, refreshing, blue water! I saw a few giant fish and a spotted skate swimming with my bare eyes. I'll start off with the positives! Concierge was great handling any of our requests promptly and were always very friendly. The pool servers were amazing! They often came into our private pool area to make sure we were all set too. We had a great time at hibachi and the food was so good. Highly recommend making a reservation right when you check in. The Brass steakhouse was also decently good for an all inclusive. The Mexican Fiesta night was also a hit with our 6 year old. So much fun. Now, onto the negatives and unfortunately for us, we felt like the negatives outweighed the positives and we won't go back to this resort. We stayed in a family pool suite (specifically room 1001). The room is in some serious need of TLC. The handheld shower head was falling off the shower wall, the couch had stains on it, the back slider door wouldn't lock, and overall felt a little dirty. I will say we have pretty high standards for cleanliness, so others may find it to be okay! Other than the restaurants listed above, we found the food to be very underwhelming. Loved all the fresh fruit though and of course, the gelato. We had an incident occur while we stayed there that honestly kind of ruined the rest of our stay. We have a little one who naps during the day still, so we had our 'do not disturb' sign on our door until after she napped. One of the days, I decided to nap with her in the kids bedroom while my husband and older daughter played in the pool. I had the 'do not disturb' sign on, so I expected to be left alone. We also had our safe unlocked because we were in the room and my husband was just outside at our pool. Our housekeeper ignored the 'do not disturb' sign and still entered. She did a little bit of cleaning, but also took some tip money from our safe all while I napped in the bedroom. Unfortunately I did not hear because we had the sound machine on for my baby. My husband said he saw her in the room cleaning and thought I had taken our baby for a walk so he thought nothing of it. Honestly, we're not that upset about the money because it was only around $50 that she took. We're more upset that she ignored the DND and entered while we were sleeping. Made me feel quite uncomfortable that it could happen again. I understand that we can deadbolt the door, but I didn't in case my husband needed to come through the front door because the slider was so hard to open. The hotel management did treat the situation pretty seriously initially, but never followed up with us after the fact. They said they'd contact us within 48 hours but never did. We ended up checking out a day early and management came out then to see if the incident is what caused us to leave early and if they could have done anything differently. Overall, I'm just not sure the resort should be considered a 5 star resort. That's just our opinion though ‍ We also rented a few items from Baby Quip for our stay. Concierge told us they'd keep the items at the desk to return to our Baby Quip host and I just found out that they put part of it in lost in found and the rest of it is "missing". Despite any perceived luxury or "five-star" reputation, the reality is far from acceptable, especially when assistance is required. My attempt to rectify a booking error--where I inadvertently reserved three rooms instead of the intended two through a third-party platform--was met with shocking disregard. Both the third-party and myself were subjected to abrupt hang-ups from the resort's representatives. This behavior is inexcusable for any business, let alone one claiming to offer a premium experience. The method of booking should not dictate the level of respect and assistance provided to a customer. While booking directly may potentially yield a marginally better experience, the pervasive issue appears to be a fundamental lack of commitment to customer satisfaction. I find it appalling to invest a significant amount of money only to be treated with such blatant disrespect. A cursory glance at the negative reviews reveals a pattern of dismissive responses from the resort's management. Their replies lack genuine empathy or any tangible effort to connect with dissatisfied customers and resolve their issues. There isn't even an attempt to offer escalation to a supervisor or someone within customer relations, highlighting a disturbing lack of accountability. Proceed with caution. Absolutely amazing. From the moment we were greeted with champagne at check-in to the final moments of our vacation, Finest Playa Mujeres lived up to every expectation we had - and then some! We stayed in the ADULTS ONLY, Finest suites, which apparently makes all the difference in the world (no surprise there lol). This resort promises 'bespoke luxury service' and that certainly was our experience. Room service = spectacular Cleaning/laundry service = spectacular In suite amenities (Yes Jacuzzi) = spectacular Resort activities = spectacular This resort primarily functions as a wedding spot (my exact reason for visiting!) but does a REALLY great job as a 'regular' vacation spot as well. I really appreciated being able to decompress from being a pretty Bridesmaid to a baddie on the beach, effortlessly ;) There's a resort app that really helps you navigate the campus, so you don't get lost! There's a lot to do/eat! My personal faves were the La Cocinita food truck (street taco heaven) and Shoji (Teppanyaki)...so good! Since it is primarily a resort for newlywed folks, you really won't find anyone in a bad mood LOL. I met a lot of cool people from around the world! I loved every moment of my stay here. I will say this review is from the perspective of someone without kids. This resort was a wonderful time as we were celebrating a wedding with our friends and what more can you enjoy from an all inclusive resort. I will say the food at some of the restaurants was quite bland and that's my biggest gripe but I know this can be expected sometimes with all inclusive. I will say they have great offerings of activities and fun planned for families but the adult areas are a little scarce. I do think another issue some of our friends ran into was the "exclusivity" of finest club amenities where they even kicked a friend attending dinner out of a restaurant they were dining at with other finest club members which I feel as I have attended other resorts with levels in status and oftentimes will let you bring them along to show them the experience so they will in turn want that experience more. Overall, though great service and I appreciated the fully stocked mini bar and room service. read more

What an absolutely awful experience. I've never paid so much to be treated so poorly. Tonight my wife and I went to join my family at the French restaurant on site for valentines eve. Not a single person was in the restaurant, when we went to join them they wouldn't allow me to because I was not wearing a shirt with a collar (my shirt was very expensive, incredibly nice, and just didn't have a collar). This is exemplary of the lack of aptitude of service at a place like this. I was treated like a degenerate. We were scheduled to stay at this resort from June 30-July 4, booked through Delta Stays in the Club Level Family room for nearly a week. This was meant to be a very special trip, and we had been looking forward to it for months. Unfortunately, our plans took a devastating turn when my mother was suddenly diagnosed with a rare and aggressive cancer. After being hospitalized, she was released into our care and is now in in-home hospice with just weeks to live. We understood the cancellation policy when we booked, but we hoped the hotel would make an exception or at least offer a resort credit given the extreme and heartbreaking circumstances. We even obtained a doctor's note from her oncologist confirming her terminal condition and offered to provide it as verification. We weren't asking for a refund, just a credit to use at a later time when our family could travel again. We were told that because we booked through a third party (Delta), their representative would need to contact the hotel directly. Delta did so, twice, but was either ignored or denied without real consideration. When we followed up with the hotel directly, the response was cold and shockingly unkind. My husband was told flat-out, "I don't care," when he explained our family's situation. This wasn't just unprofessional, it was deeply hurtful. We've previously stayed at Beloved, their sister resort, twice and had a January booking at the new Excellence Coral, which we have since canceled. We simply cannot support a brand that shows such little compassion. We are now out over $5,000 with absolutely nothing in return, and worse, the entire experience has added stress and pain to an already unbearable time. Sadly, I'm unable to rate the service or amenities of this resort - and now, I never will. I'm sharing this review not just out of disappointment but to warn future travelers: if you face any unexpected life event or emergency, do not expect empathy or flexibility here. I loved this place. From the moment I checked into the moment I left I felt like I was in paradise. Everybody here was super friendly. The food was great, the drinks were plentiful, and the entertainment was everywhere. Our room had a nice private pool and a really nice Jacuzzi. Brass steakhouse was a hit as well as Golden lobby bar and the karaoke place. Special shout out to the entertainment crew - Bryan (I hope i spelled it right) was outstanding. This guy was everywhere doing everything all the time. If I didn't know better, I'd say he worked sun up to sundown all week long. He always had a smile on his face and he remembered everybody. Next time I stay here I'm tempted to call ahead and make sure he's working when I'm there. Josue at the pool bar took great care of our group for the weekend we were around. read more

Stayed 4 nights at Finest Playa Mujeres for a destination wedding. Check in was quick and easy. I got a junior suite with an ocean view. It was very nice, with a huge king sized bed, hot tub, balcony, and i really liked the huge shower. Most everything in the resort is included with the stay, including room service, drinks, and restaurants. The food in some restaurants was definitely better than in others. An all inclusive resort is ideal for someone who wants to stay at the beach and pool all day, taking advantage of the many restaurants, bars, and room service. The service of the staff was excellent, and most spoke English very well. read more

3rd visit here and they completely f-ed us this time. I can't believe it. We booked a family pool suite for $8000 for the week. Also had THREE other families join this trip. Showed up Saturday and told us they were overbooked (how does that happen?). mind you I have an infant and a toddler and I wouldn't have come here if we didn't have that room. We also convinced THREE other families to come here this same week - total of 15 people. After much back and forth, I was PROMISED (by Oscar and Erik at front) they would give us a junior pool suite for two days and move our whole family again to a family pool suite but that we would get a REFUND for the difference between all the rooms due to our inconvenience. I didn't want to pack my family of 4 after 2 days and unpack again but I figured it was reasonable and appreciated that I would only be charged for the cheaper room. Low and behold we leave in 12 hours and guess what hotel wants to give us only BOOKING credit ... for 1000 dollars instead of a REFUND of 3k (which was the difference) between the rooms???? Ruining my last night as well as my first day. I'm in disbelief. Beyond disgusted with this place. Incredibly sleazy business practices. read more

Overall this is a solid semi-upscale resort for families with kids ages 0-8 years old. We loved the kids water park, the shows, drinks, coconuts, hibachi, room service, in room bottles, Mexican night, pools, and the steak house. The food is below average overall and lacks in too many areas to name. This place not for foodies. But if you want an upscale family vacay go here and don't second guess it. Next time we'll get a swim up room if we go back. We went to the Finest Punta Cana location last year...in our opinion, Punta Cana is better in service and food by far!! Playa Mujeres has better drinks and kids club. We also liked the entertainment at Playa although we didn't participate in any DR entertainment so we can't compare. We took our kids to both resorts, ages 1.5 and 4 years old. Service is SUPER slow at Playa...they need to work on that. Save up your coins and give this place a try!! read more

My wife and I arrived at the Finest Playa Mujeres on August 17, 2024, for a seven-night stay. This was our fourth visit to a Finest/Excellence resort. We have had the opportunity to visit other Excellence resorts, which include the Riviera Cancún, Excellence El Carmen (Dominican Republic) and the Excellence Oyster Bay Jamaica. The Excellence chain has always been consistently "Exceptional" and Finest Playa Mujeres' guests service was remarkable. Upon arrival, we were greeted with chilled champagne and a warm cleansing towel. Unlike most Adults-Only All-Inclusive Resorts that we have visited, the "Excellence Brand" is without question one of the best. The resort is eco-friendly, serving drinks without straws. However, we only saw recyclable receptacles around the pools but were non-existent in the lobby area and the hotel rooms. Finest/Excellence is now e-friendly. That is, guests can readily access hotel information by downloading the Excellence Collection app, which provides daily scheduled activities, restaurant information, such as their respective menus, hours of operation, as well as the resort's restaurants, bars, spa, etc. FOOD: The resort has more than 14 (fourteen) different restaurants. The food served at the restaurants was very tasty. Please note that the portions are small. However, you are more than welcome to order two of the Beef Tenderloin Steak, Lobster and Dessert etc. The dress code for men is casual for the majority of the restaurants. The only 2 exceptions would be the French and Japanese restaurants, which do require that men wear long pants, closed shoes (a nice men's dress sandal works) and collared shirts. However, these restrictions are not always enforced. ROOM: We reserved an Excellence Club King Junior Suite Oceanview room. Please note that the living room, bedroom and bathroom areas are semi-open concept. A floating half wall with mirrors above the double sinks is the only thing that separates the bedroom from the bathroom. However, the toilet area does have a "Privacy Frosted Glass Door". This affords privacy and blocks the view of objects behind it, while still allowing light to pass through. TELEVISION: Most of the available stations are in Spanish. However, CNN and Fox News are in English. The Golden Movie Channels, 5, 14, 15 and sometimes 18 always seem to feature Adam Sandler. Lucky me . Finest Resort provides extra plush robes and slippers, as well as Bvlgari products such as body wash, shampoo and body lotion. The light switches were a bit confusing at first. Also, the bathroom had motion activated lights at both the shower and the toilet. POOL: The resort has one large main pool that wraps around two swim-up bars. One half of the pool was kid/friendly, while the other side was adults only. Throughout the resort, there were at least three smaller pools and several Junior Suite Swim-Up Pool Room. Although we did not stay in this type of room, we noticed several couples enjoying their own private swim-up pool. BEACH: Finest Playa Mujeres Resort has a massive beautiful white sandy beach with plenty of covered cabanas. The turquoise ocean water temperature was like "Bath Water", not cold in the least. The beach is absolutely picture perfect, very much like you would see on a screen saver. One suggestion for Finest Playa Mujeres Resort would be to replace some portions of the decking between the pool and the beach. WI-FI: Our Wi-Fi experience at this resort was bleak. As a result, my wife and I were unable to stream our favorite show recordings (I am a current events junkie). However, we met several folks who had T-Mobile as their cell carrier and their Wi-Fi experience was completely the oppositive of ours . I also noticed that while we were at the resort, access to a rival online review page was blocked. At check-out, I mentioned my concern to Jonathan, the Excellence Club Concierge, who assured me that the Resorts' IT would immediately attend to this matter. read more

Really nice resort. Great food, the customer service is outstanding and the rooms are gorgeous. I was here with a group of homegirls. I would recommend this resort for couples since the rooms all have either a hot tub or a small pool. Really nice vibe with a boo but not with friends. I did have a good time here and stayed really well fed. The absolute biggest con is the sheer amount of mosquitos in the rooms. I had to have someone come spray my room every night. They are everywhere. In the rooms, in the elevators, all over. I was unable to enjoy my balcony because I would get eaten up as soon as I stepped out. Nothing really helped. A small con is that they dont have much night time entertainment. So if youre a night owl (like me) then you will have to entertain yourself after about 10pm. my family and I stayed here from the day after Christmas through New Year's Day. We were very very disappointed. Housekeeping was poor. But most disappointing was the lack of service at the Club level. We had three rooms, and obviously spent a great deal of money, but we may as well have stayed in the smallest rooms, based on the lack of service we received. I emailed and use the bot in the weeks preceding our arrival because I wanted to plan something special for my little granddaughter's seventh birthday. I also called four times and was disconnected each time. I never received a response to my emails. I talked to our concierge in the Club lounge the moment we checked in about doing something special in her room. He assured me it would be taken care of. I went back the next day, her birthday, to doublecheck and there was no record of my request. At that point I was told nothing special could be done for her because I should've put in the request the day before! I was beyond frustrated. For the last two days my son had to change rooms, something we knew ahead of time. He was out of his room by 11 AM, as requested. When he went to check into the new room at 3 PM he was unable to retrieve his bags. It took them two hours to locate them and that was only because my husband raced around the resort until he tracked them down with the Bellman who was busy chatting with another Bellman. I don't see us ever going to another Excellence or Finest property because I emailed customer service three times once back home, as well as the general manager of the property, and in the month since our return I have yet to receive a response. read more

During summer time so short staffed it sold be lleagal. Most of the restaurants closed on any given night leading to a fight amongst customers trying to get a table. You're only other option is a buffet, which is worse than your local cut rate Chinese food spot. Almost a catch all for anyone who cannot wait at a half decent place that evening. For example, if you show up at 8 PM and ask for a table for three, they will tell you there is a two hour wait. Unfortunately, they close at 10. When presented with this information they shrug. For the price you pay here, it is a sin. read more

My husband and I had the finest stay at Finest Cancun! Everything was fantastic from top to bottom. We stayed in the private pool suite and the room was very luxurious; both could use a little updating though. The linens were spotless which is something I am always paranoid about when traveling so I was very comfortable during my stay. The private pool was amazing and while we had people on either side we overall had a lot of privacy. All the restaurants were delicious, we particularly liked the Brass Steakhouse, Duke's, and Tino & Tapas. We mainly ate breakfast at the buffet, but it was nice to have some of the restaurants open for breakfast to switch things up. We always stopped by the little cafe for some iced coffee before breakfast which was really nice because every day was HOT. Last but not least, the service was 10/10 at ever restaurant, bar, pool and the service manager, D was incredible! Thank you so much for personalizing our stay and going out of your way to make it unforgettable for us! I've been to many different resorts in Cancun and nothing compares to this resort. I will continue to pick Finest for my family trips. From the moment you arrive they are very welcoming waiting for you with a wet towel and a mimosa. The staff is very attentive and very friendly they will go above and beyond to make you feel like royalty while on vacation. The food is very very good and versatile. There are many restaurants on the property that you can try. The shows at night are very entertaining and engaging. I will never choose another resort other than this one. read more

I do not recommend spending your money here. They have *some* staff but overall completely overpriced. The amenities are average and the rooms aren't bad but the food is subpar. We stayed here for a wedding and decided to show the group our room we were so proud to purchase and within minutes had the manager threaten to kick us off property a day before the wedding. We explained we were just giving a room tour and they wouldn't accept it nor any sincere apologies. The night crew is horrendously mean so do not get caught by them. If you need assistance, wait until the day staff arrives. Our room had SOOOO many issues with the hot water & plumbing it became comically normal. Did they try to refund us anything? Nope! What a great family vacation! We love the Excellence/Finest, resort chain here in Mexico and Jamaica. We've now stayed a few times and are never disappointed! This was our first visit with our son so we decided to stay at the more family-friendly resort for we mostly stay in the adults-only resorts. This was a great mix of adults, kids, and families. They have a kids club for all ages, my son only visited twice and each time he made new friends from all over the world and had a great time in their activity center. It is very safe and the staff is there to help with all the kids. The room was beautiful! Clean, big, fancy! We upgraded to a swim-up suite, so right out our patio door was a private pool for us. Nestled back behind bushes to give us privacy. This is the best room to have with kids because they can swim whenever they want to and they are right outside your suite door. We had a king bed and our son slept on the pull-out from the couch. Very comfy for all and had plenty of space for activities. Huge room! The only downside to the room was no bathroom door and the shower is full glass with no door. So if you are sharing your room with your "older" kids, be mindful of that. As always Finest resort accommodates to any type of diet or food restrictions. We ate at 5 of the different restaurants and the Asian cuisine I think was our favorite. If you can secure a reservation I reccomend the hibachi experience. It was entertaining and delicious. Second place is the steak house! There is always food available somewhere and it's good! Lastly, I wanted to talk about activities. Not only does the resort hold a ton of different activities throughout the days & nights at the resort, they have couples, families, and kid activities. So you can really pick and choose if you want to do something or hang out at the pool or the beach. Sky's the limit! Literally! There is no way to be bored. At the beach, they have equipment you can borrow for a handful of free things, but they also offer excursions through the company on the beach or the company downstairs under the lobby stairs. This trip we did 3 excursions. We went to The Xplor Park again which was absolutely fantastic, took a catamaran to the island Isla Mujeres, which was breathtaking and so much fun, and last we snorkeled around the sunken ship between the island and the mainland. One of our top family trips! Can't wait to see what the rest of this year brings. We will be back we just haven't decided on a location yet. My husband and I visited Finest Playa Mujeres for our honeymoon. Upon arrival we were greeted with champagne and because we were Excellence Club, we were able to sit down before being escorted to our concierge area. The staff are amazing here, everyone is kind, helpful, and open to giving recommendations. My reason for 4 stars was because outside of the Excellence club restaurant, Dommo, and the Hibachi spot, we just weren't into the food. I understand all inclusive isn't known for stand out food but after reading reviews of how good it was, we expected a bit more. What I can say is that the staff in the restaurants are outstanding and go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy your meal. It's also good to know what type of resort you're getting into. Finest is not part of the hotel zone, it's in a secluded area and you cannot visit the neighboring resorts. After day 3 we found ourselves a bit bored but that's likely because we aren't huge drinkers and aren't the type to sit at the beach/pool for hours. They do have a hospitality desk to set up external excursions for an extra fee if you want to get out and about. I think if you plan to just relax, this is an excellent option. If you are someone who likes to get out and explore, you may get a bit bored the way we did. read more

I would very much well come back again to this all inclusive resort. Service is fantastic and the activities were fun! Everything is very family oriented and activities were on a timed basis so you can try everything the resort has to offer. There are many restaurants here on property, but if I were to chose, I would only recommend Duke's Lobster & Seafood restaurant that sits in the middle surrounded by a big pool outside. Everything else is to your own judgment when it comes to trying out their other restaurants on property because I didn't really enjoy them. Although, you do have to reserve in advance and try the Hibachi located inside Shoji. This is a beach resort, so please indulge the beach while you're here and don't forget sunscreen. Also, DO NOT FORGET TO BRING MOSQUITO REPELLENT!!! That's a must lol. Personally, I loved the swim up pool to hotel room we had, the tennis lessons, riffle shooting, archery, bike riding, live entertainments, the BARS/liquor, and the everything free experience!!!! P.s. - since everything is free, pack your check-in luggage if you're the type to hoard liquor bottles because they refill those in your room for free too! read more

We have thoroughly enjoyed our time here and hope to return soon! Our room in the excellence wing for adults only was fabulous!! Stay on the first floor for access to the pool and your own hammock to relax in. All the restaurants are wonderful but our dinner at the French restaurant, Le Petit Plaisair was exceptional!!!!! The food is delicious and well plated but the service brings it over the top for an amazing and spectacular. This is a dining experience for the books!! read more

This is our third stay at an excellence resort, and our second time in Mexico. We had two rooms, a Roof Top 2-Story Terrace room in the Finest club building and a swim out in the Excellence Club. From start to finish the resort was accommodating and made sure any of our needs/ concerns were addressed. We did feel as though the check in process wasn't as VIP as we have experienced in previous excellence clubs, but not a total negative experience. I was to specify, those who attended to us in the Finest lounge didn't provide that VIP experience we are used to but the Excellence check in was great. The topiary was well taken care of and there were daily crews working to make the resort stunning. The pools and beach were never crowded and we didn't have to wait long for any table at the restaurants. We enjoyed our stay and of course the weather was beautiful! Here are a few highlights of our experience. Bike Tour: Lancelot led the bike tour and it was such a good time! I went alone on the first day and brought my family the next because I had such a great experience. "Sir" Lancelot was very knowledgeable about the surrounding areas and was a great conversationalist. He remembered everyone's name throughout the tour and made it a point to connect to each of the people on the bike tour. Sushi: Isioro gave us incredible service at the Japanese restaurant. We were sharing appetizers and he made note of that and made sure that we tried everything that was popular on the menu. He was attentive to our needs and had excellent table service. "Izzy" was one of the best servers we had at the resort. Hydrotherapy: We went to hydrotherapy as a family of five, which was an exception, and we were treated like royalty! Angel was our guide through the session. He was a great masseuse and was very knowledgeable about each station and it's effects on the body. Overall wonderful experience and we all recommended it! Legends: We stopped at this sports bar as a night cap and the bartender Omar was our bartender each night. He remembered each of our orders by the second night and was very attentive to our drink levels. Enice, his assistant, was also extremely helpful with cleaning, delivery of our foods and general help around the bar. Domo: This restaurant is for excellence club members only, but was well worth a try if you're able to go. We had Javier as our waiter and he was a great first impression of the resort. He, and the fellow wait staff, were on top of our needs and he made excellent recommendations. read more

We made reservations in June and received confirmation from "The Finest" that our wedding date for the following March was confirmed. We went thru the wedding set-up process, visited the resort, and awaited a response from our wedding coordinator, Christine Carles. A few weeks go by...nothing. We email and call...nothing. We try the front desk but they keep sending us to the wedding department and no one answers. Today is October 3rd and we STILL haven't received a response from the resort. Straight ghosted us. Okay so. I waited a while so my review didn't come off so heated but let's see how it worked. EVERY SINGLE STEP OF THE WAY from initial booking to check out was a GIANT pain in my butt. We were over charged and underserved. Let's start from the beginning. Booking. We had a booking code because my friend was getting married. The deal was you paid $1 up front and the rest was charged 30 days prior. It was also a discounted rate. I selected my room and went to hit "checkout" when I got to the final page, it had a different room selected. Weird. But I hit "modify" and carried on. When I finalized the booking it charged me 100% of the room rate at that moment. Apparently when I hit modify, it took away the whole deal. They would not refund or remedy the issue at all. So I was stuck paying the full rate with no cancelation protection or anything. Cool. Next I had gotten a bigger room in case anyone needed a last minute place. I went to add my best friend about a month before and they wanted the same price for her as my husband and I COMBINED. I called and asked for an explanation because the room was already paid for, we just needed to add a person & her resort fees. But they kept insisting it was the same prices as two of us and the room, just to add one. Oh. And for two less nights. Sigh. Okay fine, she'll just get a room off resort with two other girls & pay the daily resort fee (only $250/night). Now we're getting I to wedding contract fine print. When you book your wedding here, 90% of your guests HAVE to stay at the resort. This move made the wedding party over their limit. But wait, my room isn't associated with the wedding group so I don't count right? Wrong. When it's convenient for them, it counts. (This comes back into play later.) we end up booking a room on the resort for the 3 girls using my credit card (because it's cheaper than booking it directly through their site?) we arrive at the resort. At check in THEY ASK IF WE'RE HERE FOR ANYTHING SPECIAL. Forgetting the fact that we're with the wedding AGAIN. Our bags get taken to storage without any opportunity to change or grab items from them. And we're sent to the pool for 3 hours in our airplane clothes. We had to come back and ask about a room, they never informed us it was ready. We then had 15 minutes to get ready for the first event. Fast forward to the next morning, 9 AM kids running SCREAMING down our hallway. They stuck a married couple without kids DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE ENTRANCE TO THE KIDDIE POOL. So I went to the front desk and asked about relocating and they said yes!, for a fee. We were told room service was 24 hours and no where did it say that you couldn't order alcohol after a certain time but we were told no when trying to order a bottle of champagne one night. That pretty much sums it up. Was the hotel pretty? Yes. Were we greeted warmly and treated nicely by the staff we encountered AROUND the resort? Yes. Was the wedding beautiful and the couple happy? Yes Could you pay me a million dollars to ever stay here or any excellence resort ever again? No. read more

Pasting an abridged version of my TripAdvisor review here because I was sad to see so many negative reviews here! My family and friends had a lovely time staying at Finest. I've stayed at a couple other all-inclusive resorts around Cancun before and Finest was hands down my favorite resort. The staff truly made our experience at Finest spectacular. The resort is also extremely vegetarian and vegan friendly! ENTERTAINMENT / ACTIVITIES * Tennis Clinics - I'd highly recommend joining Alfonso's tennis clinics if possible. * The Entertainment Team members that we interacted with honestly made our trip. Carlos, Laura, Sam, Jorge, Lancelot, Aylan, and Dani played blackjack with us, set up amazing shows, danced with us by the pool, and made our stay at Finest an absolute blast. FOOD * Tinto & Tapas - As vegans, we had a lot of potatoes at Tinto & Tapas. * Seaside - This restaurant is only available for Finest Club guests and we absolutely loved coming here for breakfast. There weren't any vegan options on the breakfast menu, but our waiter, Wilbert, chatted with the chef and was able to create a vegan French Toast made with almond milk and no eggs. The buffet also included a variety of juices, the crispiest of hashbrowns, and fresh fruit which were vegan friendly. During one of our breakfast visits, head waiter Deny noticed our large group of vegans (we had a total of five of us), and helped us set up a special vegan lunch with Chef Roger where he prepared a fully vegan meal for us. * Las Dunas Beach House - This was by far our favorite spot to eat at. The restaurant is located right on the beach with a beautiful view and the most amazing staff. Deny let Chef Roger know of our dietary needs and he was extremely accommodating of them. We also received exceptional service from our waiter Ronaldo. We dined with Chef Roger, Ronaldo, and Deny a total of three times and each meal was different and exquisite. We had a stuffed cactus dish, coconut tapioca pudding, wild mushroom ceviche, vegetable sushi, vegetable Mongolian grill with noodles, a flavorful grilled cauliflower dish, a frozen apple dessert, a stuffed poblano pepper dish, and so much more. We had our last meal here at they brought out a beautiful vegan cake. Eating at Las Dunas also comes with some awesome live entertainment, the Black Sheep Band was particularly awesome. * Insieme Trattoria - This restaurant is located right above the pool and has a beautiful view of the beach. * Le Petite Plaisir -- we were told there would be a 45 - 60 minute wait which we didn't mind as we just went downstairs to Legends Bar to grab a snack (the bagel without cheese if vegan), drinks, and play some pool. When our table was ready, the manager Fernanda told us she let the Chef know we were all vegan and he prepared a special vegan meal for us. Chef Isaac prepared a five-course meal consisting of salad, the most delicious portobello mushroom dish I've ever had, a carrot ginger soup, a vegan steak, and a fancy sorbet with guava sauce! Everything tasted incredible and Fredy was a wonderful waiter. * Lizo - We had great service from waiter Ricardo and Chef Andres had ensured we had a lovely vegan meal. * Shoji - Out of all the restaurants at Finest, Shoji has the most vegan options available on their set menu. Of course, all of the restaurants we went to were very accommodating, but it was easy to just order off the menu here. * Finest Club Bar - I need to give a big shoutout to Daniel Martinez who recommended the best tequila for our group and even prepared special goodbye shots for us when we mentioned it was our last night. * Tropical Fruit Bar - Filipe at the Tropical Fruit Bar helped us with a fun game we played where we got five fresh coconuts and two were spiked with rum. * Room Service - The room service menu includes plenty of vegan options, however, this wasn't the best food we had on the trip. The vegan pizza, burrito, and fajitas were fine but they all use the same veggies and sauce. The vegan burger is a bit bland and the vegetables noodles were literally just drenched in soy sauce. It was so salty it was almost impossible to eat. But besides that, it was super awesome that there was 24 hours room service. It was great having multiple plates of fries delivered to your room when the late-night munchies hit. ROOM We booked a Finest Club room which was absolutely worth it. The Finest Club rooms are located closer to the main lobby, beach, and pool so it's extremely convenient. It also comes with premium alcohol, a coffee machine, and a private jacuzzi. SPA Booking a Finest Club room comes with a free hydrotherapy treatment which was a wonderful experience. I was a little nervous at first when someone mentioned you'd be going between hot and cold temperatures, but it was one of the best experiences I've had. I'd highly recommend getting the hydrotherapy. OVERALL -- I'm already dreaming about when I'll be able to make a trip back. read more

My family and I absolutely loved this resort! We were visiting to attend a wedding and we had a great time. All of the staff we encountered were so nice, friendly, and welcoming. The suites were big and I loved the views from our private balcony. The service was quick and thorough. The food at the restaurants always came out quick and was pretty tasty. I also loved how they had events and performances and activities to do throughout the week. Everything about the resort was so beautiful day and night. This hotel is beautiful and the staff here are exceptional. Our room was very clean and spacious. we ended up staying in a handicapped room because we had asked for double beds, but we're only given a king bed. The shower is a rain shower and also had a shower hose to use inside, and a shower chair in case you are traveling with elderly people. A couple of times we were left cute little towel, animal decorations by our bedside. An adorable little elephant, and a couple of swans with a heart. The food was delicious everywhere we went. I was especially fond of the French restaurant. There are quite a few restaurants to choose from on the property. Some require men to have collared shirts for dinner. no flip-flops for women in some of the restaurants, so bring a pair of dress sandals. there is a swim up pool bar, make sure you bring a waterproof plastic case with a cord for around your neck, to protect your phone so you're not leaving it unattended. The bartenders smile, and pour drinks very quickly. They have activities planned each day that you can partake in, or you can relax on the beach underneath a shady grass umbrella and a couple of lounge chairs. The sunrise is beautiful. The earlier you go to the beach the easier it is to get a spot. I didn't go to the spa. You can rent a Seadoo there for $70 half an hour. The water was really warm in March. We went there for a wedding. Everything was top-notch, including the pre-wedding activities at the Sky Bar, The tapas and drinks are constant, but make sure that you drink bottled water so you don't dehydrate. The Reception had a mariachi band, a DJ, latina dancers, and a limbo contest. This was the best place I've ever attended as far as weddings go. The DJ was top notch and played a good mix of Latin music and American music, & people danced from 7 to 11 PM. They were plenty of waiters and bartenders who took great care of us! read more

I stayed at Finest for seven days for a best friend's wedding. For many of my friends that stayed with us it was their first time at an all-inclusive, so I will try to include their experience staying here. The Good: -The staff: Quite possibly one of the friendliest and most professional I have ever interacted. Almost every staff member from housekeeping to front desk will smile and say 'Hi' to you every time you walk by them. Every staff member was required to wear a mask. -Housekeeping: I get the feeling cleaning staff visits our room to replace things as I have gone in and out of my room multiple times after using our towels to find clean folded ones every time I came back. -The rooms: We got a two-story Excellence suite with a plunge pool and did not regret it. With a balcony on the main floor and another above, there were options to go and chill outside. The upstairs balcony with the Plunge Pool is a must if you are going with a group. Also, Bvlgari toiletries: no explanation needed. -Kid Friendly: Plenty of options and fun things to do for the family and kids. There is an Imagine Lounge for the younger guest's entertainment and a kid's area. -Beach view on the property was phenomenal! -Though pricey, their spa staff and service was top notch! I got my complimentary hydrotherapy session which was really refreshing! The Bad: -Inconsistency: This ranged from food portions to services. While the majority of services I received were courteous and professional, I did witness firsthand the best man of the wedding (another friend of mine), get into a frustrating conversation with the concierge regarding day passes for guests of the wedding. She had a condescending tone and seemed annoyed about us asking questions critical for the wedding. -Wi-Fi: in certain parts of the resort (even in my room), Wi-Fi was slow or even inaccessible, which can complicate things since the resort has an app that includes everything from dinner hours/menu, activity schedule and more. -We had friends in our group that had men and women paired in rooms. For some reason, every time the staff pulled up their information, it always shows that it's the man's room, even though the room was booked under the woman's name and card. The Restaurants Market Kitchen: -This is your typical resort buffet-style restaurant that most guests swarm to during the breakfast hours. Nothing to really complain about here, the food was fairly average. Due to Covid, everything was behind glass and you had to point what you wanted to the point. They served a variety of fruits and juices which was a great way to jumpstart the day! Servers will come over to give you utensils and ask if you want any drinks in particular like coffee. I did not have the pleasure to experience it, but a friend that stayed with us mentioned that the Indian food they served during dinner was very delicious. Shoji: -By far the worst restaurant. As an Asian that has had authentic Asian food from around the world, some of their dishes were outright offensive. The ramen was an utter mess of uncooked thin noodles and chicken grilled separately and thrown in last minute. My yakimeshi dish was so bland and the meat had no flavor. The only decent dish I had was the tuna poke appetizer. I should also mention that the same noodles used for the 'Udon' mushroom soup at Duke's. Avoid this place! Tinto and Tapas -Wide variety of tapas dishes, not the most vegan friendly unless you love potatoes. Tropical Fruit Bar: -Great place to get fresh coconuts and fruit smoothies! Brass Steakhouse: -located upstairs above the ground floor, Brass steakhouse is Finest's go-to for the finer meats. Unfortunately, upon trying it ourselves, my friend's and I soon realized all their meats were unbearably salty, especially their chorizo. Le Petit Plaisir: -One of the fancier restaurants at Finest, Le Petit Plaisir dazzles the senses with Avant Garde French cuisine in an elegant setting with high ceilings and a spacious dining area. This was possibly one of the best restaurants I've been to on the resort in terms of quality. One thing to note that my best friend groom told us was that their portions are tiny so if you go here make sure to over-order. That being said, the inconsistency mentioned above was relevant to our experience. I had two friend at our table order the grilled salmon, but one salmon was practically twice the size of the other. Insieme Trattoria: -Located outdoor by the main pool area, this is the place for all things Italian, I came here the first night and got the beef carpaccio and seafood orzo, which was amazing. Lizo: -The Mexican restaurant of the resort. Nothing really to write home about. It was about as good as a standard Tex Mex place in the US. Overall, this resort is not perfect. Some things could be done better, but the good certainly outweigh the bad. Definitely not a resort for singles, but I highly recommend staying here if you are in Cancun with family/friends/SO. read more
