I spoke to A LOT of DJs at two of the bridal shows I went to in Charleston. I first met Burt and his wife, Nicole, at the Charleston Bridal Trolley Tour. It was amazing and their first year doing it, but I hope they can continue it for the future as I got to meet with a lot of great vendors and it was such a unique experience. But, back to hiring Burt...it was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. When I think of the vendors that were over-the-top professional, I think of Burt and Finger Snappin'. I met with him a week before the wedding and we went through everything from start to finish--it was such a thorough meeting, I felt totally alleviated of any stress I might have had before. Basically, we all know, a DJ can make or break your wedding. I felt so confident in Burt after our meeting and just couldn't wait for our wedding day. He was so accommodating and helpful with all of the music choices, and we also had his photo booth services for our wedding, which our guests loved! On top of that, we got uplighting and a personalized light display with our names, and light show for when the crowd started dancing, that we loved. The uplights were a LIFESAVER, since our main lighting vendor was a no show. Yes, it was hard for me to believe, too, since lighting was one of the most important things to me in creating the ambiance I envisioned. Without Burt, I would have been completely letdown, but because of him, I could relax on the day of our wedding. He was just so professional and everything was set-up when he said it would be, he got the crowd to laugh, dance, and he did an amazing job of introducing our wedding party and ourselves. Also, my husband and I were on the fence of whether or not to do a bouquet and garter toss and after meeting with Burt, there was a genius idea that got EVERYONE on the floor to try to catch those things! I actually surprised my husband and didn't tell him we were indeed doing the garter toss until we were at the reception. It was a big hit and one of the most memorable aspects of the evening. Literally, all the men and women came up for the tosses! I highly recommend Burt to those looking for a fun, professional Master of Ceremonies/DJ, that knows how to read a crowd, make sure guests are having fun, and lead the evening without being overbearing. It was like having the perfect narration to our evening, that helped set the tone and keep the pace of the evening going. Absolutely wonderful and so fun to work with! He is worth every penny--and it's true, your guests won't remember a lot of details of your wedding after, but they WILL remember the entertainment, so it's worth it to get the best! p.s. During my meeting with Burt, as I named songs that were important to my husband and me, Burt would agree and then knew the very year the songs would be released. I do not recommend anyone using this company after the experience I have had. For my wedding on 05/29/16 we had a DJ and Photobooth paid in full with this company. The DJ was ok, nothing special, his timing was off for the end of our ceremony but not the end of the world. However the photobooth experience is where my issues are with this company. We had unlimited pictures for 3 hours, the guy ran out of paper before my wedding was over. We were to receive 50 vinyl sleeves for photos which did not happen. One copy was to be given to the guest and one for us which was put into a book with glue. A 5 year old would have made this book look much better than the guy who ran the booth. We ended up with only 38 photos in this book and it looked aweful. After my wedding I looked over my agreement to find we were to receive digital copies of all the pictures taken. I have sent many emails to them and to this day do not have my copies. Most of my emails were not returned and some were with false promises that I would have my pictures tonight or tomorrow night at the latest. Customer service is HUGE for any successful company and this company shows they could care less! To say I am disappointed is an understatement! Our experience with Fingersnappin was distinctly average given some of the reviews I read. Burt was indeed excellent throughout the set-up and planning for our event, but he was not our actual DJ. My husband and I had spent a lot of time putting together some specific instructions for our DJ, who we needed to help facilitate the move downstairs to dinner, all of the specialty dances, etc. At the reception, it seemed she had not read any of our instructions beforehand as I needed to point them out to her on the form and explain what we needed done. She did a great job playing music, the dance floor was packed, but if you have any special instructions and Burt is not your DJ, know your instructions might not really be followed. read more

Fingersnappin' Entertainment was an absolute DREAM to work with. I used their videography, photobooth and dj services. They were all wonderful. Our video was perfectly edited and turned out great! I loved the montage of all the great moments, it is the perfect amount of time to show people without making them watch the whole thing :) The photo booth was a huge hit! It was such a fun way to get people involved in our wedding and such a fun keepsake for our guests and for us as a guest book. But most importantly Burt Lawson was AMAZING. He made provided music for the ceremony and DJ'd for the reception. His got everybody up on their feet and dancing! He even joined us in the crowd at one point which I loved! All the services that Fingersnappin' provided were at the top of their game and they made it easy to plan. I would absolutely recommend them for any occasion. read more

Not only did I hire Burt Lawson to DJ my wedding, but we booked the "Elite" package including photo booth, transportation, videography, uplighting, the works. He was responsive through the negotiation process, and even agreed with meet with us after we put down our initial deposit, but I grew weary when I learned that he had to take another day job to cover his losses from a broken trolly. After reading a few nightmarish stories about him bailing on brides on the day of their wedding (from reliable sources), I got him on the phone. He explained that he grew the business too quickly, and he lost a lot of money through trolley repairs, etc. He's refunding people's money for fall weddings, and he would address the spring weddings (ours is in May '17) at a later date. He seemed honestly humbled by the experience, and being the good human being that I am, I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt. Low and behold, since we last spoke, Burt has been featured on Fox News for bailing on a wedding at the last minute, and he deleted all traces of his website online. I'm currently in the process of disputing the charge with my credit card company, and as soon as I get my money back, he won't be hearing from me again. BEWARE: Do not book this guy for any part of your special day. He's a crook and a liar. read more

The trolley service was horrible all around, strongly suggest going with another company for your wedding transportation. The trolley started smoking inside (broken belt) five minutes into the trolley service with the bride and bridesmaids inside. We had to demand the trolley driver pull over as the cab was quickly filling up with smoke. It took the driver several miles to respond. None of the windows could be opened which is a recipe for a tragic disaster. The driver then wanted us to get back on the trolley and told us we just wouldn't use the air conditioner from which the broken belt was from. The cab still reeked of burnt rubber and smoke. There was no way we were going to get back on the trolley with our dresses and risk the chance of another incident. All of our lungs hurt from breathing in the smoke. We ended up hailing our own cab service as the driver refused to help us. Things continued to go down hill. They used their back up trolley to continue the wedding pick up which they told us was available and wouldn't delay the rest of the pick up. They were late to pick up the groomsmen and other guests causing the wedding to start 30 minutes late due to the driver going to the wrong pick up location! They also stated they would do as many back and forth trips in the evening as the guest needed which they refused to do. We had several couples that were relying on this which caused hardship and meant all the guest had to cram on one trolley at the end of the night. Many had to stand. The owner then had the gall to tell the groomsmen that the bride overreacted with the broken belt.....very tacky. . They are a safety hazard, save yourself and your wedding and find someone else for transportation. They also provided the music and photo booth, both of which were good. Sounds like most positive reviews of this company are for these services so it is good to know that they can do something well. read more

My wedding was in November and Burt was very responsive up until I paid. After that I didn't hear from him for two months until my step mom put him on blast and even contacted family members of his. He then told me he was going to sue me and get in touch with his lawyer for harassment and then completely switched his tune and gave me a sob story and promised me he'd show up at my wedding. It was very strange talking to him and I could barely speak over his sob story and finally was able to tell him that he was fired which he refused to accept. I disputed the charge with my bank and was able to get a replacement. The really sad thing that is if you just pretend to be a new client requesting services with someone else's number and email him he responds immediately. He must have been a good DJ at one point but he is really, really bad at running a business and is obviously in complete denial. He should know better than to scam people on their wedding days, that's a very sensitive day and I hope someone sues him and he finally comes to the realization that he is not a victim, the people he is scamming are. read more

As much as I enjoyed planning with Finger Snappin' Entertainment, as the end result I would recommend using another DJ. He played songs that were on my "do not play list", we had power issues and he stopped me, the bride as I was walking off to take pictures. I had wedding planners. The last thing a bride needs is to be worried about the power. I did not find this very professional. read more

this man burt lawson who owns the company stole $4,200 from my family. i booked him at least 10 months before my wedding which was this march 2017. we found out he went broke from other local vendors only a month before my wedding, by chance. he had zero intention of telling us he was never going to show up for my wedding. we had paid for 3 days worth of transportion for the entire wedding weekend for all out of town guests, and we had signed contract. we met him through another local vendor who had vouched for him, and so he offered us a deal if we paid him in full, in advance. little did we know he had already gone broke at that time, but he took our money knowing he was never going to deliver. after many emails, he promised to return the money and yet here i am, out $4,200 of our hard earned money. stay away from this man. read more

I took my intended daughter in law to a bridal show where we met Burt. She loved what he was offering so in order to get the elite package for his price I had to pay all that day. Well long story short the bride called off the wedding so when I contacted Burt he would only return a portion of my money and I was giving him 8 months notice!! He did nothing but kept half my money and probably rebooked the date. Now all I'm trying to do is get proof from him on how much he refunded me so I can collect the rest from the bride who backed out but his phone number you can't leave a message and I've emailed numerous times and Facebook messaged him and he won't get in contact wth me. I enjoyed planning with Burt and his wife Nicole throughout the process. In the end, we had several mix ups with the trolley regarding when and where to pick up guests. The trolley ended up behind and was late to the ceremony. It seemed there wasn't strong communication between Burt and the driver. We also had several guests that wanted to return home and they didn't take them despite us paying for unlimited rides. My fiancée and I found him unprofessional and in the end we would have chosen another company. I will say the photo booth was a huge hit, everyone loved it. Additionally, I also felt power issues between him and my wedding coordinator, and he also bad mouthed our catering company. I would forego this company in the future! read more

I spoke with Burt way back when I started wedding planning about trolley services and DJ. He was very persuasive and continued to contact me about booking. My now husband and I went to see the trolleys and really loved the inside of them so we booked 2 trolleys. We were told that they have air conditioning (as this was very important in the July heat) however may not work AS WELL with the heat and people on board but it does work. (Of course this was a question we would ask since most people were from the North and not used to the summer heat.) Let me just tell you...the trolleys air conditioning did not work AT ALL. When I wrote Burt about our disappointments he proceeded to write a very condescending, disrespectful email back to me. In it he included a part of the contract in the email which stated "Our vehicles have A/C, however with a lot of people on board, the trolley will tend to get warm inside the cabin and we not are responsible for any discomfort due to the heat. We will do our best to make you comfortable as possible." Which this clause should have been a RED flag from the beginning. Unfortunately myself as the bride and guests were sweating to death. He then responded with "All of them thanked me and told me that they had a good time. I guess they were lying right?" Now, what person with any customer service sense writes and email to the person that hired them disrespecting them like that? Extremely unprofessional!! He also proceeded to say we packed the trolleys full....which we were directed it holds 30-45 people and that is why it was hot. HOWEVER--on the bride trolley and groom trolley with about 8 people each the air conditioning was definitely not working at all. I would have definitely used my money for a more reliable company with air conditioning and who respects their customers. Now the next unprofessional occurrence was when our second trolleys headlight broke when we were to be picked up from the venue. He then sent a new trolley who was an hour late (and I have proof of this). It would have been easier for the other trolley to loop back around to pick up the wedding party rather than making us wait for an hour to leave and to reimburse us for the 2nd trolley fee. When I mentioned this to Burt in the email, his response was "The owner of that company busted his hump to make sure he got there at 10:00pm. He arrived at 10:10, because I got confirmation from him. So, yes, we was 10 minutes late, but at least he was able to help ME and YOU out! Once again, read your contract." The driver definitely did not arrive before 10:30pm, and I am thankful he busted his HUMP to provide us transportation services however it is a breech in contract when you cannot provide the services ON TIME as negotiated. Burt is extremely RUDE UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL. DO NOT HIRE! read more

Finger Snapping Entertainment did such a great job at our wedding. I was in communication with Burt for a year and he was always helpful and responsive. It wasn't until we sat down a few weeks out from the wedding that I knew the true reason why every other review I read about Burt was true. He was AMAZING!!! He answered all of our questions and concerns and gave us so many great ideas for song choices and even very unique garter and bouquet toss ideas. He showed up hours before the wedding to setup and make sure everything was in order and even when it started to rain he moved quick to make changes and even helped us out with moving chairs and linens. I didn't even have to worry at all about anything. He offered great advice as well that really helped us on our big day. I must say as the bride I never once left the dance floor. He played just the right music to keep everyone dancing and having fun! As far as the photo booth goes it was the best money we ever spent!! Our guests were in that thing all night and the best part is the photobook we got to keep to treasure all the funny, sweet and naughty memories! Lol!! I would recommend Burt and Finger Snapping Entertainment to my family, friends and anyone in between. One last thing.... The price was extremely affordable!! THIS REVIEW, IF I COULD WOULD HAVE ZERO STARS! Stay FAR away from Burt Lawson and this company. We booked him about 10 months out from our wedding, which was in August of 2016. We booked him for transportation, dj, and photobooth services. He was very responsive and was very excited to be a part of our big day. All things changed come time for our big day. My husband and I don't live in Charleston, so we had a full destination wedding as all of our guests aren't from Charleston either. We booked transportation for both our rehearsal dinner and for our actual wedding day. We were to have a limo bus (which he ranted and raved about) as well as a trolly for our guests. Come time to transport our guests to our rehearsal dinner in downtown Charleston, there was no limo bus. We were told by the driver that it broke down. So, he provided a trolly and a sprinter van. We get to the restaurant and find out from the guests on the trolly that the air conditioning was broken, the brakes didn't work (YES, you heard me right) so the driver would use the emergency brake to stop, the door would fly open on the highway, and the trolly would stall. My father called Burt and told him to provide much safer transportation for our guests and to have something else take us back to our hotel after dinner. Come time to leave, the trolly was waiting for us outside. We were forced to take that thing back to our hotel, which broke down after dropping us all off. Since my dad had called to complain to Burt about the transportation he was providing us, Burt decided to show up to the hotel that evening. He got VERY nasty with my father and decided to blame ME for the air conditioning not working in his trolly because I chose to get married in Charleston in August. SO unprofessional, this is something the bride does NOT need the day before her wedding day! The morning of my wedding the sprinter van was provided for transportation for myself and my bridal party to our venue, my father told Burt to not use the trolly today and to get another type of transportation. My husband and his groomsmen were to be on the limo bus, but Burt said it was still broken down so they rode in an old white school bus (it looked like a prison bus) with NO air conditioning to our venue. Then for our guests, he provided the trolly AGAIN! The guests arrive and the trolly breaks down at our venue...unbelievable! Unfortuantely, the horror doesn't end there! Burt was the actual DJ for our wedding and his father was operating our photobooth. His father was first in line to get food before our guests and was constantly at the bar ordering alcoholic drinks for himself. With Burt's photobooth, comes a photobooth guestbook. Burt's father was having everyone take photos and write stuff on the pages for us. I still have NOT recieved the guestbook and it's been almost 3 months since our wedding day! After our wedding, I gave Burt our address so he could ship us the book when complete. He told me his wife creates the books. Two weeks go by and still no book. I call him and he tells me a story that him and his wife are divorcing and that she was being spiteful and never actually sent our guestbook. He told me he had the book in his possession and would be mailing it out. That was 2 months ago! He won't answer my phone calls, won't answer emails. When I looked at reviews for his company, there weren't many negative ones. STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AND BURT! read more
