Not good! DO NOT GO THERE. Acid chemical incident 03/06/2025. My experience at Fingers and Toes was horrible today. About two weeks ago, I went to the Fingers and Toes location at the Bon Air Larkspur area. There I had a gel manicure done, today I went to the San Rafael location to get a regular manicure. Since I am currently expecting a baby and will have a baby shower celebration this Sunday, I wanted to have a fresh manicure for my special event. The gel removal cost was $10 and the manicure was $30, I paid a total of $40 for my service. The service was horrible because the desk lady that answers the phone decided to take me as her client. She started doing my manicure, kept getting up to go answer the phone then coming back and continuing, kept going to answer the phone and coming back. At one point in the process, she had applied some sort of clear liquid on the gel nail polish and left to answer the phone. She left me there without telling me that she had applied acid on my nails. (By the way, she didn't mind applying acid to a pregnant client on her nails). She left and I was so thirsty that I decided to remove my mask to take a sip of my water bottle, and the acid touched my ear and part of my cheek! It immediately started to burn and sting very badly that I had to get up and run to the restroom to try to get it off! The manicurist ran to the restroom to try to help me remove the stinging sensation, that is when I asked her what chemical she had put on my nails, and she revealed it was acid! I asked her why she didn't tell me that information in the first place? I told her that in these cases they need to tell their clients they have acid on their nails so clients do not touch their face, or any part of their body while they have the chemical on. She did look worried and really tried to help me get the stinging sensation to calm down. After about 10 minutes at the sink, applying water and soap, and even an icepack, it calmed down and we were able to return to finish the nails. Overall, total negligence! She was very negligent she should have warned me that she had applied a very strong chemical such as acid to remove the gel. If she knew she applied acid, she should have been more responsible and avoid leaving me there to go answer the telephone. I also asked her why they changed their protocol to remove gel, and she said that the acid was faster! In the past, they used to remove the gel with acetone and foil but today she decided to use this other way that turned out to be both scary and horrible. It stung super bad, and it really felt like my skin was peeling off. At the end of my service, she fully charged for the basic manicure which, like I said, was $30 plus the removal of the gel $10, making a total of $40. My service was very stressful and very different from what I've gotten there before. I'm never coming back to Fingers and Toes, and to all the ladies who decide to go there please be CAREFUL if they are removing gel because they can use ACID and not tell you what it is. (By the way, I wore a mask to protect myself and my baby from the strong smells at a nail salon or any flying dust, but ended up being worse, I accidentally ended up with some acid on my ear and my cheek) read more

I got a gel manicure that was disappointing. I sat in a chair and had to hold both dryers. So it was uncomfortable to say the least. Any manicure should be done sitting at a table. Then less than a week later one of the gel layers came off. I can't believe I paid money for it. read more

I went in and asked for a full set of acrylics and a soak off. She didn't fully soak off my nails and took nail clippers to remove the left over on my old set. My nails are extremely damaged under she cut me several times, and didn't even do acrylic she did dip powder and it was very uneven. Paid $80 for xxs almond. Immediately went into another salon to get them fixed they were very bad. Do not at all recommend this salon, customer service is terrible they are talking about you the whole time. read more

This salon is designed elegantly, they are very conscientious , regarding sanitation. The scrub and massage lotion are lovely. All the staff , are always so friendly and are talented. Location is good since it is in the Northgate mall, plenty of parking spaces. The ladies are nice and friendly but are NOT good at their job. I had a gel mani-pedi on December 31st, the nail polish were applied so thick that the next day it started chipping. It was not a relaxing experience as what I have expected in a nail salon. They don't have massage chairs, and it was so awkward when they did the manicure since they only have a couple of manicure tables. The color I chose didn't match the one they applied, I did point it out but they insisted that it matches. It was not just a total waste of money but also time. NEVER GOING BACK THERE!!! read more

As a longtime customer, this salon was my favorite. After being away for 6 months, I returned. The salon was almost empty, where before it had been full of customers. My pedicure began. I was never offered a glass of water. Or a magazine. The employee was occupied with speaking to another 3 seats away while doing my pedicure. No lotion. No massage. When finished, she asked me to pay the bill on the spot, even as my polish was still wet. Holding my credit card in hand, she bluntly asked "How much for tip?" Are you kidding me? She took my card and charged it, tip included. Never said thank you. Then she left me sitting, never to appear again. Where were my floppies so I could leave? I had to wait until the polish was dry. I put my shoes on and left. Avoid this place until they learn how to be professional, courteous and attentive to their customers. read more

For a nail salon that charges on the higher side, I would expect better service. I made an appointment for a pedicure and the lady who performed the service was quite rude. She set a timer when I sat down and did the necessary trimming and cleaning. The massage lasted two minutes and after she abruptly got up to remove foot bath and didn't return for a good five minutes. When she returned she asked what color and I had three to choose from wanting assistance with choice. She then threw the nail polishes around on the cart acting annoyed and said one of the colors was all used up (it wasn't). She then spoke to her co-workers who all kept looking at me like I caused a scene. I finally said "I'm done no need to paint" and then the woman changed her tune. I love that this shop is located in a plaza that has plenty of free parking. I like the decor of the salon. Here are the negatives, if you ask for a manicure and pedicure, they do them both at the same time. So you are forced to contort your body while getting your feet worked on you can't relax. Also I prefer a place with chairs that give massages electronically. The tech who did my toes asked if I wanted a design on my toes as well, sure and also paraffin. This upsell moved the price of the pedicure to $53. Add to that a gel manicure $40 and the waxing of my eyebrows $22. WOW!!! The woman here are always kind and do amazing work. highly recommend Tina for acrylics and nail health; and for waxing I highly recommend Tee, but all of the employees here are very talented. I have been going to Fingers & Toes in San Rafael for over 2 years. They use to do a great job. Customer service by the manager is rude and they over charge without notice - charging by the nail length. I have my nails filed down shorter, and they still charge me a higher price. I ask a question about it and the manager states, "I charged you the same price, even though a week after my nail started to lift from the DIP. The customer service is rude, you tell them your nails are not right (not smooth, shaped different) and always burn me when using the machine. They use to say sorry, not the attitude is oh well. I tip very well even when I receive bad service. They treat other customers who are white as royalty. Looking for another place. I think it is a sweatshop with poor management. read more

Let me start by saying the 2 stars are for Nancy since she did a great job with my gel manicure. She was very thorough and probably the nicest one among the 8-10 women that works there. Do not be fooled by how nice this place looks like. I received a gift certificate for this place so I had to give it a try. I am very much aware that vietnamese ladies that work at nail salons LOVE to talk amongst each other. That never really bothered me as long as they're doing what I am paying them to do. The women at this salon are loud, rude and cared more about the Vans shoes some lady must've just gotten and talked about very loudly for at least 10 minutes. The girl that was doing my toes was very distracted that she nearly made me bleed. I tried to ignore it but one girl came by and PINCHED THE EAR OF THE GIRL THAT WAS DOING MY TOES. What just happened?! I guess they were fighting by the looks on their faces. What if she accidentally stabbed my toes? It is absolutely unprofessional and it made VERY UNCOMFORTABLE that Nancy was noticing I wasnt relaxed. Salons are supposed to be relaxing and this place was not it at all. I was holding my breath hoping I wouldn't get stabbed. Lesson learned, I gave this place a try and I will never go back despite the great job Nancy did. I have been coming to Fingers and Toes, at Northgate Mall for years. There are a lot of great people working here. I love Thay, Gigi, and Kelly. Gigi, always helps me with the perfect color. I am not great at choosing the color myself. What stands out the most about this place and the kind of work they do is the nail shaping. Its always much better than other places. Also, I have a ton of cuticle, which gets removed here. They have an enormous amount of fresh products and seem to be on the cutting edge of styles. I am not young, but I surely want my nails to not look somewhat trendy. The gel manicure always looks fabulous and not super thick. The pedicures are perfection. They are open on Sunday too. Was going to not write a review because I believe just because I had a bad experience doesn't mean everyone will, but with the condition of my nails the day after getting them done I'm deciding to write it due to safety reasons. Yesterday I got a gel manicure and regular pedicure. My toes were done by a different person than my fingers. Both were PAINFUL. both nail technicians were digging at my cuticles.. cutting the same spot over and over. Both made me bleed and when they noticed this they stuck a piece of paper soaked in alcohol which burned to hell. Neither of them apologized. Today my cuticles are still sore and red. Getting your nails done is supposed to be relaxing not painful! Also I got regular polish on my toes, the woman that did my toes brought me paper flip flops as soon as she was done painting them. I didn't even get 5 minutes to let them dry. I was pushed out of the salon despite no one waiting and extra chairs being available. I will not be coming back here. Only came in because it was conveniently located at the mall. Please save yourself and go to somewhere where they actually care about their clients and notice when you're bleeding/having pain. read more

I have been going to Fingers and Toes Northgate for the past six months since I moved to the area. I previously went to their Mill Valley location for several years before I moved. I find both locations have everything I ask for in a nail salon -- clean and stylish interior, easy to book appointments and appointment times are honored (i.e. they are ready for me when I arrive), and skilled and efficient nail technicians. My gel manicures and pedicures easily last 2+ weeks and I'm always pleased with their work. I find their prices are justified and would recommend both locations. read more

I have been getting my nails 30 plus years . My manicurist is on vacation and decided to come here for a gel polish change and a gel pedi. Beyond disappointed when I heard it cost 90$ . The pedi was so rushed I never got a scrub or nothing more than a 30 second massage on each foot and that cost 55$?!?!?! One of the worst parts for me was the technicians and their aggressive handling of my body. Dropping my hands and feet after each step, pushing and pulling, grinding my cuticles, rotating my arms with no concern for my comfort. Also, the place is a mess. Each of my nails are a different shape and my toe polish is literally all over my skin. At one point, I was positive they were negatively talking about my son sitting next to me, one of the woman kept glancing up at me wondering if I noticed. I mentioned I didn't like the color she put on my feet after the first toe, she shrugged and proceeded anyways. They kept trying to upsell me every step of the way and it was $100 for a mani/pedi. Not really happy with my experience. I went last Friday to get a gel manicure and pedicure, and my brows waxed. Although everyone was very nice, the mani and pedi have already started chipping, and I am very surprised that the gel manicure is. They asked me if I wanted a shoulder massage, I said sure. I knew it would cost more, but they didn't tell me how much. It was a terrible massage. It was 15 minutes of someone touching my shoulders and arms. Nothing great at all. Then, while getting my pedicure, the woman asked if I wanted a leg massage. I said sure, also knowing it would cost a little more (but not being told how much), but then she came with a scrub and scrubbed my legs until they felt raw. It was not enjoyable. Granted, it is my own fault for not checking the prices, but I left there having to pay $135, plus tip. I am not happy with the gel manicure at all. These usually last weeks, but they are already starting to chip and peel. I usually go to a different place, but I had a last minute thing I was going to and they were booked, so since I was in the area I figured I would stop by here. Never again. read more

Lady doing my nails was rude and kept yanking my finger and cutting into my cuticle. I have a high pain tolerance so i didn't feel anything until I looked at my nail and they were bleeding. Yikes. Agree with the 2 star reviews unfortunately. I had high hopes for the place because I had an hour to kill before preschool pick up and how hard could a pedicure be, but for some reason the polish isn't hardening. It's still tacky 4 hours later. The put a fan on my toes to help dry and it ruined the polish. It's bumpy and looks like I did it myself. Boo :( read more

Mai RUINED my toes. I asked for a square toenail shape and clean natural (no polish) pedicure. She hurt me several times, but seemed genuinely sorry and as if she was trying to be gentler. She drew blood that I didn't notice until later when my toe was hurting. It's been hurting ever since. She dug so deep that she actually changed the shape of the white part of my toenail. She didn't exfoliate the sides of my toe where my shoe rubbed from physical therapy. It looks disgusting and I went there for basics--not even color because of my negative experience at the Bon Air location with horrible color (and and other) applications. Worse, my toes look WORSE than when I walked in there--just like the Bon Air location. If my nail bed and cuticle don't heal soon, I will have to seek legal action. This place is a nightmare and a toss up for who you get. They should feel ashamed risking the health and sanitation of human beings and charging $48 for a pedicure and subpar leg rub. read more
