We're both huge live music fans, and love to dance. We knew we wanted a band, and Night Train was more in line with our musical tastes than all the others we looked at, but we were worried it "wouldn't be for everyone", and that we should either get a more standard wedding band or a DJ. Boy, are we glad we went with Night Train! We had a very broad range of age and musical taste among our guests, and let me tell you that Night Train satisfied all customers. Our friends and family are still bringing up how fun they were, and the wedding was four months ago. At first, we were a little worried about not having much control over the set list, but it was no problem at all. Michael started a shared spotify station with us, and we posted songs we liked on there over the few months before the wedding. Based off that and a few emails, the band created a surprise set list for us that completely blew us away. I had a moment where I heard The Beastie Boys on the radio, and I was like "F! We should have put more of this on our station!" I didn't bother to get in touch with the band, because this was like a week before the wedding, and they had already done their rehearsals. Next thing I know, they opened the dance party with "Fight For Your Right". It completely set the tone for the rest of the night! Later, they played "Give it Away" by the Chili Peppers, and my uncle looks to me and says "I hope they play 'Love Rollercoaster', I love that song." I was like "Yea, that would be cool, but that's a pretty deep track (Beavis and Butthead movie soundtrack), so I wouldn't get my hopes up." ...They played it like 5 songs later! There was one more unreal coincidence with the set: I have a serious emotionally rooted family connection to the Footloose soundtrack by Kenny Loggins. I never mentioned this to Michael, and they didn't play anything from that album.... But they did play "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins off the Top Gun soundtrack, which might have been even better! You should have seen the air guitars going on in the crowd for that one! So long story short: let the band do their thing and you will not be disappointed. I think the set they came up with was better than anything we ever could have dictated to them. A few other highlights were the bride crowd surfing in her wedding dress to "Aerials" by System of a Down, which the band learned by special request from me (and absolutely nailed), a Guns & Roses guitar solo involving a leaf blower, the female lead vocalist's voice on pretty much every song, and the Metallica mini set that they played that literally sounded like you were at a Metallica show. I manged to get a bloody lip during that one. It was PERFECT! For what it's worth, I've been told that bloodied lips and crowd surfing are optional. Good times and great dance parties are NOT!

The band can play soft or jazzy dinner music, then transition to rock the party and keep the dance floor filled all night. We liked the way they mixed it up especially with both male and female singers. They also were good about emceeing (MC), reading the crowd, keeping the guests feeling part of the action throughout the evening. For example they announced we were cutting the birthday cake (and then sang), let us thank our guests and later called up some of our friends to come up and say a few words. They were professional throughout the process. Lindsey answered all my questions. Jesse even came to see my house a week prior to the party in order to plan for the best possible set up. Then just hours before the party, the outside bartender I hired cancelled on me. Lindsay went out of her way and found a local one that really helped us out. The band showed up with plenty of time to set up before the guests arrived. They had a good range of songs in the playlist and they honored a few requests. Having such a great time, we ended up paying to them to stay extra time, which they did. My guests loved this and stayed on the dance floor until it ended. You will be happy you had them perform at your event!

They perform here regularly, as well as at other locations in and around the south bay. The musicians did their thing on the guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and of course, Cheryl Scales keeping the crowd in good spirits with her jazzy vocals. They brought some soul, funk, and upbeat tunes on stage during their 3-hour performance (with several breaks in between sets). A nice treat on a warm evening while dining on some yummy italian food.

His memory is truly a blessing, and this group carries on playing fun tunes--amazing what can be played on banjos. They play ALL music, songs that you think can't be played on a banjo. You can't play "Can't Help Falling In Love" "New York New York" or "Country Roads" Right? WRONG! I can't believe it. There is always some comedy element to the shows with a funny joke or two thrown in between songs. And the way the band handles the occasional "Heckler" in the audience, who wants a railroad or some obscure song, or tries to bribe the band with "Big Bucks" is hilarious! I have attended many of their performances (they call practice sessions) and ALWAYS have been amazed at what I heard. As Steve Martin said: "There is no sad banjo music!" (Except for "Green Green Grass of Home"-song I did not know could be played on a banjo.) OK, I'm done-YOU GOTTA CHECK THIS BAND OUT! Performances are free, as they are all volunteers. Dave put together a timeline which totally helped calm my nerves and gave organization to the whole day. We had about 150 people and the dance floor was always packed. He did an incredible job keeping the pace for the entire wedding. We played everything from current hits, country, Latin/salsa, and oldies. For the months following the wedding we had many guests say how much they loved the DJ and what a great job he did. Such a great job that my boss was at my wedding and wanted him as a DJ for our company holiday party that I was in charge of planning. The holiday party went as perfect as we had expected. We had our youngest employee 21 years old, and our oldest 64, on the dance floor all night. To me this was a sign of HUGE success. The fact that no matter what age and what type of music you prefer you are on the dance floor. It was such a great feeling to have people come up to me in the office on Monday and compliment the DJ. The first time I used Chip was for my daughters birthday in June of ...2020. It was our first of…read moremany Covid birthdays, but my daughter was turning 12 in a new part of the state and wasn't able to go anywhere to celebrate. So instead, I hired Chip to DJ a virtual party!! And it was an absolute BLAST!!!!! We sent out glow kits to all invitees and blew up over 70 balloons to have in our house. Chip DJ'd some great music and took requests, he kept his phone on him so I could easily send in requests or ask him to mute guests He was lively, friendly, welcoming and an incredible host! His set up was awesome and he had lots of changing colorful lights. Skip forward to a couple years later, my son had a dance party for his 8th birthday and we hired Chip again to be our DJ!! My son was sooo excited! We played lots of games and my son got to play "DJ" which was awesome! His party was in person. Chip was on time, FUN and so cool with the kids!! All the neighborhood kids still talk about it to this day. Chip knows what he is doing! Such an amazing time we have had when Chip is around! Honestly look forward to planning parties where we can have him come and DJ for us LOL!
