My daughter tried their New England clam chowder and she said it was excellent. We got the calamari to share. It was perfectly fried. I Tried their sauerbraten and it was so good! The cheesesteak is always good and that's what my guy usually gets. We ended our meal with some dessert which was also very good. So we went as a large group of 11, 9 adults and 2 children(under 4 years old). Nice large dining room that could use an update in the decor. Fried calamari, coconut shrimp and French onion soup were delicious. Many had steak which were perfectly cooked to desired temperature. Others had pasta with chicken piccata, penne vodka with chicken and a French dip sandwich. However the side dishes of baked potato and twice cooked potato left a little to be desired, too dry and the over cooked. The bill was appropriate for the quality of the food and number of people, about $50.00 a person (that's without tip). The service was attentive and spot on. Fireside dinners never disappoint. We arrived on a Friday night around 7:30 and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Jean, was a doll! She was perky, kind, polite, and made excellent recommendations. At her suggestion, we tried the Cosmo drink, which was solid. I had the cod dinner special, which had a horseradish crumble on top alongside a lemon sauce, excellent. For the side, I selected the twice baked potato, which I must say, is the single best bite you'll taste in all of Rockland! It's creamy, rich, and flavorful. It came with a salad. My friend had a burger, which she really enjoyed. The decor was festive without going overboard and ambiance unhurried. Between 2.5 - 3 STARS so I'm rounding up. My husband & I found this place thru a quick google search after a hike at Bear Mountain during our vacation recently. We were looking to find someplace with pretty decent food and a nice view (if possible). We were hoping this was it... When we got to the restaurant we requested one of the tables with a "view". I kinda pointed to a bunch of open tables right across from the bar not realizing there was a whole additional section in the back away from the bar (which probably would've been quieter & I would assume, have better service). Unfortunately, the woman who seated us failed to mention or offer that. The waitress came & took our drink orders & as she walked away I noticed my fork was dirty with some caked on gunk (f'ing gross!!!)so I grabbed a fork from the table behind. The new cleaner fork had flat prongs. Very strange. Anyhow, the waitress came with our drinks not long after & we ordered. I got the 7 oz Filet Minon & it came with one side & a salad so I ordered the sauted spinach & added a baked potato (for an add'l $4. ) Note: the online menu has the price listed as $27. but I believe it actually was around $32. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-well but there was NOT a hint of medium anywhere to be found. Can't send a well done steak back to be uncooked so I had to live with it. The steak was average for a "Filet". The sauted spinach was actually really good. My husband ordered a Salmon dish (I believe his dish was also priced higher as well). He thought it tasted fine. The waitress checked on us one time only throughout the meal. I had to flag down the hostess/waitress who originally seated us to request to-go boxes. Finally, the waitress made an appearance & we were able to order a dessert to split & a coffee for me. Got the coffee pretty fast but the dessert took a minute. Had the hot apple pie a la mode which was really good as was the coffee. We asked for the check upon finally getting the dessert & then I actually had to get up & go to the waitress myself to hand our payment to (if we ever wanted to get out of the place)! And on the way back from the bar area, to my seat, I tripped up as the floor is uneven & almost flew into our table. Ugh!! Um yes, embarrassing...They really need to put up a sign to warn others of their uneven floor cause if you're not a regular, you won't know about this. An accident waiting to happen! **Also, be aware, their menu states there is an add'l fee for Credit Card payments (something to the tune of 3.99%. We paid cash. And also it states there is a fee to split dishes. Final thoughts - The food was okay (but overpriced imo for a bar restaurant). The view might've been better if the windows were cleaner or less foggy? The service could've been way better. We were there on a Thurs just a little before the dinner rush so really no excuses as it was not crazy busy. The servers/staff all were nice, at least. read more

Went to a local eatery that I had enjoyed the personal pizza at and decide on some entrees. Started with the mozzarella sticks and they were crunchy, as I love them, and the marinara sauce was a good accompaniment. I had the penne vodka and chicken. The pasta was Al dente and tasted good. Went to Fireside on 8/29/2021 with a party of 10 people. I had not been here in years and now I know why. A few points on why I give it a generous 2 stars. The salad is served family style. After serving it to each individual at our end of the table one of the guests found a piece of brown glass in the salad. Fortunately she was not cut as she bit down, but this could have been a horror show. When the waitress was told about it she took the glass to the back, and returned to say that it must have fallen into the salad dressing as it is mixed in a large bucket. No manager/owner came out to apologize nor was that customer offered anything like dessert, a discount, or a glass of wine. One couple (the same one who got the glass in the salad) ordered Onion Soup, and they never got it. Since it was a large group the one bill was divided up and I would bet we were charged for it. I ordered the Veal Chop along with one other guest. Both of us agreed it was dry and over breaded. A big surprise since it was one of the specials. The servers were not very attentive, however they were all busy eating at the table behind us. Real classy. Not rushing back anytime soon. read more

The thin-crust pizza was incredible, highly recommend. We live in NYC and the pizza here tops most of the joints in the city. Service was also very friendly. Separately, the owner Tom is a really good guy. My wife and I got lost after hiking nearby and ended up walking on the highway on foot. Tom saw us and gave us a ride to our car 2 miles away, saving us a long and precarious walk at night. Leaving two stars because the food at least tasted good. Went with my boyfriend and his mom to celebrate his birthday back in January and we couldn't even get a drink menu! The hostess sat us down and brought us water right away. However, our waitress took 15 minutes to come and take our order. We asked her for a drink menu and she said "there isn't one, what do you want." This was accompanied by a nasty attitude; almost as if she was upset she had to serve us. She almost threw our two cokes on the table and never came back. A busboy brought our food out 20 minutes later and when we were done, we still sat with our empty plates and cups for 45 minutes before anyone came to check on us. The restaurant wasn't very busy and our waitress as well as the hostess and other staff members walked past us, looking at our table full of bones many times; none of which stopped to offer a drink or dessert menu. We addressed our concerns with the hostess before we left so the waitress could be addressed and be better for the next table and were met with more attitude and condescension. Absolutely love Alexandra and Victor. Came in during this crazy rainstorm when half the world lost power but Fireside stayed open. Even with half the power running the staff was still in the best mood and super accommodating. They made me a special green martini that was delicious and for my taste went down way too easy ( ha ha ha) . They also made me a custom sandwhich to PERFECTION. I just want to make a point to remind everyone that this was during a rainstorm/flood when people were losing power and the staff still came into work with smiles and took excellent care of their customers. Not sure why we keep coming back here. It seems to be the only place that has a decent crowd and some life in the area after 8 PM. Food is pretty bad. The tap beer is usually pretty bad. Everyone drinks bottles or mixed drinks. Bar crowd is lively with sports on TV. Pizza is horrible. Pasta Primavera is overly boiled vegetables over overly boiled pasta with absolutely no flavor. I think this is the best kept secret in Stony Point. The food is delicious and varied. I just love when the chef tries something new. The service is friendly and you feel like you are part of the gang. It's a pub with high end food. My only caveat is that the bar area gets very loud as it is in the center of the restaurant. Wow. this is an old haunt of mine. Haven't been here in a while except for a catered repast after a funeral. Food was ok then. Came in for dinner the other night and I have to say the waitress could not be any more disinterested in us. My beer sat empty for so long that I went to the bar and asked for another. The Bartender was very attentive and poured me one immediately. He didn't hand it back and was courteous enough to bring it to the table. All this time the waitress was sitting in the bar area watching TV. 6 bucks for a stella is pushing it. $5.50 is the most I've paid and that's at higher end establishments We had wings which were ok. They brought them to the table ( a runner did, she was watching TV still) with no blue cheese. I think I had eaten half the wings before he came back with it. We had ribeye Steak au poivre, which we sent back because it was over cooked and the au poivre sauce was a color of gray ill call it, and the steak was smothered in it. The second steak, sans sauce was rubbery and very fatty. I know a ribeye is a fattier cut of meat, but wow. Half the steak was lard. I had a a chicken dinner that was overcooked but it was late and I had no interest in waiting longer as we had an hour and half drive home. Like others have said, friendly hang out and I sometimes run into old friends there when I get down, but I wouldn't go there just to have dinner. I've never had this waitress before but she needs to step up her game. Maybe next time Ill try a burger. who can screw that up. read more

I enjoyed myself at a benefit I attended this Saturday at the Fireside. With so many people, I expected the food to run out and taste like a cafeteria had prepared it. I was there to help my friend, so I figured who cares? Well I was really wrong!! The food was excellent and plentiful! Chicken francaise was my favorite, Everybody loved the salad, so fresh and green. The pastas were delicious too. We especially admired the professionalism of the wait staff, led by 2 lovely waitresses. Efficient, friendly, and sweet. Busboys were hustling, bartenders were fast, even with a full house!
