My sister and I were on a decent motorcycle ride and a gas station attendant recommended this place for lunch. Diana served us on the outside patio. The food was delicious and came out fast. Diana was extremely helpful and pleasant!

Fireside dinners never disappoint. We arrived on a Friday night around 7:30 and were seated immediately. Our waitress, Jean, was a doll! She was perky, kind, polite, and made excellent recommendations. At her suggestion, we tried the Cosmo drink, which was solid. I had the cod dinner special, which had a horseradish crumble on top alongside a lemon sauce, excellent. For the side, I selected the twice baked potato, which I must say, is the single best bite you'll taste in all of Rockland! It's creamy, rich, and flavorful. It came with a salad. My friend had a burger, which she really enjoyed. The decor was festive without going overboard and ambiance unhurried. There's also a bar area with excellent pizza, if you'd rather just have a beer and watch the game. This one's a winner.

This place is a gem! The food is your typical bar food but better. The service is very accommodating. Price is very reasonable. Food was delicious and quick. The star of the show has to be their personal crispy pizza. This place puts caramelized onions on their pizza (when requested) and I've never had that before. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur and I was very impressed. I would come back her for the pizza. If you are in the area, give them a try!

Between 2.5 - 3 STARS so I'm rounding up. My husband & I found this place thru a quick google search after a hike at Bear Mountain during our vacation recently. We were looking to find someplace with pretty decent food and a nice view (if possible). We were hoping this was it... When we got to the restaurant we requested one of the tables with a "view". I kinda pointed to a bunch of open tables right across from the bar not realizing there was a whole additional section in the back away from the bar (which probably would've been quieter & I would assume, have better service). Unfortunately, the woman who seated us failed to mention or offer that. The waitress came & took our drink orders & as she walked away I noticed my fork was dirty with some caked on gunk (f'ing gross!!!)so I grabbed a fork from the table behind. The new cleaner fork had flat prongs. Very strange. Anyhow, the waitress came with our drinks not long after & we ordered. I got the 7 oz Filet Minon & it came with one side & a salad so I ordered the sauted spinach & added a baked potato (for an add'l $4. ) Note: the online menu has the price listed as $27. but I believe it actually was around $32. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium-well but there was NOT a hint of medium anywhere to be found. Can't send a well done steak back to be uncooked so I had to live with it. The steak was average for a "Filet". The sauted spinach was actually really good. My husband ordered a Salmon dish (I believe his dish was also priced higher as well). He thought it tasted fine. The waitress checked on us one time only throughout the meal. I had to flag down the hostess/waitress who originally seated us to request to-go boxes. Finally, the waitress made an appearance & we were able to order a dessert to split & a coffee for me. Got the coffee pretty fast but the dessert took a minute. Had the hot apple pie a la mode which was really good as was the coffee. We asked for the check upon finally getting the dessert & then I actually had to get up & go to the waitress myself to hand our payment to (if we ever wanted to get out of the place)! And on the way back from the bar area, to my seat, I tripped up as the floor is uneven & almost flew into our table. Ugh!! Um yes, embarrassing...They really need to put up a sign to warn others of their uneven floor cause if you're not a regular, you won't know about this. An accident waiting to happen! **Also, be aware, their menu states there is an add'l fee for Credit Card payments (something to the tune of 3.99%. We paid cash. And also it states there is a fee to split dishes. Final thoughts - The food was okay (but overpriced imo for a bar restaurant). The view might've been better if the windows were cleaner or less foggy? The service could've been way better. We were there on a Thurs just a little before the dinner rush so really no excuses as it was not crazy busy. The servers/staff all were nice, at least.

The oil ended up being a little overpowering and took away from the flavor of the shrimp. I also got the Lomo Saltado, which is a classic and something I order almost every time I come here. It never disappoints -- the portion is great and the flavors are always on point. Overall, the food is still very good and the menu has a lot of great options. I'll definitely continue coming back.

The food always tastes fresh, well-seasoned, and thoughtfully prepared. The rotisserie chicken is juicy with crisp skin, paired perfectly with classic sides like rice, beans, and vegetables that don't feel like afterthoughts. The takeout special is an easy win -- generous portions, great value, and ideal for sharing. Add the yuca fries (extra, but worth it) for that crispy-outside, fluffy-inside bite. Service is friendly and efficient, beer is cold, and the space works whether you're sitting down or grabbing food to go. It's an excellent stop after a hike or an easy neighborhood go-to if you're craving something comforting and flavorful. Highly recommend.

We haven't been here in a while so I was glad to see this place hoppin' on a Saturday night. Luckily the wait wasn't long, less than 10 min. As we are now into the months with an "R" in the name, I was sooo psyched that IPSWICH WHOLE BELLY CLAMS are back! They are only in season during the colder months and aren't usually found in restaurants around these parts, but Gilligan's has them on the menu so I always impatiently wait for them to be available. They are gently fried and were fresh and plump, as were the mussels I also had this evening. I went for my usual LOBSTER FOR ONE which rests atop a mound of mussels & clams, while my family ordered fish dishes topped with other seafood, and all were delicious and fresh. The Maine lobster was cooked perfectly and very tender. Fluffy, crusty, freshly baked warm bread is always served at the table. Read my previous review for more details as it was pretty thorough, but worth mentioning again that they have a large and diverse menu so the seafood-averse can also feast on brick oven pizza, pasta, steak & ribs, chicken, salads, burgers & sandwiches. But the seafood is the highlight and what I come here for. We also pick up their excellent and bountiful Tuesday carry-out specials on a regular basis and it literally feeds my family for days. What's more, prices are still very reasonable even after all these years! Staff are nice and accommodating. We always love it here.

Tony and I stopped by the other day on the way back from a day of shopping at Woodbury Commons. If you head over to Playa, I recommend sitting outside (if it's good weather) OR in the bar. Karen, the bartender on the night we visited, is amazing! As for food, everyone automatically gets chips and salsa upon arrival (the way it should be). And stand outs for us included the single-layer nachos (we added chicken as our protein), the combo plates, and the fajitas. The sauce on the fajitas was some of the best we'd ever had. I think it must have been árbol chiles and guajillo chiles (?) that gave the dish such a rich, orange color. But our minds were just blown by how good the fajita sauce was. Oh, and we ordered the mixed fajitas (shrimp, beef, and chicken). The combo plate I ordered including a Beef Chile Relleno (yum), a small Been Burrito (yum), and a Chicken Enchilada (yum). OF COURSE it was served with rice and beans (more yum). It just blows my mind why such a combo is hard to find in all of NYC.
