My ex husband and I were seriously struggling just to put gas in our vehicles. We were having to miss work without pay, in order to spend the night at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Then the police department demoted my ex husband for falling behind on his case files. Talk about stress!!! I spent countless hours crying out to God. We both felt alone and abandoned by the church we were attending. I volunteered at the same church for 12 years before my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. She was only 10 years old when all this began. I wasn't willing to beg our church for help so we just struggled with no support from the church members. I was too embarrassed to beg our pastor for help with groceries. Then my ex husband started working on his days off at 2nd Mile Church. The owner of West Side Auto Body called Pastor Cal at 2nd Mile and told him our situation. The members got together and took up several love offerings for us!!! We didn't even have to ask, beg, or plead for help!!! Keep in mind that we were not even attending services there. My ex and I were just trying to keep our daughter alive. We were so discouraged and depressed at that time. Well, God had mercy !!! God used Pastor Cal and 2nd Mile Church to help us when we needed it most!!! Yes, we had health insurance, jobs, and supportive family members but we were still really struggling financially. The stress was unreal!!! 2nd Mile took so much stress off of us!!! They didn't have to help total strangers. Fast forward 2 years. My daughter is 17 years old and still in remission. My new husband and I now attend church at 2nd Mile and we love it!!! This church found my family and helped us when we needed it most. I could never re pay them for all they did. If anyone needs to feel God's love then give this church a visit.

He questioned everything about us while literally looking us up and down. He let us know it was morally unacceptable that we had been married previously, and asked if we had taken time between marriages to heal and how long we dated etc. He questioned our salvation!!! Mind you, we were there offering a free service that he advertised a need for! We didn't come for a job, or an interview, or to have judgement passed upon us. This pastor is a rude, legalistic, arrogant little man and shouldn't be trusted with matters of leading people to Jesus, teaching them biblical truth, or anything spiritual or moral as he is a hypocrite.

Clemons had a vision that would bring four Churches together under one umbrella; Mount Calvary Baptist Church, previous location Kenny's rd. Springfield, Tn. and Covington Chapel, Orlinda, Tn. Little Star Springfield, Tn. and First Baptist Church of Adams, Tn. His vision was a success, with a nice size congregation. His Choir and musicians were made up of his 15 Children one deceased. The building they had decided to hold worship would be in the building belonging to First Baptist Church 119 N Adams, St. Adams, Tn. 1901 under Dr. A.J. Moore, who was deceased, some of the older members of the First Baptist, under Pastor Kirby and later Pastor G. Fisher who then called the Church little Star Missionary Baptist Church were still presently holding worship in First Baptist Adams, Tn.... Along came Pastor George Lee Clemons founded this new Church in 1977 and had given it a name; Star of Calvary missionary Baptist Church.... Pastor G.L. Clemons served in the Preaching/Pastor field for some 50 to 60 years preaching the Gospel and serving as an well known Pastor in the Baptist Association Little fork Northern middle Tenn. Southern Ky Cumberland river district., later sharing his pulpit with his Asst. Ministers; Emmit Jones, Johnny Ray Clemons, Thomas Demetrius Scharkley, George Ray Clemons, Dexter W. Clemons, Brown, Quinn Clemons, Aundray Clemons, Paul Holland, Brian Henry, Ernest Dewayne Cook, Jarvius Turnely. (11 and counting). His Oldest biological grandson served as his Asst. Pastor from 1979-2009 namely Bro.Thomas Demetrius Scharkley DipTh, and was one of the pianist, youth director, Sunday school teacher, etc. all up until Pastor G.L. Clemons' health failed due to complication to diabetes.... The Church then began to go through trying times in need of a Pastor, many members fell away from the Church, many joined other Churches, the membership "have not recovered since". The two in mind for the Pastor position After Asst. Pastor Scharkley had step down allowing God to work as he chooses, were; Pastor Dexter Clemons former Pastor of New Mt. Lebanon and Pastor Johnny Ray Clemons former Pastor of (1) 2nd Baptist Ashaland city, (2) Hickory Groves Gallatin, Tn. (3) Bridge Hill Cross plains, Tn. all for a short time. It was mentioned by Pastor J.R. Clemons that the Church should try him for at least a year. The Church did and because of biological family members, he had been their Pastor up until now. As mentioned by some of the members, they look forward to building a new building and bringing Star of Calvary and it's membership back to its former glory, seeking to do even greater things in the Adams, Tn. community. 2013 Pastor G.L. Clemons is presently 86 years old not in the best of health, but he is still the greatest inspiration to all that belongs to Christ, giving words of encouragement to young lay ministers, Pastors and Moderators as well as to any Church members regardless who they are, my grandfather a legion of all time.
