So thought I bought cheap bindings but Robbie helped me realize my bindings were step-through rear- entry bindings that allow me to quickly get in/out of board without having to undo/redo straps each run. For 10 years, I've never had a more efficient time boarding until Robbie taught me how to use my bindings properly. I also needed replacement discs that he didn't have so he called another shop that had them in stock and sent me their way. Before leaving, we talked winter sports and Snowbowl tips like the best place to park (Lot 4). I bought a quick machine $5 wax and stomp-pads. The boots smelled HORRIBLE. The owner was very rude to me when I was returning my equipment, had a tiny spec of snow on the board and he told me to take it outside and dust it off which i did, told him have a good night thank you, didn't reply to me and acted like I didn't exist then got super mad at me that I didn't clean the bottom of his smelly boots. This place is unreal!! Small shop but awesome vibes and COLTON is absolutely killer. He guides you through the process and makes sure you have the best care. He'll laugh and joke with you the whole time while you (like my boyfriend) fumble through trying to figure out what you need and make it such a fun experience. Worthy of 10 stars! I am a repeat customer because of the great treatment I get every time I go to first chair rentals! Robby, the owner is phenomenal. His crew including Alex and Ray are amazing! Most recently I took my lib tech in for a full tune because I rode it into the parking lot and hit a patch of cinders which destroyed my base layer. A day and a half later I picked it and it was like BRAND NEW! I try to frequent all the local shops in flagstaff but usually find myself back at first chair because of their great service! Absolutely terrible business practice. After being told by an employee that both demo days would count towards a demo board purchase, I bring the board back and am told only one day would count or I could pay almost the price of the single day "demo discount" for repairs for a minor scratches that would have been buffed out by new wax. I was also lead to believe I was purchasing and was charged the price of a new board and not the rental version, it was only discovered that it was the rental version after being pressured to purchase the board by the employee (huck knife rtl) which is of lesser quality. I used to frequent this shop with me and 6+ friends almost every other weekend for the entirety of the season. After this experience I will never be returning and have convinced my mountain buddies to never return either. The shop is also extremely misleading, advertising full equipment rentals ( don't expect any googles or helmets availing) as well as Salomon demo boots with the demo board, however what was given was probably 100+ day Burton normal rental boots. In a town such as flag it is hard to believe that there are such rude and lying employees as found at this shop. I know the shop or owner will never do anything to write this wrong as they solely prey on traveling tourists and neglect their local clients. Go to this shop if you want to be fitted and swindled by the narks of the mountain. Shops like this truly ruin the sport. read more

I've used first chair the past few time I've been to snowbowl and they have always been so helpful getting me and my friends set up with gear and snowboards. Robbie really knows how to adjust the gear to you and your comfort ability. On top of that, their gear and boards are kept in good condition so that you're renting quality. 10/10 recommend First Chair for snowboard rentals (as well as ski rentals). I lost my board in the mountains and unfortunately had to pay out of pocket due to the lost board (which was expected). First chair was very very kind and understanding. They did not make me feel worse than I already did about losing the board. Thankfully the snowboard was recovered the morning after and Ken the owner, spent a solid 25 minutes making sure we were able to have the board brought to them instead of making us drive to get it. Ken also gave us a full refund and was just a really kind and made the whole experience very pleasant. Definitely will be coming back to try skiing in the future -Karla R. read more

Frustrating experience. Guys who help give your boards were really nice and chill and have good advice. Service was quick although also chaotic. But they won't refund even if you bring stuff back early. And they say they'll give a voucher but when I asked for one he told me he left the vouchers at his house and would have to get them if I wanted one. Seemed like he really didn't want to help out with a voucher/refund whatsoever. Frustrating because plans change up on the mountain sometimes so idk why if I return the items I'm still charged for another day. Id recommend going somewhere that refunds if you decide to cut trip short. Snowboarding/skiing isn't cheap. read more

I'm giving two stars because we spent $100 to rent and went to Snowbowl just to turn back because it was to busy and prices went up. We were gone maybe an hour and a half, our boards never touched the snow. We told them what had happened and asked for a refund... they denied us so we donated to their business. We also bought merchandise from them so it wasn't like we were trying to be rude and refund it all we just wanted the refund on the boards. The only proof of no refunds was a sign on their wall, they do not tell you to begin with and I think that's very important to share. I was told other places would of refunded me. read more

Steer clear! Rented Skis and boards for a day. They never set the boots in the boards to make sure they fit well and once on the slopes there wasn't much to do. The front straps on 2 of the bindings were just to short to secure around the toe. The ski bindings weren't even close to sized to the boots. So it took an hour out of the day to get adjusted. So we return the gear at the end of the day and tell them what happened and they just didn't care. We wanted some kind of concession for the inconvenience and all we got was attitude. There's plenty of options in town. Pass this one up. read more

Came in and rented some snowboard gear. The gear itself was fine and the workers were helpful. It was a little disappointing that they didn't rent gloves so I had to buy a pair of gloves that cost almost 70 dollars. Other then that, the snowboard pants, jacket, goggles, and helmet per person probably came out to around 30 or 40 bucks. We retuned the gear later after we were done snowboarding and it was a quick and easy drop off process. Parking is very limited so keep that in mind. I would most likely go through this company again to rent some snowboard gear in the future. read more

Kids working the desk were friendly and helpful. We noticed a small non structural crack(their words) in a snowboard and took it back the next morning. They promptly swapped it out very apologetically. The Owner left a voicemail stating WE cracked it and WE WILL be charged $200 for it after the fact. When returning equipment on the final day they didn't even inspect it and when the owner said "we inspect everything", we pointed out that they just put our stuff back into inventory he got tongue tied and ended us charging us half instead. Per many other reviews on this, google and facebook these guys are just out to grab money with no processes in place for quality control or transparency. Renter Beware ‍ Edit: Owner always seems to come back with "There are owners, and there are renters". He obviously does not respect customers just looking to rent. First Chair rentals simply put is the best value ski shop in Flagstaff Arizona. I was able to rent skis, poles, boots, and a helmet for less than $35. Any other rental location in Flagstaff will end up costing you more than $45 for what I used. The staff was incredibly friendly and were very helpful with getting my gear all set for the slopes. My friend also rented a coat, goggles, and pants, all of which worked great for him. All of the gear we rented performed great on the slopes. When I visit Snowbowl again I will definitely be renting from here again. PLEASE READ: Many people berate this store for their lack or parking options. They do not realize that there is a full parking lot behind the shop and so they give low reviews for only having three spots in the front of the shop. Getting in and out of here is much easier if you park in back. This shop is also smaller than others in flagstaff so get to the store at 3pm in the afternoon prior to your ski day or 7am the next morning for the best selection of gear read more

I would not recommend coming here... bad business. There was a high wind advisory at Snowbowl when we were renting at First Chair. Our group was hesitant to rent but the owner said that we would get a life time credit if Snowbowl didn't open all their lifts. We came back to receive our credit minutes before Snowbowl opened one lift at 10:30 and they wouldn't honor the credit we were promised... it's not even about the $$$, it's more or less about how they didn't keep their word. read more

Staff was nice but that's about it. I felt like all they care about is money. I never snowboarded before and thought if I was renting equipment the staff would be more helpful and informative with getting equipment together and sizing. I had no clue what I was renting and untimely the staff set me up for failure in the slopes. I wear a size 6 and since they didn't have a 6 the worker offered me a 7.5. Since my foot fit in the boot I took it. Long story short worse day on the slopes for my first time. I had no clue there shouldn't be any wiggle room in the boot you wear. And had no clue having the perfect size boot was crucial when it came to snowboarding. The fact this wasn't explained to me and the fact the staff member even offered me a size and half bigger just shows all they care about is their money. I paid $216 lift ticket and spent money to rent gear here and didn't get the full snowboarding experience because I sat out the whole day because I just couldn't board correctly with wiggle room in my boots. My boyfriend went to return the gear after and told the worker how terrible my experience was and instead of apologizing was told it was my fault for choosing to rent the size. It would have been nice if the worker told me how to size my boot perfectly and didn't offer a size and a half bigger as if it would still work for me on the slopes. Just a money hungry company. Staff is not informative at all. If you're new to snowboarding don't waste your time here. read more
