I started my Thumpers experience on a bad foot actually, I got an ombre done with red in it and it faded so quickly, that after a week it was completely unnoticable. I'm glad I gave it a second chance as I've had nothing but great experiences from Thumpers! Rob did my hair last New Year's Eve and it was amazing. I asked for an updo that was a bit old fashioned since I was wearing a vintage dress, and he somehow gave my thin ass hair a beehive with curls at the back. I got so many compliments and felt amazing all night. i got hair extensions done here back in April and absolutely loved them. They use babe extensions and Vanessa, the lady who does them, knows her stuff. If you have thin hair like myself and want a confidence boost I can't speak enough for these extensions. When I had them I felt like a new person. I'm giving my hair a 4 month break at my stylist (Vanessa's) advice and can't wait to get them again. My extensions matched my hair perfectly and it was completely impossible to tell that I had them. Vanessa has since dyed my hair dark brown and gave me a nice cut. I have been dyeing my hair dark brown since I was a teenager, and it has always faded to some degree, but this stuff remarkably, has not faded a bit. I asked for a streak of lavender in the back, which didn't turn lavender, so Vanessa fixed it for free. They also sell the best hair products you can get. Oribe is an amazing brand that smells absolutely phenomenal, and is the only place in Halifax to sell R&Co products. They also carry Bumble and Bumble. Thumpers has a decent selection of nail polish and lip gloss from Smith and Co, which I've never heard of, but will forever be hooked on their lipgloss. My lips look amazing. Not to mention the front staff are great. They somehow always know my name when I come in and i always feel welcomed. Only thing is the high price point, I couldn't afford to get my roots touched up this month and am kicking myself for going elsewhere... You really see a difference here, so I consider it well worth the extra $.

Unfortunately, the haircut/style she received was not what she had asked for at all. What was particularly frustrating was being told during the appointment that the stylist was not going to do the requested style because my wife could not replicate it herself at home. If a stylist is unable or unwilling to provide the requested style, that should be communicated before cutting the hair, not after the service is already underway. My wife is normally extremely respectful and rarely complains in the moment, but she is genuinely devastated by the result. I have never seen her this upset about her hair. She is now considering going to another salon and paying additional money to have it corrected before we travel. She has been a loyal customer of salons in general and is normally a very generous tipper, so the fact that she left without tipping reflects just how disappointed she was with the service. Unfortunately, she will not be returning to this salon and would not recommend it to others. When someone spends approximately $400 and clearly communicates the style they want, they should be able to expect the stylist to either deliver that service or be upfront beforehand if they cannot.

A minimalist place both inside and out, there is really nothing overwhelmingly attractive about it (in fact, is is sort of bland by salon standards)... What is appealing about this place, however, is the friendly service from the stylists. The usual stylist I had when I still lived in Sackville was very friendly (though some clients might not be as keen about her persona- she's one of the louder, chattier types, which really doesn't bother me). I never really ventured for any "cutting edge" haircuts or colors while I was a client here, so I can't comment per se about the competence of the stylists, though I will say that I was always left the salon satisfied with the quality of service. And while the price isn't chain-salon cheap, it's more reasonable than some upscale salons where I have had less than admirable results.

When I saw Nancy, I was in desperate need of a trim. Two of my work colleagues had their hair cut…read moreby her and were pleased with the results. She fit me in about four days after I called. As my mentioned, my hair needed serious TLC... my split ends had split ends and so forth. When Nancy had a look, she didn't lecture me about how I should take better care of it (that's a pet peeve of mine). After washing my hair with phthalate-free, vegan, not-overly-scented fragranced shampoo, she started working on my mop. I have long-ish, thick hair and asked for layers. She recommended shortening the layers around my face and it ended up looking good. She suggested how to style it and gave it a quick once over with a blow dryer. Now, a week after, I'm very pleased with the trim. It ended up costing around $55 including the tip. Nancy was very pleasant and by the end, I felt like a long-time client. She was almost too friendly and eager to please. If you go to the salon for a half-hour of silence, don't go here. I am so happy to be see an environmentally responsible salon opening in the community. I hope Nancy can expand her services so she I can start getting pani-medis there.

My experience definitely didn't start out too great though. Upon arriving at the destination, you enter a "home" style shop suite- with a new consignment dress store on the main level and a tanning salon downstairs. You have to walk through the aisles of dresses to the back of the house where you will find Eco Chic. Not at all clearly labelled. I went downstairs to the salon, asked around and then asked around through the dresses. Dress lady on duty was not at all welcoming. As I approached Eco Chic, I stood awkwardly until none other than the dress lady insisted I walk forward. I did. The setup in Eco Chic is definitely different.. The "front desk" is behind a few styling stations. After that, I was greeted by Dana. I explained very clearly what I wanted done and that I was looking to slowly inch off some hair to get it just right. She listened and new exactly how to proceed. Dana was extremely friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I'm not one to talk throughout appointments, but we found lots to talk about. Being as blind as I am, I could barely see what was going on as my hair was being chopped. But when I put my glasses on after my hair was done and styled, the outcome could not have been more perfect. I am absolutely satisfied with my new hair and would recommend Dana to anyone. Eco Chic uses all organic products- not something I would actively seek out but the products Dana used definitely gave my hair a good feel. Thank you!!

'cause I treated myself to a cut and style from the knowledgeable, personable Michael here. (I've visited Angela before and was happy, too!) And the day after the cut, I CANNOT stop running my hands through my hair. It feels and looks amazing. It doesn't tangle like it did, the split ends are gone, and no more ponytails (well, unless I want one) for another six months, at least! I can actually do something with this hairstyle other than "blowdry it and hope for the best". The deep conditioning treatment has turned my hair from straw to luscious. *rubs hair again* And it looked absolutely fabulous the day he did it, too... I went out with my new hair and felt more confident than I have in a while! I love this place. I'm going to be visiting twice a year, now. Note: the prices are a little expensive, but my hair grows verrrry slowly and is hard to handle. Therefore, I find it SO worth it to pay $75 for a cut that will last six months or more and the peace of mind that comes with not worrying about whether that cheap haircut place will ruin my hair for a year or more. If your hair grows super-fast and you change it up a lot, you might want to limit your visits to a treat. If your hair grows super-slowly and you want a style that will keep you happy for a while, maybe you'll want to visit this place too. :)
