If you are tired of organized religion, have I got a place for you. Also if, you don't want people to talk to you are be friends with you, then you'd better stay away. These people will friend you fast. Oh, and the preachin not bad either. read more

This historical marker is located in front of the First Baptist Church of Cleburne on Willingham…read more The marker is in excellent condition though the print on it is quite small. You'll need to stop for sure. The church was closed today but from the outside, it is definitely an impressive structure. It looks to be a welcoming church. The marker reads, "First Baptist Church Of Cleburne Baptist missionary preacher W. A. Mason held a revival in the new Johnson County Seat of Cleburne in 1868 and on May 5 of that year formally organized the First Baptist Church with 16 members. Mason stayed on as pastor of the new congregation until the Rev. J. R. Clarke arrived in 1869 to begin an 11-year pastorate. During his tenure, the congregation purchased property and constructed its first building. In 1893, the Rev. Dr. George W. Baines, Jr., accepted the call to serve as pastor, and he led the church to found three new Baptist congregations. A new building was completed in 1901 on this site during the pastorate of the Rev. J. A. Hendricks to accommodate the growing congregation. Additional facilities, including an education building, were established to house the expanding ministries and church programs. After the sanctuary was found to be in poor repair, a new auditorium was constructed in 1941. Throughout its history, the First Baptist Church of Cleburne has accomplished significant work in the mission field, both in the community and overseas. A noteworthy part of the religious and cultural history of Cleburne, the congregation continues to uphold the ideals and traditions of its founders. This is a good church that has extremely good biblical doctrine and a warm welcoming family…read moreenvironment, no matter if you have a family or are single this church will make you feel welcome. They have many activities and meetings on a regular basis throughout the week, and the Pastor is one of the friendliest men I've ever met. However, their worship service is kind of awkward to experience and they often have a bad habit of providing junk food to its members and if you turn down the offer because you're fasting or on a diet, they will constantly ask if you are sure until you finally indulge their gluttony. The majority of this church's members have weight problems, and if you go to this church regularly you will too.

It was such a wonderful experience. I will round up the details for y'all. The Memorial was in a room that held about 45 people. The Lead Pastor did the eulogy and the Church Staff showed us their hospitality skills by, setting up the room and serving plates. The church is a large arena. It melts my heart to know that so many people come here to hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I will return for Sunday services soon. I highly recommend this Church. You won't be disappointed. Well, that's all folks!

When i walked in i was greeted by a very friendly lady. Cant remember her first name but her last name was Tallent. She was so inviting and friendly! The music and worship team was fantastic! Lots of contemporary christian music (which i love)! The message and preaching was very good and exactly what i needed to hear! Today was my first visit and i will definitely be going again next sunday.

There is absolutely no excuse for this from a small town church! After a year since dad pasted the pastor with prodding finally visited my mom twice. He has now moved on and she has had a couple of visits from other church members now that he is gone. He was a very poor excuse for a pastor. I do wish him well in his future endeavors! He has now left the Church after a three to four year stay. Hopefully they can find a person with pastoral skills for a small town environment! It certainly didn't get any better. A new pastor arrived and we never once saw him. Very few visits from her Bible Study Class and no signs of support through the three year struggle with Alzheimer's . I was told by one lady, oh I visited her once and she got agitated and couldnt talk! Really, you profess to be representative of the local church body? Really! You and you old time Godeyites are a hypochondriac self centered bunch who know nothing about representation of Christianity!

After attending multiple churches in Ft Worth when I lived there for 20 years, I never felt as at home with friends & family until I moved back home in Godley area & back to FBC Godley. Sunday School, Sunday evening Bible study, Wednesday evening Bible study & Church is taught straight from the Bible not just something to make you "feel good", it's to teach & help us grow as a child of God.
