I took a refinance auto loan from them, it was as by Far the worst loan I've ever had! I have a 720+ credit score, but clearly somewhere in the very fine print ;The loan was so Front end Loaded of my $850 payment only $130 went to principal!! The car would've been worth zero by the time I ever paid it off thank God my husband bailed me out and paid off the loan in full. I've been in the credit union since 1993. In some respects they have gone down. Their interest rate is laughable. On the other hand, they don't have to report profit and loss to shareholders, and worry about their stock price (like most banks do). My paychecks are auto-deposited, and I pay my bills from here. They offer a bill-pay (which I use sometimes), and of course we can pay credit cards from the credit card accounts (which is what I usually do). FCU allows either approach. On this occasion I needed to go into the branch. Sat down with a manager, explained what was going on, and she explained to me what needed to happen. I was initially unaware of what she was saying, but after talking a bit I understood. I will be returning to this branch with the requisite paperwork, and we'll see if things go smoothly. If they don't, I may update this review with more details (and possibly change the rating). But for now, I'm satisfied that I was advised correctly about how to proceed. read more

They do things right. They have a Notary on staff that's available for members which is nice. It was a pain during the pandemic when we had to make an appointment to get into the bank, but that's changed back to normal operations now. I've had my complaints over the years but lately I can't think of any. I've never had to wait very long for a clerk window or for a Branch manager so that's works out. When I was having trouble getting the quicken Qfx file to download and sync correctly with my quicken the branch manager worked with me and their software team to get it fixed to work correctly. So kudos to FFcu for seeing things through. read more

So I got a new loan From FCU. I struggled for so long trying to set up online payments. Finally got that part fixed. However before I could get that taken care of, I was calling them and making payments over the phone, for an extra $10 fee. My last payment I made over the phone the gentleman I was speaking to, confirmed my payment, which was actually $0.25 short. This credit union actually report my payment as late to the credit agencies because it was short by $0.25. Don't even consider using this credit union. They are nice, but will screw you over for the smallest thing. As soon as my credit score comes back up, I will refund the loan and be done with this S****y credit union. read more

I was really hoping this credit union would work out but we couldn't even get an account opened. My son is moving to the area and had to be there in person to get a membership. We showed up to get a membership but we had to have an appointment. I counted 9 people working and one customer. I told them that we needed to get the membership and apply for a loan because I'm leaving back out of state and he needed a car before I left. They said he needed to come in at 2 the next day to game time to process the loan and get an account. I told them that was in the middle of the work day but they said they needed that much time. We will find a CU that's easier to work with. read more

Have been with First Credit Union only for a short time. Discovered them by receiving an auto loan through them all be it at bit higher rate but within reason. I only had that vehicle for less than a year (traded in and financed through the manufacturer) but in that time opened up a credit card with them. I have had the credit card for around a year now and have been able to take advantage of the ample reward cash back options on the card. I am now working on refinancing my home with them because they have the best rates of anyone out there. No issues whatsoever with this credit union. It is quickly becoming my go to for all things now. I do have complaints though that don't warrant a lower rating. Their website is very clunky, you cannot pay your bills online unless you do it through your banks bill pay, and they do not have enough physical locations. All annoyances but nothing that would keep me from using them. I have been with some other bigger and small credit unions over the years and these guys seem to really treat you as a person versus a number like so many other credit unions swear they don't but actually do. read more

If you are in the market to refinance, go with First Credit Union. I can't say enough good things about this establishment but also about Marvin, one of their loan officers. I did my research and shopped rates/costs between credit unions, online lenders and the larger banks like Wells Fargo and Chase but First Credit Union was by far the most up front, most helpful and worked extremely hard to complete my loan as quickly and efficiently as possible. Not only that but with even being in final underwriting I had another lender come back with a slightly lower interest rate and First Credit matched it without any additional costs. They were by far the least expensive in closing costs and easiest to deal with. First Credit Union/Marvin wanted my business but was not overly eager with calling me while I was shopping around. we have bankEd with First Credit Union for 15 years. These last two years they have drastically went downhill. we have been locked out of our account over the weekend numerous times. We call and they can't access our account, and unable are unable to tell us why we cant access our money. When you call the after hours number they say they don't have authorization and we have to wait until Monday morning. The customer service is always friendly on the phone and in the branch. FIRST IN NAME ONLY...THIS PLACE IS THE WORST CREDIT UNION IN ARIZONA!!! I recently moved to Arizona and belong to a credit union back home. My credit union is a "member" of the shared branch arrangement that creates a nationwide network where you can bank anywhere in the country. Well, I had an important transaction to handle, and was in need of a Medallion Guarantee Stamp. I called several credit unions in the Phoenix/Chandler area and many said that they did not provide that service at all, so when I contacted FCU and was told that they could stamp my documents I was elated. Upon my arrival, I was told to sign in and that someone would assist me shortly. I waited approximately 15 minutes without any further acknowledgement while two employees held what sounded to be a personal conversation. When one of the women finally came over to help me, she did not introduce herself, or display any customer service etiquette. I explained my situation and she promptly told me that they could not help me because I was not one of their customers. I told her that I phoned the branch prior to driving over there, and was told that they could, in fact, provide the Medallion Guarantee. She asked me if I spoke to the call center and I said yes. She phoned someone to ask if my information was correct, and laughed throughout the entire conversation with the person on the other end of the phone. She hung up and again told me that they could not help me because I was not a "member" of their credit union. Of course I was frustrated because they had not only wasted my time, but their poorly trained staff gave out incorrect information despite placing me on hold several times during my initial call. Long story short, this was the most unprofessional, substandard level of customer service that I have ever experienced from a supposed "shared branch". This person didn't even bother to ask if I would be willing to open up an account. However, after the despicable customer service that she exhibited, I would never consider doing business with First Credit Union. I am happy report that I went to Chase Bank about a mile away, and was pleasantly surprised. I received the most OUTSTANDING customer service from the Assistant Branch manager. I explained my situation to her, and she went above and beyond what I expected. They had the same policy of not providing the Medallion stamp for non-customers, but her approach was very impressive and a stark contrast to my experience at FCU. It's abundantly clear that Chase places a premium on customer service and FCU does not. I am happy to report that I opened an account on the spot. CHASE ROCKS!!! read more

What is happening at this Credit Union? Our family applied for a loan, was approved with the paperwork submitted, and have been contacted to provide 1099R tax forms. We're fine with doing this IF YOU COULD WALK IN AND DROP THEM OFF! They are now on an appointment only schedule and it is impossible to make an appointment or wait on hold forever to speak to a representative, who refers you back to the person who began the paperwork who is impossible to schedule time with. I realize this is of no fault of the employees who are most likely overworked, overwhelmed and underpaid. Open your doors First Credit Union! Wow! I just moved here to Arizona from California and realized this credit union is a co-op (partnered up) with my credit union in California. Today an issue arose and the branch manager, Wendi along with training coach, Laura jumped into action to help resolve my issue! Even Bryce (the teller I usually speak with) joined in the effort. By the way, this was by no fault of this branch but rather my California credit union. Problem addressed and rectified. I truly believe in professionalism and actually taking care of the client. This trio, along with entire staff, has displayed courtesy and professionalism every time I've been in! I think I am going to establish a new account with this bank. I hate this credit Union. I have had an account with them for sixteen years, since my parents opened a junior account for me on my eighth birthday. Throughout the years, they have always given me poor customer service and they always talk down to me, as if I don't understand banking lingo simply because I am a girl in her late teens through early twenties. Very frustrating, since I have held three federal jobs with direct deposit, and had multiple lines of credit with them, and they still treat me as if I my very presence is an inconvenience. And the people I speak to on the phone or in person, never have enough knowledge about things, yet act as if they do. When I was eighteen I tried to open credit with them, and they told me it would boost my credit but I had to have a cosigner. I got to cosigner, and they told me next time I would be able to get credit without the cosigner. Yippee! I paid the three year loan off in nine months, and a few months ago I decided I needed a new car. I went to this credit union to get the loan, and they told me I still didn't have enough credit and need another cosigner!! Please note, I have four lines of credit through other banks and the government, so its not that I'm not established, and my credit score is average. So began the beginning of my mistrust of this place This last week, I finally had enough. I accidentally overdrafted, for the first time since I was in high school! I was starting a new job, and accidentally ran the wrong debit card all day, out of habit. I went into this credit union to set up direct deposit for the new job, and the teller told me I had three overdraft fees. Oh no! But she told me that I was in luck because they have forgiveness for three overdrafts a year. Woohoo! She calls up Lynn, one of the managers who has always given my parents and I, poor customer service especially through the credit fiasco. She immediately recognized me, and without even looking at the screen, asks the teller which account I have. Lynn then looks at me, and says "yeah we can't reverse them. They weren't our fault, they were your fault." And she said it SO RUDELY, as if she was talking to a three year old. At first I thought she was joking, because of how flippant she was about it and she was smiling gleefully as she said it. Apparently making me unhappy brings her joy, which wouldn't surprise me due to how impolite she always is. After I realized she was serious, I was irritated. So I force a smile, and say "the teller just told me I get three a year." And Lynn once again says, "we only reverse charges that are our fault. But we didn't run the card, YOU did." Again, SO RUDE AND CONDESCENDING. I was livid. But I bit my tongue, and smiled and said thank you, and then she smiled back and then hovered over the tellers shoulder, as if to ensure that those charges were not reversed. It was really awkward. I would have understood if she had said no we can't in a polite or friendly way (since the charges WERE my fault) but she was so rude and the conflicting information was very frustrating. I ended up calling the call center, and someone higher up did end up reversing the charges, by upgrading my account. Not sure why Lynn didn't suggest that while she was standing there, but I will assume it is because she feeds off the unhappiness of members. Wednesday is my 24th birthday, and to celebrate, I am closing the account. As a recommendation to the higher ups, train your employees so they are all on the same page, and make sure that the people you promote aren't rude. My parents have banked with FCU for much longer than I have, and when I told them how rude Lynn was to me, they mentioned they might close their account too. Chase offers the same accounts and credit, but have much better customer service. And at the end of the day, I will happily pay a little higher interest, to a company that treats me well. read more

If I could put zero stars, I would do that, but I can't so that's the ONLY reason they get 1 star. I wanted to pay off a credit card that I had through them, and had several issues with their services which is why I also wanted to close out my accounts there. For starters, if you use their bill pay, you have to submit things about 10 days early so that their pre-historic systems have time to get the payment back in time so you don't get a penalty. Terrible. When I went to close my accounts, I couldn't because I had a $9000 (approximate payoff) credit card with them, so they would not let me close my checking/savings until I paid that off. The following month, I went to pay it off, with a DEBIT CARD, not a credit card. The teller (was a young guy) decides to run it as credit and a cash advance without telling me and they cost me $274.92 in fees for being careless. My card says Debit and I was on the phone with my other bank right in front of him increasing my daily debit limit so it could be ran as debit and then he fails to tell me that they don't have the capability to run it as debit. There is a chase bank 1.3miles from there and I could have easily gone and got a check to pay it off or cash, and would not have been an issue. On top of that, after I paid the $9000+, they wanted another $18 for interest that he didn't think to include in the payoff...just more inconvenience from FCU. Oh, and they have the oldest and worst website I've ever seen. For a company that holds a lot of money, you would think they could invest in an upgrade on the website.....and they have a tab called "More Cool Stuff" --- Are you kidding me??? Real Professional. My husband and I have been members of First Credit Union since 1990. We have never had a problem, customer service is always excellent whether calling in to the phone center or visiting a branch location (we visit primarily the Gila Springs Branch or the Devonshire branch). There are tellers at each location that know me, by name, when I walk in the door. I will always bank with a "credit union" as opposed to a "bank". Members get dividends from Credit Unions and there are less fees, whereas Banks charge you fees and you do not benefit from membership with a bank as if you are an owner. Website is good and easy to use. Remote deposit is a great feature which allows me to take pictures of checks to deposit through the FCU app. This really reduces how many times I need to actually visit the bank. Oh yeah... one of the biggest plusses of Credit Union membership is that you can use other Credit Union's ATMs for NO CHARGE, the other credit union's ATM machine just need to show the symbol printed on the bank of your debit card, and this is available at any participating Credit Union anywhere in the United States. Also, a unique and powerful feature of Credit Union banking is "Shared Branch banking". There are credit unions closer to where I live (Arizona Federal and TruWest) that offer Shared Branch Banking with FCU. If I need to, I can go into their location and withdraw funds or make deposits into my FCU account. I access a Credit Union that I still have in another state (that participates in Shared Branch Banking too) this way, from the convenience of my Arizona FCU location. I think that people are more prone to write reviews when they have a problem with a business, and I think this is true for the others who have posted about FCU. I hope that my review balances some of the "angry" reviews that were posted, because this Credit Union is actually a very good place to conduct your business and a good place to have handle your finances. I've been a member since 1995 and have never had anything close to a problem. I've had house and car loans in addition to normal checking/savings accounts. Their website and mobile app are pretty much the only thing I use and they are very easy to use. I only go into a branch 2 to 3 times a year and they are always pleasant and helpful. The worst credit union on planet earth! First they applied a payment to my auto loan that was mailed in towards the wrong account. I called them three times and they said they never received the check. I got confirmation check was cashed by them. Even after telling the rep this, he told me they did not receive a check. I had to miss work time to call and talk to them. One rep told me I needed to visit a branch to figure it out. Hello? You have like two branches and they close by 5, no weekends. I finally go to the branch- made the manager research while I waited and then he found the check. It was applied to another member's account! No accountability. Next, I lost my job and needed a deferment on my auto loan for one month. I had gotten a new job but start date was two weeks out. I asked them about a deferment and they told me no we do not do those. I've never been late ever until I lost my job. Then they transferred me to loss mitigation and the rep in that department told me she was going to have to close my credit card in order to consider the hardship deferment. I ended up withdrawing from my 401k to get money to make the two payments due. They will lend you credit but they will make it difficult to help you when need. I'm looking to refinance my auto loan just to get away from them. I'm waiting to hear from two lenders right now. read more

Never again will I go through them for all I care they can have the car too its not worth the hassle they put you through!
