They have the best security in place to make your kids safe, so as parents you can enjoy service knowing your children are being watch by only adults that have passed background checks and had training! The teen program call fly youth group is on Wednesday nights and is ran by pastor hunter Tonn! Pastor Jason Tonn is lead pastor of the church! River of life is a church for the community and they know outreach! They do out reach and do a lot of it! They have lots of ministries, from giving out free clothing through their clothing closet, serving families needs on household items through hands of hope, making sure families have plenty to eat every Saturday from 1-3 with the river of hope food bank ALL ARE WELCOME!!!, helping the spread some love during the summer to the kids with a big party to start the summer and kick off the summer lunch program where all children under 18 eat free! Helping the parents at the end of the summer by providing school shoes, backpacks full of school supplies, haircuts, food, games and just a lot of fun. River of life is truly a beacon of light for the community in east Missoula and that really shows on Halloween when they light up the town and supply glow sticks and hot coco to all the kids cause east Missoula has no street lights and they want to keep it as safe as possible!

I have encountered and/or overheard individuals that are obviously not struggling brag or advertise to others about how much money they've saved by abusing this benevolent charitable organization. Having experienced homelessness and hunger in a society that has so much abundance, it saddens me that exploitation at the expense of the helpless and disproportionally disadvantaged has 'trickled down' to the common folk. If you don't need it, don't take it from those that do. I do not have the answers to 'fix' this problem. As an aging and disabled person, I have never had the luxury of even 'spare' time to engage in the solution. If I did, that would be one place I would make the effort.

I had a bad experience and was bullied after camp and sexually assaulted by another camper. When I…read morereached out to camp regarding the assault, they said they "couldn't do anything about it" because it wasn't on camp grounds, which I can understand. What I don't understand is inviting the same camper who they knew sexually assaulted another camper back next year while excluding the other camper who was emotionally harmed. This is supposed to be a healing environment and instead, I was mentally and emotionally harmed by what happened at and after camp. This month, I was being bullied (called expletives by another camper). I politely asked for Kim for help (ask said camper to be polite) and explained how much the hateful behavior hurt me. In return, I received an email from Kim McKearnan, CEO of Camp Mak-A-Dream that was incredibly rude and inappropriate lacking compassion. She did not even address my basic request to not be bullied by other campers. Instead of addressing any of my concerns, she ended her cruel email with "cease sending email communications to our team". To sum it up- I asked her for help with bullying and she said I was "banned" from all camps for life. You would think if someone was suicidal, they would want to do something. Non-profits don't get to pick who they help. It is clear the people at the head of this organization are not good people and I highly recommend STAYING AWAY from this camp. Kim also lied to my mother saying over 40 people had not gotten into camp and that's why I was rejected and then later told me it was because of "medical issues". I asked what the concerns were so my doctor could write a letter addressing them and she refused to even tell me what they were concerned about. They claimed they were worried about me being healthy enough to go to camp when I am in college caring for myself which I explained to Lauren (who I was communicating with prior to Kim). If I can care for myself, it is absurd to say I'm too sick for them to care for me (they care for people on chemo). They continued to be dishonest when we didn't buy the health concern issue and claimed it was because I had numerous staff report "behavioral issues at camp the previous year" which I laughed at because it was so absurd. NOT ONCE did ANYONE at camp last year in person or the two previous years virtually mention the slightest thing to me much less something severe enough to ban me. I'm willing to take responsibility for my actions and if I did break any rules, I would be more than understanding. I asked what rule I broke and they couldn't come up with anything. If I had done something wrong, they would have said what it was so they don't get sued for discrimination. I'd like to point out I attended camp for two years virtually where THEY ASKED ME to volunteer and help out with other camps which indicates I was polite, well-mannered and viewed well. A non-profit cannot choose who they help based upon favorites. Some campers are waitlisted after attending only once and others are allowed back every year for over a decade. The favoritism and "we are all a family" is a farce. There are some staff that want this to be a good organization, but it's rotten to the core. We all know the real reason I wasn't allowed back was because Kim/the CEO knows I will speak up about being emotionally and sexually harmed by someone they should have vetted and he happens to be a favorite (even in their profile picture). If I decided to go to the police, this man would be in jail and instead, they are inviting him and another man who was known among the girls as making them uncomfortable back to camp.They also invited a girl back who name called me, cussed me out and bullied me. They claim to "care" about suicide, but the way they treat people would have lead someone in a bad place (like me last year) to self harm and enter a suicidal crisis. They took the side of a predator instead of creating a place. They'd rather waste donations on legal issues than helping more campers. Very sad. Not once was any empathy shown to me by Lauren or Kim for the mental, emotional and sexual assault I experienced by one of their long time campers after camp. In my opinion, someone with some empathy needs to be the CEO. I asked for help with getting a fellow camper to stop bullying and name calling me via text and Kim responds by banning me from camp for life and asking me to never email them again. Are you serious? I have been sexually, emotionally and mentally harmed by the actions of fellow campers and staff at this camp.
