If you're looking for a 9Marks church, or a church where the sermon is based off of the Bible, DO…read moreNOT come here. The pastor may be enthusiastic or charismatic, but he is a showman. He paces around the stage and raises his voice. During bits of quiet, he'd clap...then clap again.. and again, until someone else finally clapped some too. He wanted affirmation. This was a show for him. After 30 minutes into the service, we left. No mention of God, the Bible, and definitely no passages were read in that time. What kind of church doesn't read the Bible or focus on GOD's Word, instead of the pastor's? There was absolutely nothing gained from that 30 minutes. I only lost time, and worried what my kids might be, or might not be, getting taught in their classrooms. Starting off the service(after the music) with links and asking for tithes, really put us off. That's something that belongs at the end, honestly. Otherwise, it is predatory of your feelings after singing music to God. This church needs to rethink how they worship God, delve into the Bible more, and the pastor needs a serious check.

Beautiful praise and worship with powerful teachings of the Word. My family and I attended this church for three months just before hurricane Florence forced us to relocate. I never noticed it then, but there was a seed that was planted during our very short time here. Years later, I am proud to call DCI home and my family. I never believed I would drive an hour and fifteen minutes one way to church, but when you are in this spirit filled atmosphere, surrounded by those who genuinely love you, bring out the best in you and help build you up through your spiritual growth and relationship with Father... you just can't get there fast enough.

How can an establishment pack 850 members of a congregation into a single room full of professional…read moresound equipment, cameras, lights, a stage, three giant screens and a live band feel personal and intimate? I don't know, but somehow this church does it multiple times a week, week-in and week-out without fail. Every time I come to this church for service it feels as though the pastor is speaking directly to me alone, and not just about what he pre-planned during the week, but about what I really need to hear regarding issues that I am facing in my life. I have been to numerous churches of many different denominations, and this is truly the first and only church I can say that I feel right at home. As soon as my family and I walk in the door of the children's wing, we're greeted by a lovely and welcoming staff member to check our young children in for Sunday School, then it's off to the main sanctuary to hear this week's sermon, but you better get there early, otherwise you'll be stuck standing in the back of the room (which isn't a bad thing, but it is nice to sit down). The live band always performs top-tier modern gospel music to get the congregation into a worshiping spirit! And the head-pastor, Jason, is a master of delivering the Good Word in a way that truly draws you in and holds your attention. Just this morning I had the thought multiple times how it felt as if Paster Jason was speaking only to me. I understand that choosing a church is a deeply personal experience based on multiple criteria, and I can only speak to my own personal experiences, but I have seriously never had a single bad experience at this campus. God bless!

Visited while playing Pokemon Go with a group of friends. I was in my car with my five month old…read moreson (so he could stay cool) when I saw that the pastor or other member of the congregation was following my husband back to my car yelling that we "Weren't Christians" and to leave. When I told him that his behavior was not Christ-like, he again made the assumption that we weren't Christians and began to curse at us. I told him that I didn't appreciate him cursing in front of my son and we drove to the other side of the road so we could still play. The man even went so far as to cross the road to pursue and yell at people in our group who were already off the property. The police were called and we explained what we were doing and the fact that his hostility had made us feel threatened, especially considering that we had our son with us (not to mention the other 3-4 children that were in our group). The officer was very understanding and told us that the man claimed that we were told to leave by another member, which we all explained that was not true, as we would have left before the situation escalated. The officer told us to do just like we did and leave if something similar happened elsewhere in the future while we were playing. I won't go so far as to stoop to the same level as the hostile churchgoer and make assumptions, but I will say that his words and actions are certainly not those belonging to a man of God. I can't say whether or not anyone else at the church is as mean-spirited or malicious as he... but I will say that as a woman and a mother, I personally wouldn't feel safe attending services there with such an ill-tempered person, and therefore cannot recommend it to others. Edit: I feel the need to also say that if you are playing Pokemon Go, or any other landmark based game to please not go on this church's property. The landmark can be safely accessed in-game from across the street on the corner near the tree. Even then, please be careful, especially if you are alone or with children, since (as mentioned before) the aggressive churchgoer left church property to go after us even when we complied with his demand to leave the grounds. I know that we all just want to play and have fun, whether alone, with family, or with friends; but just please be careful, I don't want anyone to get hurt just because a member of the congregation is incapable of controlling his temper. Above all, be safe!
