I chose Bamboo Communication to install a video security system for our home and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. John and his team responded quickly to my request, performed a fee on-site consultation where the system was proposed, and managed a high-quality installation a few days later. The entire process was just over a week and we feel very safe with the quality and reliability of the system that we have. Keep in mind that Bamboo deals in high-quality systems and installation. Yes, you can get a cheaper system by doing it yourself with equipment at Costco. But we wanted high-quality cameras (4MP cameras for viewing license plates on the street, infrared at night) and reliable on-site storage (1 month of video playback). We contacted several providers of high-end equipment and found that Bamboo had the best prices for the quality we were looking for. Although you can compare prices of different providers, it's difficult to gauge the quality of the installation beforehand. I was extremely impressed with the quality, care and speed with which the team performed the installation and setup. They went through great lengths to hide some of the wires for aesthetic purposes. Other people might have just had the wires exposed to save an hour of labor. Bamboo really went above and beyond my expectations and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great home surveillance system. read more

Requested for a quote through Yelp and when I did not hear back from them the next day, I requested another quote via their website but still no response. Disappointed especially since they had stellar reviews. 6/1 Updating my review from 1 star to 5 star. After we got through the hiccup of trying to get a quote, John was very responsive to answering my questions and came in pretty competitively priced. He came in today with 3 people on his team and installed 5 LTS cameras and a monitor for me in about 3.5 hours. I'm very happy with the clarity of the cameras and his crew did a great job of trimming branches that were blocking the camera view and also cleaning up afterwards. i should have posted this review several years ago... Bamboo is dishonest. They agreed to install a POE hard wired camera system. Their install was partially good. They left the front of my house without a camera. Areas were left with poor coverage. After installation the owner, John, said he was unable to do the ethernet hard wiring. He hooked the eight camera system to wi-fi, negating the reason for my paying him over $5k for the cameras & installation. If he was unable to do the job, WHY did he accept it? WHY didn't he tell me up front? Last year i found a company that had NO trouble hooking up my cameras to ethernet, they re-positioned poorly placed cams & added a crucial one at the front of my house. I absolutely DO NOT recommend this company IF you want a good POE security camera system read more

I can't say enough great things about Bamboo. John was professional, courteous, neat, and he really went the extra mile. He came to our house to demo the system after a long day at work. He even went to so far as to plug up the cameras to our TV and demo the HD, night vision, etc. for us. His helpfulness, and personality really sold us on his service. He was also extremely trust worthy. On the day of the work he was on time, and took very few breaks. He and his partner shuffled through crawl spaces, and attics to conceal all of the wires for the cameras, leaving our home perfectly in tact when all was said and done. They took approximately 8 hours to do the work and created minimal noise. We even had our infant at home and he went about his day as normal in spite of the work being done on our home. We have even had questions and needed support since the installation and he has been back out to make some adjustments for us. Making the appointments was easy and John was super nice. If i ever need his services again, I would not hesitate to call him, or refer him to a friend. read more

John is a life saver! We have an existing security system in place and, a few weeks after it was installed, all our cameras went out all of the sudden. We contacted the initial installer and he told us we had to replace our existing cameras because the polarity in the power source switched and damaged them. Skeptical, I called John to provide an independent assessment of the issue. He came in, unplugged the power cable to the dvr and replaced it with the correct one. Instantly, all our cameras came back up!! After that he help fix our issue with accessing the camera outside the network and told us about the existing system that was installed. read more

John installed a 4 outdoors anti vandal cameras, 2TB DVR system in our home. He arrived on time, work very hard for 6 hours, program all equipment (That included our mobile phones and iPad), taught me how to use the DVR, answered all questions, and clean up when the job was done. Long overdue review.... John is fantastic! I am in the middle of a major remodel and spoke with several companies about running cat 6 and cable throughout the house as well as wiring for sound. Not only was John's bid the most reasonable but he actually showed up on time and did the work quickly, cleanly and efficiently. My general contractor even complimented the work he did. What really impressed me was that after he finished the job he bid for, I realized I need more wiring for an area I overlooked. I only had a day until the drywall was going up and John changed his schedule in order to meet the needed time frame... and he didn't even charge me for it! John is awesome. We had been having issues with Comcast's (effing worst company in the history of companies) wireless internet in our house. If you moved more than 6 feet away from the router the download speed dropped from 100mbps to less than 5mbps. Comcast claimed they could do nothing about this. They stated there were too many wireless networks in Russian Hill that were causing interference and it wasn't their problem. They had been out 5 times in less than a year. I hate Comcast John wired access points in the front and back of the house. This quickly solved the problem. The work was top quality, fast, and done in a professional manner. This review is long overdue - and now especially well-earned based on how well our system has held up and John's incredible responsiveness when we had to relocate a portion of our system to accommodate some remodeling. John was referred to me in 2016 by a good friend in the real estate industry who hired John for several commercial projects as well as his own home. John had thoughtful (and very clear) recommendations for a six-camera home security system. We met with one other vendor and selected John based on his knowledge and his price (as well as my friend's recommendation). His guys were neat and clean and efficient on the install and did a great job of hiding the cables. John was frequently on-site to oversee the work. John walked me through the setup on my laptop and phone and the system has been working for us ever since. Most impressively, any time I have called John since 2016 with a minor question or the occasional troubleshooting issue (mostly due to a change of phone or computer on my end), he has been incredibly quick to respond and has never charged me another dime, including making a visit to my house to assist on one occasion. John is the real thing. If you're in need of security cameras that are secure in and of themselves, he's the guy. We needed tamper proof cameras installed on our property due to an ongoing issue with homeless people coming and going on and off the property at all hours. We were in a hurry, so he was able to accommodate us in about 7 days - working on a Saturday with a full blown crew, installing steel conduit to be sure the wires could not be cut, battery backup, in case a breaker failed, etc. You get the idea. This system provided peace of mind to the tenants on the premises since they are able to see who is at the door with their cell phone app, as well as provide us with the documentation needed to prove drug use and nuisance complaints required in order for us to legally clean up the mess. This kind of experience is already stressful. John's professionalism removed any uncertainty in this part of the process. read more

John is an expert designing and installing security camera systems. In 2016 John installed a 4 camera system for my residence, and a high end video intercom solutoin. He tracked the installation multiple times during a larger remodel to install wiring and layout, to doing final equipment setup and configuration. Since then John's been excellent maintaining the system -- just recently for unrelated reasons I needed to move a camera, I didn't know if it could be done but he got into the wall, moved the wiring, and remounted the camera excellently. read more

Installation was professional and the high-quality cameras continue to work perfectly. The best part, however, is John's customer support after the sale which is so rare these days. I couldn't access our cameras from our devices after setting up a new router last week. So I texted John and, within in the same day, he remoted to my computer and set up the appropriate router settings, and I was up and running again. Note that this was almost two years after installation! Who provides that level of service years after the initial sale?! John does! Bamboo Communication did a great installation on my residence. 14 cameras, including a license plate reader that reads and stores the license plate of all vehicles passing in front of my residence day or night. The installation is professional. You don't see any cables or wires. Fast, efficient, and done in same day. What is impressive is the after-sales service. John the owner stayed until 8:30 pm to customize the system for us, set it up on our iphone's, and showed us how to use it. A couple weeks thereafter I had a problem viewing it on my phone due to an app issue, I texted John, he replied promptly. After identifying the problems, he said that he needs to show me how to fix it in person, and that he is currently traveling outside the country, will be back in a couple of days, and will meet me the evening he lands which he did. Now how many service provider will return your text or answer your call while traveling outside the country ? I think the after-sales service in a security camera installation is just as important as the installation itself because you need to have the assurance that the installer is willing and committed to helping you with any potential problems or service issues after the installation is done. I needed a security system and called several companies only to find that they were very expensive or did not return my calls. I called John and he listened to what I was looking for in a home security system and he wanted to come out to my home to see the layout of my home, which he did not charge me for. I hired Bamboo Communication to install six security cameras inside my house back in Aug, 2015. John, the owner, is very knowledgeable in his trade. He listened and understood my requests and concerns. He and his team are highly skilled and did an awesome job from start to finish. They were extremely professional, and worked effectively and efficiently. The reason I am writing the review now is because I am so impressed by John's technical support throughout the years. First of all, the cameras are solid and require no maintenance. But as I upgrade technology, the camera communications need to be tweaked. One time, I upgraded iOS in my cell phone and John walked me through downloading the updated version of SuperLive Plus to be in sync. Recently, I installed a new gateway modem. Normally, it's an easy fix from John's end to reconnect remotely. However, John has identified an Xfinity issue that won't allow the connection. I spent hours with the Xfinity technicians with no avail. So John tried many different ways and figured out an alternate solution with our existing equipment to reconfigure the connectivity. The process took quite some time but John was patient and relentless in trying to figure out a solution. Over the years, John has always returned my calls promptly and made himself available. And my recent experience showed that he is also willing to go above and beyond to find workable solutions. read more
