I decided to give it a shot, and boy, was I impressed! The first thing that stood out to me was the caliber of music. For a small to medium size congregation, the worship was very good. It was a relatively casual atmosphere, and while I noticed there were plenty of 30-somethings with kids present, there were both younger and older people in the crowd, as well. Several people approached me to introduce themselves or say hello, and the message was refreshingly relevent. What really impressed me, though, was the phone call I got the next day from the pastor to personally thank me for coming and invite me back. I took him up on his offer, and am still attending 2 1/2 years later. If you are looking for a mega church, look elsewhere. But if you want to get to know God on a deeper level in a family style environment, then don't pass up the opportunity to try this place out.

I love the Pastor Pat....he doesn't really "sugar coat" his sermons and speaks from his heart/soul. I am sure he has stepped on some toes, but then again they probably needed it! I look forward to his sermons and the way he describes txt from the bible in a layman's terms. I like that. Think I have found a home! Everyone I have met here is genuinely friendly. Benny, also a Pastor here has really helped me a lot through some rough times last year with a major surgery and PTSD issues. Not only coming to the hospital but my home several times and spent time with me when I really needed it. If you are looking for a place to call your church home....I HIGHLY recommend Life Point in Smyrna! I live in Smyrna, TN...don't know why it shows CA!

I personally prefer traditional worship style and more academic style teaching, and I moved, so I ended up joining a different one. Sadly, the issue here is the body of the church. I attended and tithed for years. It is very…read moreclicky. I found the pastor's to genuine love God, but when I saw new age practices approved and coming into church: yoga, enneagram..and no one was concerned with this I knew it was time to leave. This is a lukewarm congregation but there are veins that are good- like the prayer ministry. If you have a true emergency though, you're pretty much on your own as it takes weeks for them to respond via email- if they respond at all. I think it's a good example of why people leave church. There was no call to share the gospel. If I mentioned that people looked horrified, but it's a call for those who love God to share that love with others. It was very hard as a single person to make friends. I tried, I'm not shy, was very present. It ultimately felt very feigned, like everyone was playing a role. I know no church is perfect, but something is misaligned with what leadership says they want ( a church open to all) and what it is (a church open to...some). I find more of God in the homeless people I talk to in my daily life then there. There was a lack of rawness, love, and truth. I think everyone was too cushy and comfortable.. No one noticed when I left which I also found interesting considering I was at every sunday, every prayer meeting, every home group meeting. I didn't mean to leave, but I began double attending another church where I was welcome and they are on fire for Christ, sharing the gospel, and wise to new age practices. The transition was natural. This was my first experience with a true disappointment in church, and I understand now why people don't attend church. I didn't go there to receive, but to worship. However, why would you go to a church that makes you feel more lonely? Or isn't giving anything communally. It just becomes a burden. *shrug* Wish them the best but, it's unfortunate. I think this is what happens when you are led by people raised in the church in peaceful yet privileged lives. They cannot relate to those who have experienced deeper cuts- which is most of the people who need salvation. We no longer live in the time where we can afford to hinge on polite mannerisms and church games. Cut down to the root of it and get real. People need the love of God and it is an urgent matter.

Westminster Presbyterian is a large active church. I've attended this church twice now. They have…read moreservice at 8:30 and 11:00. I've only attended the 11:00 service. The congregation appears to be mostly families and older couples. Everyone was dressed nicely. All of the men were in suits and the women were dressed in similarly nice clothes. The congregation appeared to be really involved. I read and heard about a number of social activities. During my first visit a couple of people made an effort to say hello to us and to ask if we were visiting. My favorite aspect of this church is the music. I'm a hymns and organ music type of a girl. This church loves to sing. They are constantly singing. I love that. Their choir is incredible and sings beautifully. Another favorite aspect has been the sermons. They are written and presented well. The pastor has a wonderful sense of humor and manages to make the entire church chuckle while still getting his point across. Finally, the church is really a beautiful building. The sanctuary is really bright and cheerful.
