Love a brunch/breakfast spot that offers healthy and clean food options! Far from greasy diner food, but full of great flavors and variety. I've had the power quinoa bowl (on the specials list), chicki-changa, their plate sized pancakes, not guilty your honor (the veggie wrap and hummus) and tried others' dishes and haven't had a bad bite yet. Service is usually good and attentive. Prices are very reasonable. Coffee pitchers for the table is an added bonus. It's a shame they are only open for breakfast and lunch. The name throws everything off--seem like the title of a first-responder's huddle area for some natural disaster. Or maybe even a weird rendition of Bay Watch, Prime time, Dateline, hah. I can go on. But no sir, this is a breakfast food, brunch, and lunch joint--a chain if I may add. And being snuggled in this stripmall, my mom and I definitely found a place that cooks up a better dish for cheaper than the nearest IHOP. I actually really enjoyed my late brunch. Food: - Tri-Athlete Omelette ($7.89): Delicious omelette using fresh chilies, mushrooms, tomatoes, and onions. It's a light omelette so dont expect heavy cheeses or other hearty sauces to marinate your meal. It really lets you feel light and not overwhelmed by grease (thank you very much). A little bit lacking in flavor, but the salsa makes up for it. BE SURE TO ASK FOR ANOTHER CUP OF SALSA--you will indeed run out! The english muffin was standard, yet crispy. The cup of fruit, a great way to end the meal. Not a bad entree for someone not too hungry but wanting a light meal! - Tri-fecta with Muesli Pancakes ($7.59): The muesli pancake was pretty thick and came with plenty of grains popping out of it. Soft, and not overwhelming, you could TASTE how fresh it was. Muchhhh better than IHOP. Also the eggs were decent depending on how you like it, and the bacon was very crispy and cooked right before they served it to us. Those crucial minutes were well calculated! Thanks! Pros: - Very clean and "happy" interior. It's somewhat of a greeny feel, which also kind of gives a diner feel. A nice diner. - Very spacious. Lots of tables. - Servers and waiters are very courteous. It seems like they like their job! (Well, who wouldn't if your business closes before 3pm everyday) - FREE WIFI. - Hugeeee variety of food. Lots of lunch options too! They all sound great - I believe all egg products can be substituted with egg whites for FREE. Score! Cons: - Coffee was around $2.50. But you get the whole pitcher/thermos. Not sure if that's a good thing or bad thing. Bad thing because the price of that coffee was/is really hard to find (ended up finding it on the bill, not on the menu itself). - Open from 7am till 2:30pm(ish). So sad for those who like breakfast food for dinner. Tips: - Sign up on their website for their mailing list and you get a free entree on your birthday. I'm giving First Watch 2.5 stars rounded down to 2. I was disappointed with my first visit to this place. I took my kids before a day of shopping. My son got the Floridian French Toast. This was a very good dish. Huge portion, topped with a very generous amount of kiwi, banana, and strawberries. So thumbs up for that. My daughter and I shared two omelets -- the Greek Fetish and the Swisshroom. These were both a big letdown. The omelets were pretty small and extremely bland. The home fries were also bland. The English muffins were limp. My coffee was ok. Service was not good. Our server Juan was distracted and disinterested. Other servers looked much better. We'll probably give this place another try, but I'm no no rush. I realize there are not a ton of breakfast options in this area, which would explain the line as we left, but at least for omelets or other egg dishes I'd go to Chutzpah or Anita's before I came back here. read more

Funny story..almost didn't go here because I was so confused and turned off by the name. I'm still not entirely sure about what the name means..totally over my head. It sounds like a prison or psych ward. I digress: Back on track: THIS PLACE IS AWESOME. So much better than a Panera or Corner Bakery. The menu is one of the freshest I've seen in the area. So many healthy options that you can feel good about eating. The place is spacious and welcoming. Service was fantastic, the owner took his time chatting us up and answering all our foodie questions. He was a delight and it made our breakfast experience even better. The food was incredibly tasty. I had the chicken wrap with a side of potatoes and fruit. They were so flavorful and fresh tasting. It was generously filled and delicious. I ate every bite. The potatoes came out fluffy and crispy well seasoned and NOT greasy. The fruit portion was tiny but everything else was so good it didn't matter. My friend had the bacon & onion hash it was good as well. Generously scattered with bacon and again those to die for crispy hash potatoes. Topped with yummy scrambled eggs. We also couldn't help ourselves so we ordered a single pancake to split. It was HUGE and THE BEST PANCAKE I've EVER HAD. Multigrain-cranberry pecan. It was fluffy, and sweetened to perfection. It didn't even need syrup. The top of the pancake was still crunchy from being perfectly browned on the griddle. It went perfectly with our coffee. A fun little thing we noticed is that they left a coffee pitcher and water pitcher for us at the table. BONUS POINTS. We really appreciated that. :) Highly recommend going here for breakfast. Fairfax needed a little place like this. A step up from iHOP but not quite as nice as Artie's or Sweetwater. The food is pretty good cafe food but can be hit or miss. It is definitely a kid-friendly and family-friendly atmosphere, very clean and fairly quick. If you come here on a weekend you will most likely have at minimum a short wait due to the fact that there really are not many breakfast/brunch options in the area. If you are looking for a reliable tasty meal, give First Watch a shot. However if you feel up to traveling to Falls Church or closer to DC there are many better options. read more

We were told that the wait would be 30 minutes. I stretched my neck to see this long table...asked if we could sit there...and the hostess said "Yes, that is the community table. No wait." Why wouldn't she suggest that instead of having me ask. Oh well...we sit, we order, we wait. And wait we did for 30 minutes. For ham steak/eggs and crepes. 30 minutes. We saw tables come and go. Again, the service is simply efficient but more mechanical than sincerely. 2. I now know why the restaurant puts a lemon in the water... because the water tastes TERRIBLE!!! Granted, it might be a municipal issue but there are things called filters... this could also help the extremely thin and bland coffee. 3. The food... myeh, blah, bland, whatever... Industrially stamped English muffins, omelette eggs from a carton (they were sooooo perfectly yellow sans a hint of any color variation... industrial), and packaged jam (yes, that Industrially packed strawberry jam and grape jelly.... yawwwwn), flavorless chicken, CANNED tomatoes, the bland list goes on.... My Ragin' Cajun omelette had a whimper of heat and it STILL had no flavor. My girlfriend's omelette was supposed to have goat cheese but the cook forgot to milk the goat. Lastly, her daughter had blueberry pancakes that were gritty and flavorless... How do you do that? A blueberry compote was added to the pancakes to boost flavor... isn't that a sign that things are too bland? So, for those of you that prefer Disney service and bland food have at it... On my first visit, I ordered the Farmhouse Chicken Hash and I haven't ordered anything different since. Went with a friend and her daughter for brunch. First time there, had heard it was busy and I did the reservation via yelp to get on the waitlist. Checked in when we got there and was another ten minutes or so wait til we were seated, was fairly busy but the tables were turning over. Large selection of choices on menu, everything looked good! I got a veggie omelet with thick slices bread and salad with a side of roasted potatoes, all good. My friends got some chocolate chip pancakes and veggie drinks and flax bowl. I am pretty impressed with First Watch, given the ridiculous concept of only being open until 2pm. It's pretty inexpensive and the menu items don't leave you feeling guilty when you leave. The menu is mostly on the healthy side. I really like the multi-grain pancakes. I've gotten the blueberry and tasted my husband's chocolate chip. They are very large and taste great. If you order pancakes, I would only order one or two because of how big they are. You will be full!! I have also ordered the baja turkey burger with no mayo. It's really tasty. The turkey with avocado, pepper jack and salsa is a good combo. Overall, both your belly and wallet will leave this place feeling full. I just wish they were open in the evenings too so there would be a healthier dinner out option in the area. read more

Quality ingredients and great preparation, along with 1st rate service make this place easy to give a 5 star review to! Waffles were giant, crispy/chewy and delicious. Served with a berry sauce to jazz it up a bit. They don't have hash-browns but they do have diced morning potatoes that totally hit the spot. Cholula on every table is a major +1 in my book. They bring coffee to the table '' "YEAH!!!" Not that I'm addicted, i just need it each and every day - and more is good. :-) Food was good sized portions, plenty of choices, not your typical bland food with fat & sugar. Food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. Please note -- it is a sit down restaurant - don't' expect fast food 2-3 min, but it was not slow at all. Still hot and very tasty. Waitress was attentive, but not overbearing. Our water glasses stayed full. Checkout was easy. Only bad was our arrival was 2 stars. The 'manager(I think)' greeted us promptly and told us just a second, he was clearing a table for us. Then he got distracted with a customer who apparently wanted to argue every item on his bill (aka jerk). However, two groups got seated ahead of us and more were about to when we had to step in. The meat was tender and juicy. The day glow was a mixture of carrot, orange, lemon, and organic ginger. I was worried that the ginger would taste strong, but the flavors complimented each other. They prepare their own juice at this restaurant. Our waiter checked on us regularly and was friendly. The morning meditation is a nice hearty juice to try as well. They recently remodeled & it seems much more open & inviting. I will say the waiting area is very small, & because of their limited hours, the wait times are always VERY long to be seated. Luckily, you can add your name to the waitlist using Yelp to minimize the wait. Once you are seated, the food usually comes out pretty quickly. The coffee is also very good. My friend ordered the trifecta and was disappointed at how small the portion was but tasted good. But for $27 for three ppl, you can't beat that! We've been wanting to try First Watch for a while now but are always deterred by the long wait time. When my boyfriend called to ask about the wait time this weekend, he was told that you can download an app called "NoWait" and get your name on the list without being physically present at the restaurant. It doesn't feel very warm or welcoming - perhaps because there is a lot of unfilled space? I can't quite put my finger on it. The logo is also a little strange. It looks like it could be the logo for a clinic or something like that. Luckily, the food made up for the odd decor. Between the two of us, we ordered: - Bacon, avocado, and tomato hash: This was pretty good and had sampling of all things I love - bacon, avo, potatoes, poached eggs, an english muffin with jam, and some fruit. A good balanced dish. - Chickichanga: This was my favorite as well as my boyfriend's. The description says the chicken is spicy but it's not. Very flavorful though. - Bacon, cheddar, and chocolate chip pancake (one): We tried this just for the heck of it because we were curious. They give you the option of ordering 1, 2, or 3 pancakes. We got 1 and were so surprised that it was bigger than my face and quite thick as well. For $3.89 that's a pretty good deal. Our conclusion about this controversial choice is that it was good but we would never order it as our main meal. It's just too much. If you come with a group of friends, you might want to split one, but it would get overwhelming if that was the only thing you were eating. After reading the menu I really wanted this place to be as good as the menu read. Service was pretty good minus that I never got water after asking for it even though he checked back frequently. The 2 stars is for the kitchen, your menu is amazing, the execution is dismal. I get that you want to give the plate colour but chives on everything is over kill. And the plates weren't hot, my food had no choice but to get cold quickly. And don't offer scrambled eggs if they aren't actually going to be scrambled. The turkey sausage had the flavour of cardboard, just because it isn't pork doesn't mean it shouldn't have spices added to it. read more

The first time I dined at a First Watch was years ago in Florida. When I walked into the doors of this First Watch, it looked exactly like the ones I frequented in Florida. Unfortunately, this First Watch fell short each time I dined at their establishment. Service and food could use much improvement. For example, my family took me there for breakfast on my birthday. They all received their food. The birthday girl .... well... she waited and waited and waited. They finished their food and still I had no food. The manager assured me it was going to be delivered to my table immediately. It wasn't. And when it finally arrived, it arrived lukewarm. From my first visit, First Watch was good enough for me to want to give it a second try. From the other reviews, I was expecting something truly exceptional. This visit wasn't that. It was good... bordering on very good, and I will certainly be back at least once more. It took a few minutes to get seated even though there were plenty of tables available. There was also a considerable delay at each step of the "restaurant process" (getting menus, getting orders taken, getting coffee, ...). Maybe we were seated in a section without an assigned waiter but looking around, I saw lots of other parties looking around for their servers as well. I ordered the French Toast and so did my daughter. When it finally arrived it was pretty good, but nothing spectacular. I don't regret ordering it and will order something else when I get around to coming back for a second try. Then I'll update the review and star rating as appropriate. For me, a 4-star rating means I will add this restaurant to my list of "regular places" and suggest that others give it a try. read more

As a breakfast spot this place although is a chain resturant, each one that I have visited is ran with a personal touch. This one is by far at the top of the list of those that I have been to. This location is spacious, compared to the others that I have been to...very clean, the service is fast for seating and for food preparation. They wont stuff you, despite being able to leave with a "to go" box, but you have a great choice of healthy and classic breakfast foods as I tend to go with the "Tri-fecta' choice...However, my last two visits I have gone with the "Tuna Melt" as it has been the item to hit the spot! read more

The restaurant have a good space and quantity of tables even outside if the weather is nice. They also manage good prices for the quality of food they offer. If I could rate my experience today, it would be zero stars. We were seated around 12:25, and only until we stopped our waiter to ask about the status of our food did we realize that he never put the order in. It was at 1:05 that our food was finally brought to our table, the eggs that were supposed to be poached on a salmon Benedict were completely overdone and was the consistency of a hard boiled egg. At this point we have waited almost an hour for extremely subpar food and experience. This was my third time visiting this location and I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. I have to say it pains me to write this review but this locations pales in comparison to the Fairfax location. My girlfriend and I were seated immediately (no qualms there) and ordered rather quickly. However, after ordering we waited for more than 40 minutes without our waiter even coming to check on us. Only after waiving down another waitress and explaining the situation to her was our food brought out almost immediately. This makes me think that our food was just forgotten about? Our waiter also offered nothing in exchange for our unreasonable wait time and poor service. Only giving three stars instead of one because the food was still good and I'm hopeful that this was only a one time occurrence. read more

Horrible customer service. Placed an order through First Watch website and they gave me an option for delivery. Order had been placed at 10:32am and ETA was 11:38am. Waited ONE HOUR to get the cancellation notification. Called store and MANAGER said my card had been declined which is not true.(Photo attached from my bank transaction). The first lady who answer the phone before the manager told me that their delivery contractor does not deliver on weekends. I told them that First watch website game me an option for delivery and how the hack I know if they have changed that delivery policy or not. If they saw my order with delivery, should they call me right away and explain it? So either I can come by the store to pick it up or just cancel? Why don't you admitted your mistake and give me a nice apology instead of saying that "Oh, it's not my issue, it's your bank". This must be very shameful on you and your store.
