We have eaten here many times. It's one of our favorite places in town. The coffee is amazing, the food is amazing, the ambiance is awesome. It's clean, the service is good. Love love love. I always enjoy going to First Watch when I don't mind spending a little more than a diner for breakfast. They have unique dishes. Plenty of healthy and I-probably-better-run-an-extra-mile-after-this options. Their oatmeal is legit. I normally wouldn't order oatmeal but the steel cut oatmeal with fruit is really good. Also their strawberry jam is made in house and really good. They probably have the best coffee of any sit down restaurant I eat at. Again, it costs just a little more than some other places but it is worth it. And it won't break the bank. read more

Went to First Watch today with a friend and when the food first arrived, at first bite she summed it up with "I really can't think of how to describe this food. It's just pretty much perfect!" I agree with her sentiments. We were greeted by Ms. Jennifer with a warm engaging smile. We asked her what was good on the menu and she exclaimed everything! Kambria, our server was very sweet and attentive. Although she didn't know what whipped eggs were, she was accommodated us perfectly. We had a hard time deciding on just one thing. I had the Farmhouse version of hash *eyes roll in your head good* ! I will say some of the potato bites were not quite done but the flavors were amazing! My friend had the Chickenchimi-something. I tasted hers it was also an amazing spicy-bit-of-crispy-goodness on a plate. We went half on a carrot cake pancake, which she loved and I couldn't finish because the food was so filling. The ambiance is perfect and homey with a mix of green apple textures, distressed wood, and metal. I wished I could incorporated the pieces into my own home. I took a picture of the inside and texted it to my friends encouraging them to come. So happy to have an establishment like this in Smyrna! Run, I say, Run to First Watch! Really wanted to love it but after waiting 45+ mins after ordering basic breakfast food, the food was just ordinary and not worth the higher price. Also after asking specifically if we could have 2 different kinds of pancakes in a stack and being told we could, we were charged for 2 separate single stack pancakes. The hollandaise sauce was watery and bland and the rest was just ok. Lots of servers just standing around waiting for the kitchen to catch up on the orders. This is my new favorite breakfast place. I didn't even know it was there until I was looking for places to have breakfast that weren't IHOP or Cracker Barrel. It is a smaller location and there may be a wait, but that's no problem with their app. You can put yourself in line before you get there! And if you sign up for their club you get a BOGO free entrée. They have several types of eggs benedict, which I love love love. The summer special Barbacoa beef benedict is so good I wish they'd have it year round. The grits are amazing. Very tasty. They use local and organic ingredients which is nice (but not a deal breaker for me). There's plenty of coffee going around, and they put a carafe of that and one full of water on the table. I've been twice more since the first time and the menu is full of things I want to try. The summer menu also has 'millionaire's bacon' on it which is AMAZING; maple, brown sugar, cayenne... sweet and chewy as candy but with a hint of spice. Even though I've only been to this specific location twice, we had the same waitress both times and she acted like she remembered us. She was super friendly and very helpful despite being run ragged by the crowd. read more

Second Visit- Well I thought I'd try again, but after this visit it's clear this location is inferior to the others. My friend's food was brought out way before mine - her bacon was burnt to a crisp, again. I sent the bacon back for less done pieces and the waitress, Rebecca, gladly obliged. It came back a little less burnt, but still burnt. I received my food about 10 minutes later, which was wrong. I asked for egg whites fried and received regular scrambled eggs, the bacon was again burnt to a crisp, and my bananas were brown. I spoke up and told the waitress what was wrong and she headed back for the kitchen. I waited and waited as did my friend. At this point I began getting quite annoyed and just wanted to leave. The waitress has brought out 1 plate at a time, piece by piece, but I'd enjoy my entire meal. It really doesn't take long to fry some eggs. The second time I received my food, it was correct. The only complaint I have about the waitress is the fact that she was messing with her hair then picking plates up to deliver to the tables. She didn't do it in the back or wash her hands which is a big no no in the food business. I was skeptical about coming to this first watch location because I figured it wouldn't be as good as a Brentwood location - and I was right. The customer service is very poor and the food wasn't the best. I would like to state that the restaurant closes at 2:30 and me and my partner arrived at 2:02. The store was already being closed down and cleanup was being done all around us. I get wanting to clean all the other sections but don't expect us to lift our feet for you to sweep where we are eating. The bacon was way way over cooked and inedible, the fruit was not of good quality, and the coffee was just gross - old. The server didn't seem to really care about anything other than getting out of there. She took our drink order, took our food order, brought the food, and brought the check. No other follow ups. And to mention, she didn't say one word when she brought us our food - not even a "does everything look okay?" Or "can I get you anything else?". After speaking with the manager when we went to pay, she was completely condescending, telling me that all restaurants clean up once their servers have no more customers... well if you're not closed until 2:30, and it's 2:15 what if customers DO come in... She also asked if I had worked in a restaurant and kinda giggled under her breath when I said yes and replied with "well all restaurants are different". She did insist on taking care of the tab but I insisted multiple times to let me pay. I at least insisted she let me tip our server because she did take the time to serve us even if it wasn't the best. After asking who our server was the manager says, "well yeah, it's her last day anyway" - I'm sorry but that's unprofessional. Don't try to throw your server under the bus even if it was completely her fault - which it wasn't. There were many things wrong with our visit today and I think I'll just stick to my Brentwood locations because I am a regular customer there. read more

We went last Sunday for lunch. Enjoyed the food but I must say the management certainly doesn't 'outfit' the gals who serve with flattering outfits! I felt uncomfortable for the waitresses AND for those of us who were patrons. In this age of fighting for the pay-equality-for-women, I think business should also get some input in the classy-attire-department. Come on! At first we went to Cracker Barrel, only to be disappointed by an hour long wait. So I pulled out my trusty Yelp app and luckily found this gem. 100xs better than Cracker Barrel. It is an adorable local spot with amazing biscuits and gravy. Which, honestly, is the truest measure of a good breakfast restaurant. On top of that, the lemon ricotta pancakes blew my world AND our service was immaculate. I will definitely return here next time I'm in Nashville!! read more

While my first experience was not all I was hoping for, it was in fairness when it was still new and the kinks not yet worked out. It was more than made up for by the second visit. The staff is friendly and knowledgable, even though this is a fairly new establishment to Smyrna. If your server isn't sure on an answer, give them the chance to ask a manger and get you the info you are needing. I love the pancakes and the Bacado Omelet. Everyone looks happy to be there and serve you. This is a new and trendy spot, so it is possible there will be a wait if you go on a weekend day. They drop the ticket quickly after your meal is delivered, and you check out up front, which is a plus, not to rush you, but so you have the freedom to pay and move on if need be. (Lunch hour).. The Kale Tonic and Day Glow are fabulous fresh juices made very day in house. First watch has been around since 1983, they have it down to a science. Give them a chance, and have N open mind. Do not visit here when they are busy. Very inefficient. First, their "no wait" app claimed there was not a wait, full lobby when we arrived. Quoted 10 minutes, waited 45 (mainly because no one was available to clean dirty tables). One host, who was working as hard as she could, running wait, cleaning tables, taking money, getting yelled at....no way to keep good people. Servers bussing own tables, making own bread for plates (which I'm sure violates a wage/ hour law). Food took about 35 minutes, which is way too long for breakfast). This was our first time going here. Food was good, but not great. Eggs are a pesky item to cook and get right - low and slow for a great scrambled egg. Unfortunately the eggs where on the rubbery side - it's too bad because if you are going to be a breakfast place, YOU NEED TO BE THE BEST BREAKFAST PLACE. My husband and I went for breakfast. Our waitress brought our food and dropped jelly all over my white pants and blouse. Then the top of the syrup dispenser wasn't tightened down and fell off in my plate. I took a drink of my water and there were two chips in the glass and cut my lip and all the waitress could say was hope you have a better day. No manager, she never sent one over and we were done at that point. It has been our favorite place to eat. There wait staff is horrible read more

After reading many of the reviews here, I wonder if I went the the same place or these folks who wrote them are friends of the of the folks who work there. I'm always giving new places a chance , I've been all over the world, ex military man here. Was looking for a new place for b-fast, so I took a chance. The place looked nice from the outside and on the inside. The server was too over friendly, and was getting in my nerves. I got coffee to start with and it was very good. The ordered the eggs Benedict for me and the oatmeal for my friend. The food came out and it looked real good!! That all ended for us, the oatmeal had no flavor , not even the fruit made it taste good. I had to send my eggs back because they we over cooked, and cold. The second set of eggs was cooked ok, but the hollandaise sauce, had no flavor just and was too thin. One would think that for $8.00 for oatmeal and $12.00 for eggs , one would be getting the best of it all, NOT. I will be back, but just for the coffee. read more
