Lucky for me there are several banks within spitting distance from Sigler Music Center Teaching Studio. The first one I came to was Arvest. It was early on Saturday morning so I was the only one around. I pulled up to the ATM and the first thing I noticed was that it looked like an ATM. That's always a plus. I like my bananas to look like bananas, my left shoe to look like a left shoe, and my ATMs to look like an ATM. It brings balance to my life. I read the screen on the ATM and it was very welcoming. As a matter of fact, it actually said, "Welcome". Boy, that made me feel like I was part of the Arvest family. Now, since I don't have an account at Arvest I thought this was a very kind gesture to a random customer who was just passing by and it gave me a warm feeling in the cockles of my heart. Wait a sec, what's a "cockle"? Should they be in my heart? Do I need to see a doctor? Nah, if I was in any danger then the good people at Arvest bank would surely shower me with concern. Okay, let's get back to my adventure now that I know I will live long enough to finish this review. The screen indicated that I should insert my card into the provided slot. There was a pictograph next to the slot that showed me how I should position my card so I may receive the most benefit from this wonderful piece of technology that we call an ATM. I inserted my card into the appropriate slot and it fit like a glove. I don't remember anyone from Arvest coming to my house to measure my card but they must have known the correct dimensions somehow. Is there no end to their genius? For those of you who are not "tech savvy" let me warn you that this particular ATM has a few prompts and questions to steer you to the financial transaction of your choice. When I indicated to the ATM that I wished to withdraw money in order to pay for my grandson's drum lesson at Sigler Music Center Teaching Studio it responded with a screen full of wonderful information. I was thoroughly enjoying myself as I perused the offered text on the screen. I haven't read a tale as intriguing and full of wonder since I was a child and I discovered the world of C.S. Lewis. As a matter of fact, I started to think that this ATM could by my own personal wardrobe that could transport me to a magical land of talking animals and fantastic adventures. My heart was truly aflutter as I soaked in every word of text on the screen. The joy I was feeling was taking me to heights which I had never known. I felt as if my spirit was leaving my body to soar as one with the angels. I could feel myself reaching a state of eternal bliss. Hold on a second! What is this? There is a minimum of $3.75 to use this ATM? Are you kidding? Why did my beloved ATM turn on me in my time of need? Why is there such cruelty in the world? How could I ever recover from this soul crushing betrayal? Why, God, why?! Oh wait, there's a First National Bank less than a block away that only charges $2.00. Yeah, screw this place.
