Whether you want to go fishing or just go up to the top deck and have a cold beer this pier is the ticket. It has been beat up pretty bad over the years by the hurricanes and most of the peers in Galveston have long been washed away. This one is hanging on by a thread. The top deck is $2 per person. They have a nice bar with great view of the Galveston Island and the Gulf.

There wasn't a question he couldn't answer, despite his youth. He handled everything for us, since we were inexperienced, unless we wanted to do it ourselves. He thoroughly knows the island waters. Galveston Party Boats was a great deep sea fishing experience! I was very surprised that some…read moreothers didn't have the same experience. The 12 hr fishing trip starts at 0730 and ends at 1930. Some people in our group had gone before and they recommended showing up at 0530 to get checked in, and make sure we were one of the first people in line to get a prime table in the inside cabin of the boat. Just fyi there's only so much space indoors, if you're late, you'll most likely be sitting on the outside deck where's it's definitely hot during the summer. We went during the end of July and from what I've heard this is prime RED SNAPPER season. Just know that federal law limits red snapper to 2 per person with a minimum length of 16" to keep it. Other fish, for the most part are unlimited depending on their size and type of fish you catch, like vermilion snapper for example. As far as the experience goes, expect a 4 hr boat ride out to sea, 4 hrs of fishing, then 4 hr boat ride back to Galveston. This is a full day event. They let you bring food and non alcoholic drinks on board as long as you use a small soft cooler or backpack only. No big hard coolers or alcohol allowed. Luckily they also have a grill onboard with a variety of snacks, burgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, drinks, and beer for sale. That double bacon cheeseburger was SO GOOD! After you get back to Galveston, there are guys waiting to clean/filet your fish for a small price if you want as well. Enjoy, I'll definitely be back again!

I had used Galveston Party Boats back in December and rated it 4.0 of 5.0. This time was not close…read more It seems the Federal Government canceled the opening of Red Snapper in Federal waters the day before our trip. (Snapper can only be found in Federal waters.) Galveston Party Boats chose not to notify its patrons of this until we were at the first stop and people started catching Red Snapper. They were then told they had to throw them back and could not keep any. Many people did not know how to properly deflate the swim bladder before throwing them back so there more dead red snapper floating than one could quickly count before the porpoise got them. The porpoise became so full that they became disinterested in the floating corpses. The captain did an average of 24 mph going out to a deep hole approximately 4 hours out and made three stops around the central hole. The third stop being the most productive for the vermillion snapper that we could keep. But this stop was cut short with the announcement that we were late going back into shore. I had to ask myself how could we be late when it took 4 hours to get to the hole and we were leaving approximately 4.5 hours before our trip end time. And he only averaged 16 mph going back in with less wind and calmer seas than going out. Then when i called the customer service number to express my concerns I was greeted by a very rude young man that informed me there was nothing they could do I had already used my tickets. What were we supposed to do, jump off the boat when they informed us at the first fishing stop that we could not keep the very fish we spent our money in search of. This was not a catch and release excursion.
