I had been a customer for several years, and never had any issues. Tellers have always been…read morecourteous and friendly, but then I always went through the drive-thru. The location is great, right down the street from my house. Their app works fine, and statements are always on time and accurate. Never really had any issues until I deposited a large check, the teller took it to the manager who returned and began questioning me as to the origins of the check, and why I had it. The check was from my attorney, and she actually asked me if I knew them... I responded with " Well... Typically I don't accept $xx,xxx checks from strangers, so...yeah...I've met my attorney.. Look, if you don't want my money in your bank I can take it elsewhere.." The account MANAGER actually TOSSED the check across the counter and said "Fine..take it somewhere else." and walked away.. Needing to deposit the funds, I had to eat crow and answer the rest of her 20 questions, they then held the check for 5 business days and froze my account, not even allowing me to access the existing funds in the account I had made the deposit in. When I returned after 3 business days to see if small portion of the funds could be released, the account manager snapped at me again.. "I told you it won't be available Thursday!" Very condescending and judgemental. I'm a 47 year old man with a family and a nice home, and a good job, and I know people can't make you feel any certain way, but I've never been this humiliated in my life. The staff stared at my wife, and didn't acknowledge her polite "Hello" when she noticed a younger teller staring at her...I have never been treated this way in my entire life.. I thought this ended after high school. I may as well have been buying lobster with food stamps. These women treated a long term customer like white trash. I know my little pittance of an account won't break them. But I just can't, in good conscience allow every dollar I ever earn or spend to flow through their hands. Just... humiliated...beyond offended. Totally unprofessional, and very upsetting. Ya know? Nobody puts Baby in a corner. I'll take the drive to Marion, or Mansfield. Closing my account as soon as everything clears.

In my last attempted transaction with United, I went inside to get 2 rolls of quarters and was denied business because I did not have a checking or savings account. The teller didn't ask if I have loans, of which I do. I have never been treated so poorly by a bank, credit or saving institute like this before. March 2019 my last loan will be paid off and I will NEVER have anything do to with United Bank again!!! The only reason I have to wait until then is United will charge me $150 if I pay this loan off more than 12 months early. UNITED PENALIZES CUSTOMERS $150 for paying loans off EARLY! For being a good customer! If I ran a business like this.. (fill in the blank for yourself). And I've been telling as may people as I can about both of these incidences.
