I was super happy with the transfer because it means I get to use the awesome classes. Body Balance is my fave and they offer a number of different sessions each week. Apart from the fantastic staff, people who attend here are pretty low key and I never feel out of place in the free weights area. There are also plenty of treadmills, bikes and elliptical thingies, so I've never had to wait. My only criticism is that there's only one set of light weights (1-10kg dumbbells). You would think for a gym this size they'd get a second set. It's a minor criticism and doesn't detract from my 5 star rating. Best gym ever!

The location is pretty conveniently placed on Adelaide Street just north of Central Station. Inside there is your standard fare of training equipment (treadmills, free weights, yoga mats, etc.) as well as 4 individual "pods" where you can take showers and change. Everything is well maintained and the staff is very helpful and courteous. To my knowledge, there's no other gym that is open 24 hours so this is definitely a godsend for when I'm working late at night. So in summary: good gym, good people, and low price equals a satisfied customer.

Excellent group fitness timetable with great instructors. They have all my favourites (Sh'Bam, Bodyjam, Attack, Balance etc) and their Go Girl Room is huge. Just be careful in the ladies bathroom - I do not know how many times I have walked into the mirrored wall!! :)

For new people, here are some of the "unofficial rules" that I didn't really know about and I learned the hard way: 1. Slower swimmers stay on the right side lane. I got dirty looks for swimming slow in the middle lanes. 2. Always swim on your left lane. 3. Rinse off in the shower before entering the pool. Also the pool is saline water so your skin doesn't turn into a raisin after swimming for hours.

Prior to the floods, the UQ pool was a popular place for those wishing to get their exercise in the water after a day at uni and for the lazier breed of student, like myself, who just enjoyed a paddle. During my college days, my friends and I would wander across campus with towels over our shoulders to take a dip in the pool and lay on the grassy slope for some sun and people-watching. Revised entry prices and opening hours are yet to be announced for the new aquatic complex, but one of the great things about the pool before the floods was that entry for UQ students was nice and cheap. Hopefully, it will stay that way, as entry to regular town pools is too pricey for my liking.

My lovely friend Arby loves to pop over to the pool on a lazy Saturday afternoon and soak up the rays - he swears it's the best place to take your kids to burn off some energy and often finds himself getting swept up in the colourful fantasy of the toddler's pool which sports giant water-spurting mushrooms. The pool has an impressive number of water slides and attractions for kids, plus a 50-metre 8-lane heated Olympic pool and a smaller 25-metre heated pool. They run a number of regular classes, all advertised at the pool and on their website, and entry fees are incredibly reasonable - $4.60 for an adult and $3.30 for a child. Not bad for a sunny day out!

When I've been there during staffed hours, the staff have been warm and helpful. The gym is very clean and nicely maintained. If you're in Morningside, I'd recommend checking it out. There is a free week trial on their webpage, but again you would need to go during staffed hours to get sorted. Note: I usually go in the afternoon or late night, so I can only comment on my off-peak time experience.

The price seems very affordable compared to other gyms in the area and has the benefit of offering a pay as you go contract rather than a lock in 6 or 12 month commitment. The facilities all look quite new and well maintained and the gym always looks clean. Some of the machines even have a TV and headphone jack so you can watch the tube while you work out, which is pretty cool. The staff are friendly and you get a free appointment with a fitness instructor when joining which is really good if gyms a foreign territory (they were to me). I usually go during the day time when it is quiet, but on the few times I've been at around 6 or 7pm the place can be packed. It's no problem if you aren't picky about which machine you use but if you've got a set workout waiting continuously for a machine to free up could get annoying. My main complaint however would be that at certain times some staff members put the music up to almost ear bleeding levels. When it happens its so bad that its impossible to listen to your own music through headphones because their music drowns it out. But this has only happened a few times. But overall, good facilities at a good price so Id recommend it.

What I want from a gym is a great range of classes, friendly staff and the option to visit gyms in other locations. Fitness First is delivering all of these, as a national and international chain. The Elizabeth St Platinum gym is my 'home gym', and let me tell you it is something special. Spread over four floors this new mecca of health and fitness has everything any gym junkie could want - a large range of free standing and machine weights, cardio equipment, sauna and steam room and of course studios for classes. My first class was sh'bam - it's kind of like Zumba, but much more gentle and fun. The instructor was pretty cool and we had fun. There's even a disco ball in the studio! Being a premium gym I expected it to be full of scary glamazons but it wasn't. Loads of people of all shapes and sizes were there making me feel like just one of the crowd rather than a fail whale. I have a good feeling that my membership won't be going to waste.

Can't even complete a workout due to long waiting times and weights being left around. Change rooms are constantly left a mess and not one bit of privacy. Will not be returning.
