Five Guys Cardiff has officially been open for two days!…read more Of course it's launch meant I had the perfect excuse to set aside my dried mango and rice paper rolls and indulge in something I secretly wish I could eat EVERYDAY! My boss offered to pay which subsequently encouraged a Five Guys free-for-all. In total 15 Burgers and 1 Hot Dog was ordered. The latter being mine. The Bacon Cheese Hot Dog with Jalapeños. Sliced down the middle, slightly crispy and ridiculously delicious. My only regret is ordering this while in work. I've had to undo the top button of my trousers and am currently attempting to resist the temptation of having a teeny tiny nap behind my computer screen. *pause for huge yawn* Food baby aside the online ordering system is super easy and allows you to arrange a pickup time that is convenient for you. Here, have some random Five Guy Facts before you scroll on... There are over 250,000 possible ways to order a Burger at Five Guys. They only use fresh roll stamped prime beef. There are no freezers in Five Guys locations, just coolers. Nothing is ever frozen. They only use Peanut Oil.

The restaurant has a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere and serves up an American-style BBQ menu. Portion sizes are big and the quality of the meat is never in doubt. On this visit I discovered their chicken wings, which have to be the best chicken wings I've had in the UK, and I'm struggling to remember any wings sampled in the U.S. that would beat them! The secret is definitely in the coating - I'm just gutted I didn't discover them sooner! Their southern fried chicken burger is my favourite burger from here, however unfortunately on this occasion they served it with blue cheese on top rather than the regular cheese I asked for. No problem though, they were more than happy to make a fresh burger which was just as delicious as always. The Surf, Bird & Turf Combo and BBQ Ribs are also great choices. My biggest plus about this place though is their fries; the best fries I've ever eaten. Consistently awesome on every visit, beautifully crispy and well-seasoned. Big 5 stars from me as I've had 5 fantastic meals here, and they have Brahma on tap which is a bonus.

It has been going for years, and has managed to hold on to its fine reputation for decent quality and value for money throughout that time. It IS rather tiny, however, so it's possible you could easily walk past and miss it - but once you've been there once for food, you'll be a complete convert. Basically, they do American fast food - mainly burgers. It's not healthy, and it's not complicated, but what they do they do very well. The belly-busting All American 1/2 pound burger with fries and a tub of blue cheese sauce seems to go down well with meat-eaters, while there's a generously proportioned veggie option for people like me who don't eat beef. They also do chicken and pizza, but to be honest if you go to Uncle Sam's it should be for a burger, because that's what they do best. Excellent value for money!

The restaurant is tiny and like other reviews have said it so easy to miss, so its beggars belief how such a small place can churn out such big and hearty portions of food. The price is ok but that is completely offset by taste of the food, as the juicy and flavourful chicken engulfs your taste buds. Of course chicken is not for everyone and they do have plenty of other dishes on the menu such as huge burgers (which have appeared to been given a real shout in other reviews) and pizza but honestly I personally think Uncle Sam's rules the roost!

We enjoyed the food and went back a few nights later. Plenty of vegetarian options and a nice selection of drinks and cocktails. A solid 4 stars from me (5 stars is reserved for my mind being blown). ATMOSPHERE: Really awesome. This location has everything upstairs so you enter and there's a few stairs or a lift to take you to the main area. The bar area boasts plenty of seating with stools and couches as well to cater to groups of various sizes. Despite being a bar, it's quite upscale and kept very clean. The décor is very interesting as well with a very interesting mural on the wall reminiscent of 1950s Soviet propaganda which definitely amused us! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Long queues at the bar, but the staff did their best to keep up with demand. After ordering food, everything took a reasonable time to arrive and our waitress took great care of us. No problems at all with the service. FOOD & DRINKS: Their pina colada was excellent. For food, I had the Roasted Pork Belly. Cooked very well, the only fault is that the gravy was a bit bland and required quite a bit of extra seasoning from myself to give it a bit more life. Also tried the Whole Baked Camembert which came with some chutney and bread. Can't go wrong with excellent camembert! --- Overall, the food was great and well cooked. Our large group was well looked after and everything came at the same time which a lot of places don't pull off well at all. No faults that I can find! I would definitely come back again.

One word: Poppadoms…read more Not what you would expect from a chinese restaurant, but amazing poppadoms. The best poppadoms I've ever had anyway. I think it may be testament to the quality and cleanliness of the oil in their fryer. But really good poppadoms. And, here's the best bit, they're free! I know! Free poppadoms! Unfortunately only if you spend over £10, but then who manages to order a chinese meal without it being that much. Now, this is a traditional British Chinese takeaway. You know, the really heavy, gloopy, greasy, salty loveliness that is a good Friday night chinese takeaway. The sort you eat til you burst. And bursting is a real possibility when you see the portion sizes! I always try and fool myself and say that I'll just get Singapore Noodles, cos its smaller than a meal and separate noodles. And then it arrives (they deliver) in a double size container! Although I like to 'forget' this the next time. The prawn toasts are amazing as well. Whole slices of white bread, deep fried and really good and hot prawny filling. Mmmmmm. If you want a feed, you want it delivered and you don't want to move afterwards (and a partial to left over chinese for breakfast, look em up and give em a call. Oh, did I mention the poppadoms?

I eat way more than I should do and it still feeds me for two days, even when I only order two dishes. The noodles are some of the best I've ever had, the chips are great, the meat is always tender, and if you order over £10 or £20, you get free poppadoms or prawn crackers respectively. Their menu is huge and they have a wide variety of vegetarian meals. They're also great with fussy eaters, happy to take out any ingredients you don't, or can't eat. They deliver to nearly everywhere in Cardiff and I've never waited more than 45 minutes for an order. And their food comes in those nice plastic tubs rather than tin trays, keeping it nice and warm while you're eating, and ideal for putting in the fridge to eat the next day.
