Five Guys at the White Rose is located in the outside part of the shopping centre in a row of restaurants opposite the Cineworld Cinema. It's a fairly large location but the interior resembles any Five Guys you'd see, the big bag of potatoes bang in the middle of the floor and the red and white theme.
I ordered the Little Cheeseburger in a lettuce wrap with small fries and a fountain drink - for a fast food joint, it is quite pricey with my meal coming to £16.15 - a meal which would have cost half as much at McDonald's, or even less in a more sit down restaurant.
After making the staff member aware of my allergy, I was handed an allergen card which showed what I could and could not have, my server still seemed very uncertain and originally asked if I wanted fresh or grilled onions even though the allergen sheet mentioned the grilled options are not advisable for me.
That being said, the food was actually pretty good, the fries were a generous portion with the extra scoop in the bag as Five Guys pride themselves in, they were fresh and seasoned well and some of the best fries I've had in a fast food joint, the burger was also good, while I would have liked a proper bun (I'm gluten-free and they don't have gluten-free buns), I liked the idea of a lettuce wrap which is something McDonald's and co don't bother with. The meat was good quality, and the fillings of the burger were also a generous portion.
The biggest problem with my meal was the drink - both of the Coca-Cola seemed poorly stocked. I was only able to get one serving of Fuzetea before it was showing unavailable, and my second choice drink of a Sprite also wasn't possible either. I felt annoyed paying £4+ for a refillable drink with many of the options not being possible.
That being said, the food is good, albeit at a premium. quite a few good points but also points that require improving. 3* read more
