No flavor, burger was dripping everywhere with grease and my kosher hot dog, the hot dog was cut length-wise and probably cooked on the hot plate. As you walk in you are aware that this is a very popular establishment....as you wait in line next to stacks of potatoes...you are greeted with signs letting you know how amazing their burgers are...well that gets your hopes up...(too high I think) Next you order...reg. means 2 patties and little means 1...I got the little bacon burger and the husband and I shared their cajun fries. * Burger.. good but the meat tasted unseasoned. The bacon was pieces not one piece...but it was crisp. *fries...greasy and cajun the fries were greasy but not crisp. Drinks...they only have 5 drinks on the menu..coke. diet. Sprite. Lem. And tea... but when you go to bev counter there are about 15 choices...lame Overall I have heard people compare 5 guys to InNout...and yes we can compare them...but In.N.out wins everytime...it is not tastier at 5 guys...it is not cheaper at 5 guys...it is just busier. Why is everyone comparing this place to In n Out? They are not the same thing and if I had to choose, Five Guys is the better burger. The burger tastes like something you'd make at home, not the typical fast food burger. I like that. I like the bacon cheeseburger because if you're going to assault your heart and arteries with animal fat, you may as well do it with style. This burger satisfies my craving for red meat and the bacon (Satan's candy) is an added bonus that I just can't resist. The fries, while good and plentiful, are nothing special to me. I really did enjoy the food. It was the price I had issues with. I like that the food is cooked in different oil to give the food a different taste and perhaps some other nutritional differences. For two people, it can get really expensive. We each got our own burger, fries, and a drink; We didn't know the fries were going to be so massive! Now the price makes sense! Recently, my boyfriend and I decided to try again (after our last visit quite a while ago) and we thought to ourselves, "Okay, we will each get our own burger and share a drink and fries, that will definitely lower the price!" I'm not going to front, I'm not really a burger person so when I do eat burgers I don't really have high expectations. So the first time I ate at Five Guys, I have to admit I was highly impress and excited to try it again. The size of the Little Cheeseburger was more than enough for me. And with the additional toppings for free I was Oh So Happy! The burgers come on a nice sesame bun, but unlike In-N-Out who spoils their customers with toasted buns, sadly Five Guys doesn't. But Five Guys do wrap your burgers in aluminum foil and the regular fries is yum-tastic. My second time here was last night. This time I ordered a Veggie Sandwich- basically a burger without the meat patty. Maybe they should consider renaming it Veggie Burger. But I can see the confusion, some people might think of it as a burger with a veggie patty and not as a meat-less burger. Anyways, I loaded my Veggie Sandwich with almost all the toppings and was a happy camper. It was perrrfect. However, the Cajun Fries is the reason I cannot be a fan of this burger joint. Maybe it was my batch of fries, but there was a lot of oil residue and the seasoning was way too salty. The peanuts is an additional bonus. Fun to crack open and eat while you wait for your food. But shakes are not available. Service can worse. Even though the staff isn't too friendly, they do come around to clean the tables and sweep the floor. read more

I really liked five guys, the food is fresh and good. They're menu is seemingly simple, but there is a bunch of stuff you can add to your burger to make it all your own. Being a simple person, all I had added was lettuce. The burger is made fresh, the moment you order the cashier shouts to the cook that they need one or two patties depending on the size of burger you got. It does take a little while to get, but it's the wait to be expected when getting your food made fresh. It's a little frustrating all the comparisons to In-and-Out this is getting considering In-and-Out really isn't that good, and this place is amazing. A lot of burger, not a ton of flavor. Kudos for adding extra options like jalapenos and mushrooms but they do little to improve the burger. Mushrooms I had were rubbery. Jalapenos were fresh cut not grilled so the jalapeno flavor did not come through. Fries were good. Fresh cut thick style. Don't order the large, the small is plenty. Get's heavy after eating a few. Interesting Burger place. They have peanuts in the shell why you wait and Stacks of Sacks of Potatoes. I guess there thing is the fries are cooked in Peanut oil. When you place your order you tell them what you want on your burger instead of what you don't want. Kind of an in n out feel.....with the whole fresh made to order feel. First try of Five Guy's Burgers & Fries...yes we will be back! First, what makes it unique. Peanuts while you wait...that was fun and I didn't expect it. All you can eat salted peanuts from the shell. The toppings (most free) are fun. They had grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and several different toppings so you can REALLY personalize your burger (bacon costs extra). Second, the quality of food. Pickles were fresh, the meat was very flavorful and cooked just right, the buns homemade. The fries were REALLY good and they give you plenty! Third the decor...kind of fun with the red & white colors, seating was fine although it was packed. They have outside seating as well. Restrooms were clean and overall the place was kept clean through a busy night...but where are the trash cans? Finally found trash cans by the drinks. Finally, service. It had been PACKED all day according to the staff but it had slowed down when we went (8:30pm Saturday). The counter staff was so patient and explained everything since it was our first time in. It did seem to take a LONG time to get our food (since it wasn't as packed at that moment). I actually went up to the counter because I was worried I had not heard our number called...the burgers were up, but they had some other "issues" they were dealing with so they had not been bagged (btw, everything comes out in a bag...even eating in). So, I am just going to assume they will get quicker in service as they get experience. Try it...it is unique and fun. I have to say I still like In&Out better, but this is my regular alternative to In&Out since it is different. read more

Having heard about how good this place was, I had to try it for myself. My wife and I ate here and we were pleasantly surprised how good they were. As we are both big fans of In-N-Out, we felt that this place was an excellent alternative. The burgers were juicy, the fries were great, and the food portion was outstanding. I've grown up on In n Out for the past 20 years so it's a struggle for me to say that this place is better than In n Out... however, I definitely do enjoy coming here every once in a while. It's a little bit pricier than In n Out , but like Michael L said, you do leave a little more filled than you do at In n Out. And free peanuts?? Definitely a plus. If you're coming here for the first time it can definitely feel a little overwhelming with the amount of toppings and burger sizes, but just take your time and start off with what you like. I'd just like to say that I'm born and raised in California, so naturally, I thought In N out was the best place for fast food burgers. Holy crap, I was wrong. I love Five guys! You can taste the great quality of the meat, so I'm willing to shell out the extra money on it. Their regular fries are super boring, so I opt for the cajun fries; they have a little kick to them thats just perfect. They give you a crap ton of fries, so a regular is good for 2 people, large for 3. I usually just have lettuce, tomato, mayo, and ketchup to my little burger, but sometimes I'll get the little bacon cheeseburger with barbecue sauce.. its almost like a Carls Jr western burger without the onion ring. I like the idea of being able to put as many toppings as you'd like on your burger. I really hope they put one here in North County! The drive to Temecula from Vista kinda sucks. read more

My wife loves 5 guys, I prefer to make burgers at home, so we compromise and get 5 guys! Seriously though, burgers are one of those things that if you can't hold it down at home, you should really re-evaluate your life to see what you're doing wrong. That said, I had never eaten at 5 guys until my wife insisted that we try it. After finishing my first burger, I was pleasantly surprised at how good it was. I didn't realize that I had to order a 'little' hamburger to get one patty, but hey, I was hungry and the two went down so well. Also I'm fat. The fries are good here too! My only complaint is that they dump them on top of your food all willy nilly, and I don't like that. I'm sure it's company policy, and not just this location, but still...I don't want extra fries just thrown onto my food. We've been back several times for our standing friday lunch date, and I have yet to be disappointed. read more

I have heard rave reviews about this place from people, so we really wanted to go. The appearance inside is inviting and interesting, love the peanut cups you can dish yourself. A little on the warm side for the temperature. As for the food, I am not impressed at all. The ingredients are good quality, and the bread is very fresh. However, they burgers are SO small and expensive. Little burger is one patty, but regular is two patties, but does not mean larger in size. The cajun fries are gross taste like fish. Well is it expensive or it market value? 4.99 for a double burger each 1/4 lb. so it is a half pound. Really not a bad deal. I got the single burger which was like 3.75 I believe and any toppings I wanted. 2.75 for small fries- the guy filled up my cup and then gave me another scoop and threw them in the bag so in essence it was a large order. small drink was 1.99 I think. So the total for a small burger, small fries and small drink was just under 9 bucks with tax. Burger Lounge definitely has a better burger and very good fries for nearly the same money. I liked the thicker fries here than In and Out's which I think taste like plastic sometimes. I liked the burger also as it was fairly thick and tasted more home made and not so thin like so many other places. Overall I like this place better than In and Out. In and Out is cheaper yes, but this place to me tastes more like a burger you make in your backyard on the grill which is a good thing. Just a touch expensive for what it is but for a fast food burger joint I enjoyed it. read more

I've heard that this burger place was better than In-and-Out. Some parts were, other parts weren't. Con: No shakes/no ice cream/no dessert! The fries were definitely better than In-and-Out but they needed to be dipped in cheese sauce or ranch; and I do think some were a bit overcooked...giving them an earthy taste I wasn't expecting. The actual hamburger meat was tasty. When I left Five Guys...I felt as if something were missing. Now I know what that is. They don't make anything that I couldn't do on my own at home. They don't have a distinct flavor as does In-and-Out and other burger places. Their fries and burgers could be easily recreated at home with the same basic, fresh ingredients. All in all it was good but not impressed. I think that it's just a personal preference. I prefer Fudrucker's style with lots of topping choices and the atmosphere is better. As far as atmosphere...listening to 8-10 yound teenagers laugh and joke and talk while eating dinner isn't my style of a good dining experience. Also, I don't see myself craving it or choosing to go there over the few other places in the area to eat dinner such as Islands, Red Robin, Lazy Dog, or Yard House (all within 2 minutes of Five Guys). I love the food but it's the employees attitudes is what makes me not want to go back, came here today around 2 pm and ordered 4 burgers for my family and I and the cook rolled his eyes when they received the ticket, they also told me I didn't order a milkshake when I did and showed them the recipient. I would rate a 3.5 if the option were available. I'll keep this one short. Burger: I was satisfied, a little soggy, but was still pretty good. This is more of a homemade type burger compared to In-N-Out/EZ Take Out. Fries: The fries were so-so. Not sure if I like these more than In-n-out fries, which are a completely different style from one another. I'm not a fan of either. McDonald's fries FTMFW! *Oh, and when ordering fries remember that they will pour in another scoop of fries into your bag so you might be good with just a small order of fries. The only reason why I didn't give this place the 5th star was the fries and the service. The fries you get a TON of, so thats a saving grace, but the taste it well... ours were all burned. I guess that happens with natural cut fries, but still. And the service was completely less than mediocre. I get the place was busy, but I think that at the counters, they could at least act like they want our business. I am not a picky eater. And as long as the burger is remotely good, then I'm Good. Five guys sure as hell delivers when you want a decent burger. However, I did feel that the food was a bit pricey. For the three of us, it was 2 drinks, 2 big burgers, 1 little burger, and 1 large fry for a whopping total of $25. I think I would have been better satisfied going to in and out and would have gotten MORE food for the money. However, price is a small thing if it means you get amazing food. Unfortunately, Five Guy's burgers were nothing special. I also had another major complaint. The main reason why they only get two stars. I don't know if its ALL five guys locations or just here in Temecula, but the place was filthy. Peanut shells and dirty tables everywhere. Trash cans were full. WTF is the manager on duty thinking letting his place look like a goddamn dump? Sure it was a Friday, and a little busy but not so busy that they couldn't put a little effort cleaning the damn place. It was my first time there, and if this is going to be the norm my rating of their location is justified. Right now, I have no incentive to go back. Who wants to pay $25 for 3 people, when the place you're eating in is so filthy you have to wipe down your own tables and seats just to sit down? That's just poor management. My recommendation is to take a step in and glance around. If the place is filthy, stay away. Don't let the line fool you. read more

I have been hearing about this place quite a bit, and after today, I believe the stories! The food was excellent really, the burger was flavorful, delicious and not greasy (big bonus points with me). The fries were delicious and even a small order could easily be shared between 2-3 people. Pricing was pretty fair in my opinion, I expected to pay more but was pleasantly surprised to not have to.
