Can't express my appreciation for their above and beyond services in helping my problem. Today, my electric for the master bedroom and bath room are all shot down. I reset the circuit button and the circuit breaker, but can't bring the electric back. So I contact Five or Free, since they did a wonderful job in June for my kitchen light. John Booren called me back promptly, understand my issue, but told me that their schedule is full till the end of the week. To help out my situation, John asked more details on the issue, how I reset, and recommend me to do some process of resetting as he instructed. It worked! Can't express my relief and appreciation. There are plenty of other electricians/companies out there and I'd suggest going with someone else. The tech quoted me $4700.00 for a generator transfer switch and said it was originally 7k. What a joke. I think they forget that we have the ability to get quotes from other vendors and customers can and do their homework prior to securing a vendor. The tech had to call another technician that specializes in generator transfer switches. Why would the company send a tech out that didn't know what to do in the first place. FYI: all the other electricians quoted 1K to $1500. Go elsewhere. read more

From the very begin trying to get a quote was kind slow but soon Sal received the pictures I took according to his direction was able to assess the project -- install 40A 240V EV charging station and started 2 days after. I dont want to give a low score because I dkd not proceed, but my experienced retired contractor friend advised me to go elsewhere when he saw the $3,500+ quote to replqce my subpanel. First, I ended up getting the job done for $150 by my hanyman when I figired out it waa just a circuit breaker replacement. Second, there was nothing wrong with the panel itself. My contractor friend said look for rusting/corrosion around the bus bar and there was none. Third, the rationale to replace the subpanel was due to the current one being out of code, not because it failed. However, there is no reason or requrement to bring it up to code for a circuit breaker swap. Fourth, even if there truly was a reason to replace the panel, their quote was double of what it should cost. Fifth, even though I did not proceed they kept sending auotmated messahes to review them. My contractor called them hustlers, but you be the judge. I have a lot of property and I go elsewhere, but if you want prompt response, professionalism, dont worry abiut overpaying for stuff, maybe this vendor is for you. When I was preparing my house for sale, a home inspector surprised me by informing me the electrical panel was substandard and needed replacement. The first contractor I contacted, a specialist in such replacements, told me the panel had to be moved to meet code, the only suitable spot was in front of the house, but the City would not approve placement there due to esthetics. He advised me to apply for a variance with the Planning department, which he predicted would take five months, and after that to call him again. Needless to say, I checked with multiple other contractors and heard other opinions, but did not find one I trusted who seemed to know what they were talking about and quoted a reasonable price. They all expected me to obtain approvals from the electrical supplier and government entities before they would start work. Finally, I called Five or Free Electric. The experience with Five or Free was a cut above all the others. They were prompt, confident, knowledgeable, and assured me they would handle any and all contact with government inspectors and PG&E. Their price was comparable with that quoted by the "expert" I had first talked with. Above all, they were true to their word, performing excellent work in accord with the timetable they had proposed. I would actually give Five or Free 10 stars if I could!!! My experience with them was nothing but professional, accommodating and responsive. We had just moved into our home when we were faced with some wiring issues. Many of our plugs were not grounded especially the ones that our 60" television needed to use. In fact there was no power to that outlet!! One phone call and Emmanuel was ringing the doorbell!! After a thorough review of our situation he made a recommendation that involved making our old knob and tube wiring safe without rewiring the whole house and putting in overhead wiring for an overhead lamp. The next morning Josh and his crew showed up before 9 and worked tirelessly the whole day... no stopping for lunch!!! Their communication was flawless!!! I was told that replacing my electrical panel was a good idea since I am having an HVAC system installed. I called around for quotes for this and this was by far the most responsive company. They graciously rescheduled after I had to cancel the first appointment and came by with a field tech and installer. They carefully went over what they would do and for what price and clued me into why their company is named what it is which....I have to say is a great gimmick and a real selling point. I suggest you ask them to tell you what it means. They came in at a higher bid than most of the other companies but the level of detail and face to face customer service made the final price worth it. Allen was super personable and very knowledgeable. He had another cool soft spoken dude with a beard with him but I don't recall his name. They went the extra mile and did some patchwork and finishing work to make sure I was happy and provided me with temporary power so that I could work while they worked. I was stunned when they completed the job in one day. All of the workers that came with Allen were courteous, professional, thoughtful and efficient. Job was to install a new fan/light fixture in bedroom & remove a ditto in kitchen and replace with a plain light fixture. Eddie & Chris arrived on time and went right to work. They cheerfully accommodated my own screw-up as I discovered at the last minute that the kitchen light fixture I'd picked was way too big and I had to make a quick run to buy another light. They made helpful suggestions, cleaned up properly, and did an added job replacing a light switch. Only problem was that they didn't notice that the fan light bulbs supplied weren't compatible with the new dimmer switch. read more
