They immediately went to the reception desk to ask for another room with either a queen bed or two single beds. They were told there were no other rooms available. My niece explained that it would be unacceptable for the both of them to sleep together in such a small bed. The original person with whom they spoke seemed flustered and was unable to deal with the situation. This young woman then went to the bar to ask another young woman for help. This young woman told my niece, not to worry, she would have a cot sent to the room. They thought the situation was resolved. It was not! Later, when my niece and husband returned to the room, there was no cot. When they went to the reception desk, another woman stated there were no cots. My niece, again, explained the situation and what they had been told. The third woman consulted with the two young girls, who would not come the desk to speak to my husband and niece, because they could not face being liars. The incompetence and lack of knowledge of the staff was quite amazing. The two young girls lied in a cowardly manner and told the third representative they did not tell my husband and niece the hotel would provide a cot. We have had problems with hotels in America, as everyone who lives here and travels has at some point in time, but we have not encountered liars. My niece then spoke to a gentleman (if you can call someone who is unwilling to help visitors in another country) who refused to believe what happened and would not provide any additional assistance. My husband and niece left the hotel late at night to find another place to stay. If this hotel and its representatives had any class someone would have apologized and called another hotel to get a reservation. What scam artists!!! Very poor customer skills by all. We were granted a refund by American Express, who provides extraordinary customer service, but the hotel rebilled us asking for proof of their dishonorable behavior. Now I can only think those working at this hotel have no ethics since they are basing their charge on their representatives lying to visitors. Such a lack of sophistication and professional is quite amazing. I wonder if the people working at the hotel even have the ability to be embarrassed by their behavior.

I immediately turned on the AC and noticed it was blowing hot air. I called the front desk and no one answered so I went down. I was told the AC unit was broken and someone was onsite to repair, it should be fixed soon. If not, they would give us a fan and show us a trick to unlock the window. We left for a couple hours to have dinner and came back. The room was very warm. The person said it shouldn't be too warm, but said the would bring a fan. When the front desk gentlemen walked in he mentioned how warm it was and apologized. He set up the fan and unlocked the window for us. After this the room was manageable. My friend who had a room on another floor said her room was not as warm either so there was definitely an issue with our room. Other than the hot room and difficulty with the parking the stay was fine. If it had been summer I don't think I would have been able to stay in that room.

And we needed to stay late after our check out because our bus didn't leave until later & the staff were very kind & welcoming to us staying in the lobby until later. The kitchen is large & fully equipped even with spices. The rooms were spacious and the heaters worked very well. The only downside was the showers turned off automatically so it was really cold taking a shower and you have to press the button every 30 seconds but im sure they were just trying to save water.

The big plus is that even when the hostel is overbooked, there are still options like an occasional bed. Nevertheless the hostel is small, corridors and stair house are cramped. One of the unisex bathrooms doesn't have a lock. A huge huge minus in my opinion are the video cams in common rooms. I do understand a security concerns, but eating and cooking under surveillance was not so agreeable. Weekends are little noisy, because of the bars downstairs. But on the other hand you are in the middle of Nurnberg's shopping/ museum / bar&club mile. So why stay inside? City Hostel definitely better than the Let me Sleep-Hostel! Cleaner and quieter. This one is really nice. However, I booked a double room with a single matress for me and my wife - I particularly asked for ONE matress and not two, knowing they do have rooms with such matressses. Sadly, they failed - and on request said they do not have any rooms with one matress anymore. Next morning, my make up artist told me she had a room with one huge matress. If you want to get good ratings, never lie to your customers. They may find out - and you look bad.
