Worst staff ever I have ever seen at Edison facility. You can't put your point across while talking to them. They are here to make money by keeping the child at same level as long as possible in a way demotivating the child. Make money people but not at the expense of emotions of these innocent kids. I came recommended to join Five Star Swim School by 3 people and I've been pleased so far! We looked around a few places and though Five Star Swim prices is a bit higher, I have to say that I have spent it wisely so far. We enrolled our 3 year old this past summer for a summer semi-private session. Semi-Private classes will have 2 instructors with 3-4 kids. I was really nervous having her take this class with strangers. On Day 1, Miss Joanna, who was our main instructor, couldn't make it to the class and they had assigned a substitute for that class which happened to be a male instructor. Unfortunately, my daughter had an issue with that so she refused to get in. However, there was a kind instructor, Miss Maria, who was on duty came towards us and kindly asked my daughter if she wanted to go into the pool and she proceeded as if she was the main instructor. I was so grateful for her to step in to get my daughter in the water especially to make my daughter's first day a great experience! THANK YOU! Just shortly after 1 month of taking the class, my daughter was brave enough to let go off her floaties during a summer pool event with the family. We've already enrolled her to the winter session but this time for a private session with Miss Maria and it's been unbelievable the progress she has made in the last several weeks. She's becoming a stronger and motivated swimmer with her. I've been also pleased with several instructors who had the chance to teach my daughter when Miss Joanna and Miss Maria were not there. They are all well trained and know how to deal with all these children especially around 3-4 year olds. Thank you Five Star! I'll be recommending this place. PS: this pool has chlorine and also saltwater. My daughter has eczema and I have noticed that her skin have not been dry like other times when she goes to other pools... the saltwater is definitely a plus and the pool temperature is always warm for her! read more

Buyer beware, read these reviews. The negative reviews are true, the positive reviews probably haven't had their negative experience yet but it's only a matter of time. I'm so glad that there are more options popping up in this area. (1) Dishonest pricing policies, my son had been attending pre-COVID and we paused during COVID. When we returned all of a sudden there was a member registration fee we had never paid before. Also the month in advance payment so you're always hooked into to two months. (2) Arbitrary rules, there are many of these but I'll give you one example. You can only schedule make up classes 10 days out. If you schedule a make up class and give them advance notice (6 days) they will not reschedule. Such ridiculous rules that have no rhyme or reason. (3) Another arbitrary rule that has been a serious concern for me is that as a mom I take my son to this swim school but since he is over 4 he has to go to the boys bathroom by himself. He is too young to go to the bathroom alone but yet again this is one of the random rules. He's not allowed to go to the woman's restroom with me. (4) There is visible mold on the door entering the pool. (5) They really aren't trying to help your kid learn to swim and advance. My son was in Guppies 2 and wasn't advancing until I called them out on it and all of a sudden he was in Dolphin 1. They do this to keep you laying longer. (6) The coddling of the students isn't to their benefit. My son went to Woodbridge Community Center summer camp and on their swim days he had to wear a life vest as he didn't pass their basic test. While I can swim a little, I have always wanted to take swim classes, and now at 47 years old I was feeling a little hesitant. The office staff and instructors put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. The school is located in a nice area with plenty of parking. The pool and locker rooms are clean, well lit and maintained well. After my introductory lesson, I was happy to sign up for regular classes. I am looking forward to becoming a much better swimmer, increasing my endurance and adding this to my weekly workout routine. read more

My son has been going here 7 months and things have been fine until now. The instructors are good and patient. However, when we showed up for his class today we were told he was signed up for a different class. They showed me the paperwork that said the new time (which did not include my signature on the page with the time), and unfortunately I don't have my original paper to double check that I made the mistake. At least 4 other parents had the same problem while I was there. Something is definitely wrong with their scheduling process if so many parents get it wrong. Today's class was also horrible. There were 3 different classes in the pool, each with 6 kids. That left little room for each class and was pretty chaotic. My son's class was only able to finish half the stuff they normally do. My son wasn't able to dive for the ring or do "tickle t snap", two of his favorite things. One of the instructors did take the time today to correct his kicks, most of the instructors rush through things to finish. I wish there was better consistency between instuctors. read more

Jumping is one of the favorite for all kids at the end of each class. But this is not maintained in proper, kids take their own chances of jumping by taking over the line and the staffs has no idea who is jumping. Some kids today jumped nearly for 3 times where some in line didn't jump at least for 1 time. Parents watching this might be happy about their kids getting many round of jumping and doesn't care about anyone else in line. I would suggest staff to monitor this and make sure all kids got an opportunity to jump one time before allowing the kids for next round. read more

I looked at multiple schools when I decided to put my twins in swimming. They started at 2 yo with Mommy and Me and progressed to swimming alone. The teachers are great and did a good job wrangling my crazy 2, sometimes even into the pool. We stopped at 3 yo but the boys still practice the skills they learned thus far. My children have been a part of Five Star Swim School for over 4 years. The front desk staff, in particular the Office Manager Monali, is extremely polite and helpful. I originally contacted this place for possibly booking my daughter's birthday party. I had called and emailed the night before and mentioned that I'd be coming in the following day to check out the facility before agreeing to put down the stated nonrefundable $100 deposit. When I got there, after sitting through traffic after work, they told me they already booked the slot I was interested in. I was very disappointed and more frustrated because there was no courtesy call made to me to 1. Let me know someone else is ready to put a deposit and would like me to make a decision asap or 2. Let me know to not waste my time coming anymore cause they already gave my interested slot away. That is poor customer service if you ask me. Aside from that, I would like to comment that the facility itself is a decent size and looks clean. Management should train their employees better. read more

My son really learned to swim in this school their system is very good and the instructors are very patient and nice. However the staff in the office is horrible to work with, they are set on their ways not friendly and not helpful at all. Besides their make up policy is too strict one class per cycle that's 10 or 14 weeks unless you have a doctor note otherwise you loose the class sometimes kids get a cold and you don't want them swimming but you don't take them to the doctor either. read more

Worst customer service ever! They tried to fail my kids for a third time in level 1 earlier this year. Only when my husband complained and had the manager test my kids did she finally admit they were ready for level 2. What if we had not complained...we would be wasting money and time on level 1 lessons again. Not only that I had personally made several calls for the owner to call me back. The owner never called me back despite leaving messages. Days later a young manager calls me back and responds to my emails not the owner as I had requested. Nice school to learn swimming, close to 1 year now and it's phenomenal experience for my son. Appreciate the staff who were patience enough to work with kids at all times. Though it's not a fast learning, it's medium and learning the stuffs at right time. Real fun is at the final moment of jumping at the end of each class. They are not good at all. The mix the kids from other level and do not focus on your kid. There is no proper test to clear a level and hence they keep your kid in same level with new kids. Receptionist has no clue when the kid will be promoted. when you ask she will say let me ask instructor. So actually you waste your money with kids who are new and those who know swim. They want you to keep wasting money and they will keep your child in the same level for at least 2 times. The receptionist is very rude and not ready to help you in any ways. They are rigid in make up classes. Over all I spent 2 levels for my 5 year old kid for almost 5 months and spent $600, but no benefit. Bad experience. read more

I think 5 start swim school should be called No STAR Swim school. After 2 years of attending 5 STAR swim school for my child I will say I am extremely disappointed with their staff including the manager Monali and instructor Taylor. They made false statements to me and my child that he would be moving up to the next level by the end of the session and when it was time to move him up the instructor Taylor flatly refused that she had made any such statements. The instructors keep changing almost every week and there is no consistency in how they teach you swimming. Extremely overcrowded, poorly managed swim school and overpriced swim lessons for poor quality and inconsistent swim lessons. I recommend don't waste your time and money on a place like this which will only disappoint you and your child sooner or later!!! read more

My 4yo daughter has been taking classes here for a little over a year. I like this particular swim school after trying many others (YMCA, Ricochet, etc) due to the small class ratios and the teachers are all really patient with her. I was surprised they don't teach with floaties but their methods work. Bonus that she doesn't smell like a chlorine bomb coming out of the pool. I'd definitely recommend this school. read more

This is probably the worst staff I have ever encountered. Both my kids were continuously sick during the winter session so I called them on a Monday and explained the situation and the staff member working that day said to come in and withdraw them and they would credit the 9 classes I didnt do for the session. I went in on Wednesday and the staff member there (different from the one I spoke to monday) said I cannot get credit for the class I missed on Monday and Tuesday cus I didnt come in before the class took place on Tuesday. Instead I can't Wednesday. The staff member argued and was super rude and they didnt care about customer service at all. She continued to argue over giving me 1 class. She even called the manager and the manager didnt care and just said they wont do anything. Take my advice and take your money to another school. Even the class is said to be 30 minutes but they basically take their own sweet time and dont really care if the student gets what they pay for or not. This school is overly priced and they dont give you crap. Not even customer service. They keep stating their staff is well trained but obviously they are not. They dont put customers first they only care about themselves and stealing your money. Again, DO NOT GO HERE. TAKE YOUR MONEY TO THE YMCA RIGHT NEXT DOOR ON OAK TREE ROAD. YOU WILL AT LEAST GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. Also, they do not enforce their rules on older boys changing in the girls locker room. You will see 10 year old boys in the girls locker room changing in front of little girls and these people dont do anything. I wouldn't even give this place 1 star. They advertise small classes a 3 on 1 ratio I believe, However what it's really like is 6 kids in a class with 2 teachers but once in a while I have had 7 in a class before. So what ends up happening is the kids go one by one taking turns and my child ends up getting less than half the attention. I also did not like the fact that the instructor are young and are inconsistent we have had maybe 4 different teachers in one session. Look around for other programs we are now at another school that is actually a true 2 on 1 ratio for basically the same price! read more

This place has the worst customer service ever!!!! The office staff is very hostile, not willing to work with you on requests/changes and the answer is always NO with a hostile face. Their goal is take the money from us and when things change, their first answer is that they don't do refunds. I had a long conversation with the manager who was super defensive telling me that I read the policies and agreed to it and that they don't do refunds but if I asked cash they would have given me cash but since I never asked it was my fault??? How would anyone know that no refund did not mean cash refund but just credit card??? And, it is a pain to get off the program as again they don't do refunds but after talking to the manager for 20 mins there is a way to get out by filling the withdrawal form??? Super disappointed with the customer service, they think that they are the lords and can do anything they want. Very good trainers, I knew nothing about swimming before joining the class but now I know how to. I am pleased with the way that the class starts "on dot" and ends "on dot", they manage the timings well. Pleased with the way Steffany conducts my class. Trainers are good and very well mannered and friendly. My only issue is about the swimming space a member gets during trainings, I think they should provide more swim space for adult members, it gets a little tight sometimes when 3 students try and learn together in that 3-4 ft of allotted width. Also a suggestion, please make new programs for adult beginners to learn more (indepth) as in conduct "intermediate to advanced level" swim lessons for adults who have successfully completed the beginners level. The course is priced right, other places you have to pay a hefty membership (club) fees, here they don't do that, they charge you a reasonable one time admission fee, thats it. Nice! continue the good work, only if you had a bigger pool area :) read more

If I can give them no stars I would! I came here for a free swimming lesson for my 1 year old daughter. Her appointment was at 10:00 I got there at 10:25 cause I could not find the place at all!! I woke up extra early to make sure my daughter was not late! Woke her up out of her sleep got her ready and drove to the place at 8:30am the sign of the place is SOOO small and it not even on the store locator in the beginning of the parking lot! And I called 10 times! And no one picked up the phone! Anyways I walked in thinking okay I'm late maybe if I explain why they will understand and since it's my daughters first time they won't turn us away cause they should wAnna put on a good expression for new customers. Well no! I walked in and went into the office and some snobby lady was sitting at the desk looking as if someone just killed her dog! She was very rude told me she couldn't let my daughter into the class cause it had already started and my daughter was soooo excited it broke my heart! I was devastated for her. Then I explained to her told her the sign is really small we could not find the place and she responded saying sorry I don't make the signs.. Like wtf!?.. Then I told her I had called a few times to get help finding U guys and btw was in the phone when I walked in.. She tells me well sorry I can't put others on hold to pick up another phone call. Like who the hell trained this women!? Idk of she's the manager but got damn that is some poor costumer service an i will NEVER come back to this place with my child!
