Amazing tour through a still working marble mine. You will have to put on a hard hat & life jacket…read more(yes, a life jacket) because you'll get on boats to float through the unused portion of the mine to see beautiful the marble left in the mine and the chandeliers they made as well as drink the tasty pure water that the mountain has purified for you. I only knocked off one star because it was a little hard to hear with people oohing and aahing over everything.

We were dropped off at the start of an elevated boardwalk which gave a beautiful view of narrow, high ravine which the Valldøla Rivers rushes through. The waterfall is such a nice view. Love the rainbow that it creates. The boardwalk is also so interesting. The iron walkway weaves back and forth leading to other short hikes. Check out the information board to find other trails. There are also free bathrooms and a few farmers selling the most delicious strawberries and raspberries. A nice place to stop on the way to Trollstigen from Alesund.

We used Google translate to communicate from Arabic and Russian to English. It was like being in a UN meeting as we navigated throughout the day and learned about his journey bringing his family from Syria to Molde, Norway. So interesting how you are in a school for a year to learn Norwegian and then have to live in a city for seven years before you can apply for citizenship. As far as Varden Viewpoint, it was okay, but definitely not a highlight for our group. The views are beautiful and we were so grateful to have skipped the 60 minute hike along a dusty trail, but I would have spent longer at the Atlantic Ocean Road if I went again.
