From its impressive size to the thoughtful, hands-on amenities, it's easily one of the most welcoming and resource-rich public spaces we've encountered. As a parent of a toddler, I especially appreciate the expansive kids' area. It's filled with engaging materials, from early reader books to sensory toys, pretend play stations, and a generously sized indoor play zone. My child loves building with large Legos, exploring the dollhouses and kitchenette, and tinkering with pretend tools at the workbenches. The wooden train tracks are fun too -- though you'll have to bring your own train engine! The variety here is outstanding, making every visit feel fresh and exciting. The library's offerings go far beyond children's resources. There's a remarkable adult STEM innovation area housed in a dedicated space donated by Embry Riddle Aeronautical University. It features sewing machines, a 3D printer, vinyl cutter, and more. Most equipment requires appointments (often booked up about a week in advance), but once you're in, the possibilities are inspiring. One of the staff members gave us an incredibly thorough 30-minute tour -- the best I've ever had at any library -- marked by passion, knowledge, and genuine hospitality. Much of this wonder is made possible by generous donors like the Robinson family, Embry Riddle, Friends of the Library, and many others who've helped shape this space into what it is today. Whether you're a curious adult, a creative teen, or a parent looking to enrich your child's day, the Daytona Beach Public Library has something for you. Highly recommend. Small but friendly…read more The Astor Library is a small place, not a lot of room on the inside and certainly not much to look at from the outside. However it is one of the coziest, comfortable and friendliest library that I have been in. Not a lot of space but everything is arraigned with thought and purpose in mind. User friendly is an understatement for this library. The library doesn't have a lot of space for a large amount of books but it does have computers, wi-fi, a great used book section and a cool little spot for kids. Because of the great use of space and some considerable thought, this library functions as though it is much larger. Nothing is forced here and everything seems to be where it is suppose to be. As with all excellent libraries the best and most valuable assets here were the librarians. Amazingly friendly and pleasant, we talked with them about the history and present things in town and they managed to entertain and edify us without missing a beat on their library tasks. Other people would come and go and just kind of flowed into and out of the conversations. This is definitely not the type of place to tell you to be quiet. A little library that doesn't look like much on the outside but we were able to learn so much without even trying and had a great time every second we were here. We were sorry to leave and even more sorry that we didn't live closer. A wonderful place that does everything a library is suppose to do and also manages to do so much more.

Books crooks and…read morepoliticians The Pierson Public Library is a very small library with only one room. But it's a building with an interesting history before it ended up as a library. At one time the diminutive building contained the town hall and even a small jail. The fire place from the town hall is still visible but with all the books it's difficult to imagine the jail. The library today is very clean, neat and well organized but it is indeed tiny. There are a row of computers tucked over to the side and even some used book in the hallway. A library that makes the most with what it has. The librarian was very friendly and pleasant and we did find some interesting used books. The outside of the building is quite interesting and it doesn't quite seem like there should be library inside. A small place that has a big history.

Tons of outlets to plug in your devices wherever you want to sit. There is also a gallery space and other displays throughout the library with artwork. Also, one of the most interesting automated storage and retrieval facility systems I've ever seen. It is super tall and stores over 12,000 bins holding numerous boxed items in a temperature controlled environment to protect the items.

The standout is definitely the main dome building inside. The interior is genuinely stunning, like the kind of place that makes you feel like you're in Europe somewhere rather than Florida. We were not expecting that at all. We also happened to walk through the quad right as some kind of dunk tank event was going on where students were getting people to pay to try to dunk faculty members. We had no idea what was going on but we stopped and watched for a while because how could you not? If you're already in St. Augustine it's an easy and free thing to add to your day. Just walk around, admire the beauty, and hope you get lucky enough to catch something fun happening on campus like we did.

The Jack Hunt Memorial Library is actually part of the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University but is open to the public. You can even get a special library card and take the books out. Just about every geeky book even written is in here. Besides the incredible assortment of geeky books, the library is actually quite lovely. Lots of nice and comfy places to sit and very cool pictures and posters of airplanes as well as a whole bunch of model airplanes from different time periods. They even have a real glider hanging from the ceiling. No doubt what this place is about, the very cool geekiness is literally dripping off the walls. No, you won't find many mushy books or best sellers here but it you ever have a sudden desire to review some fiendishly difficult non linear differential equations, this is your place.
