It's vegan, gluten free and pretty much made of goodness. I'm such a fan. Anyway, I ordered the avo toast with salmon and button mushrooms with a house-made booch which came topped with fresh fruit. Their food is always killer and today did not disappoint. My friend always gets the eggs with bacon on toast and she was in good heaven following her meal. It's ALWAYS packed here so be prepared to stand in line. I will say though that the staff here is always on top of their stuff and are willing to work with you to create modifications. There's two locations of Bondi Wholefoods, one in Surry and one in Bondi. The Surry Hills one is the second location and I much rather go to Bondi Wholefoods in Bondi, lol. If you're in the Bondi area and don't want to eat like a tourist, check this place out. My rule of thumb is usually the more people there means better word of mouth and better food. Be prepared for some beautiful brunch!

So many unique touches to really make the experience a memorable one. When we got our order I admired the food art for a little too long and almost didn't want to eat and ruin the beautiful bowls before us... ALMOST!! When I first dipped my spoon into the Ocean Bowl, I was instantly taken to a tropical paradise in one fabulous bite of the strawberry and passion fruit together. Wow is pretty much all I could say between bites! The homemade granola on top was also something to write home about because it was fresh, chewy and full of healthy flavor. Most places top your cold bowls with hard granola that makes you concerned you might break your teeth but not here. I also really enjoyed the fresh coffee. Curious I decided to turn and drive into the suburban street where there are 6 shops next to each other. Besides the butcher the bakery was the only shop open. Walking in the aroma of fresh baked bread and other goodies filled the air. A couple of shelves of bread and a table with various baked goods from muffins and croissants to Almond horseshoes and pastries. I love pretzels (and they make a couple of styles) and most of the ones I see at the mall are either hard and dried, out or greasy and buttery. These pretzels on the other hand were fresh and baked with just enough sea salt to give it a little bit of flavor. This also seems to be the local spot for coffee. In the back they sold a number of German goodies, which added to the authenticity of the place.

They had lamb on the spit, pizzas made with single origin wheat, Brasserie's famous single origin bread, and Australian wine, beer and cider. During the night they presented speeches telling us where the wheat comes from and why it tastes so good and why this bread is better for you than most! It comes from a single source grain that can be traced back to the farmer and the region where it was grown. Overall the night was amazing! The food was plentiful and flavorsome, the staff were kind and friendly, the bread truly was the hero of each dish. To top it off, there served an organic cordial served with real fruit (pear and blueberry was the favourite)! Tasty tasty tasty!

Brasserie Bread's superpower is owed to its single origin. The sourdough bread only requires three ingredients - Flour, water and salt. But any of these ingredients isn't good enough for the bread specialist. It needs to be the absolute best and they want to know exactly where it's grown to the very field. The source of this flour comes from Southern Flinders Ranges in South Australia. The bread was served up as sliders with Lamb and two kinds of different coleslaw. Both were equally delicious but credit to Brasserie Bread for making sure the Bread was the Batman of the mix, sorry Lamb your the Robin. The bread was like eating a cloud, so soft and sweet like a brioche bun. The bread was also served in cheese which was equally as scrumptious. The idea of serving cheese with honey never occurred to me. Killer combination that worked so well together. Brasserie Bread created a special pizza using only their single origin dough again. This was amazing and something I would definitely order as takeout if they considered it as an option as currently they don't do it. They kept the pizza basic with potato option as well as a cheesy one. Brasserie Bread also offer a wide range of drinks and cordials which were something different and special that would be nice for a picnic. The building is quite impressive and you can watch what happens from the very begging of the bread making process as its right here they make the bread and supply it to many cafes around NSW. The smells and sounds of a community that comes alive each Sunday. I admire those folk who shop rain hail or shine. I have seen them stream in, getting soaked but never ever ever passing up their weekly organic need. The stallholders remember each by name, and if you're lucky you may just get to meet a few new friends while you're there. The indoor market provides refuge from the heat and warmth in winter. A wholistic healing type vibe with Power of the Soul, hairdresser (who i can personally attests LISTENS to what you want and delivers exactly that), clothing, jewellery and the odd bargain or two to be had.

There are loads of organic products and fresh produce but there are also some really unique food stuffs that aren't common at other farmers markets around Sydney. In particular Kombucha, Green Drink from Peppercorn Creek Farm, Addiction Food (amazing gluten, egg, dairy free brownies), saffron pasta (the do squid ink and smoked salmon pasta too), Acai berry juice and haggis to name a few. The best coffee as a friend advised is from Afloat in the far south east corner. They use Bonsoi soy milk and Belgium chocolate. Delicious. Ask for extra hot if you like it hot otherwise it comes warm. Though I didn't try one the organic egg and honey cured bacon roll smelt pretty amazing. Other highlights are the Chinese massage (shoulder for $10), beeswax candles, the free range butcher (no preservatives in meat, whole ducks from $9.5/kg), the pastry stall (with an on site portable oven so they really are fresh!), plant based deodorant, gourmet gluten free pies, raw honey, sugar cane juice, real fruit icy poles, hemp skin care ranges, nurseries, orchids, quality cheap cook books from some of the best chefs in Oz. It's a good market. When you first walk through the gates the smell of freshly popped corn captures the senses. The site the markets are held at are ok. There is some green grass space and a few trees but it's really just a big car park with loads of stall in. For this reason I prefer wondering around the North Sydney Farmers Market but Frenchs Forest definitely has more variety.

Bondi has been screaming out for more supermarkets, and big, well-stocked, healthy ones at that. There's a ton of bars, and a ton of over-priced boutiques, but not really that many fresh food retailers. This joint will go off. They've got monster stacks of colourful fruit & vegetables, trays of exotic things with even more exotic names, a small goods and meat section, olives stuffed with anchovies, tabouli, pasta salads, fresh juices, vegetable chips, and tons and tons more. Oh and they were giving away tubs of free yoghurt near the cashiers the day I went. Free yoghurt! What fresh madness is this? I thought about taking two but the woman behind me had judgey eyes so I couldn't.
