This is HALF of a breakfast croissant with thick sliced bacon, arugula, avocado, and tomato.
    Curtis G.

I live in Shelby, but I have to talk myself out of driving the hour to get breakfast here every single day! Their baked goods are otherworldly, and the breakfast croissants are big enough that you can cut it in half and have the most awesome lunch, too! Don't judge this place by the exterior, that is, unless you're admiring the old world wood fired stone oven that is visible from the back parking lot. I wanted to buy at least one of everything in the display case--and that is only breakfast! Lunch would be amazing here, too--and you can even snag a good beer there! This is the sort of place that your super granola-hippie friend that has really good taste when it comes to food would frequent in their new Range Rover and probably spend half their trust fund on--and it would be worth it!

Great local bakery in Flat Rock Village

Absolutely delicious! Wonderful sandwiches, pizza, baked treats and coffee. Had house blend of drip coffee, a chocolate chip oatmeal cookie, raspberry cookie and a delightful chicken salad Sammie on homemade ciabatta. Everything was tasty and homemade. Friendly service and a cozy atmosphere!

Quaint bakery!! All fresh made items! Great outdoor seating area covered and uncovered. Friendly helpful staff. Pet friendly on the patio. Says roaming chickens but haven't seen them yet. I ordered a ham, egg and cheese sandwich with havarti cheese on sourdough bread, orange juice and a ham & cheese croissant to go. Ham & cheese croissant, soft, lite, butter and flaky!! My sandwich, well, let me just say I ate every bite!! Very family friendly!!

Nestled in the back of The Wrinkled Egg in the heart of Flat Rock, this tiny spot is a MAJOR influence. Delicious breads ( the Orange scones are sublime and disappear quickly), soups, salads, sandwiches and each is delicious. Order at the counter, find a seat and your order is ready pronto. Nothing fancy; simple and excellent offerings. And then when you've finished, stroll into the adjoining Wrinkled Egg to take a look at all the unique gift ideas!

I stopped for lunch at the Flat Rock Village Bakery before a show at the Playhouse. I scored parking behind the bakery and didn't need to go to the lot to the side of the bakery. They sell day old products at a discount and have a bakery case to catch your attention. The menu is on a chalk board behind the case. I had been planning on a sandwich but the wood fired pizzas seemed to be what was hyped up so I went with that. Drinks are bottled or canned but they did have some unsweet tea that was really good. The pizza was doughy and needed to be eaten with a fork and knife rather than picked up by the slice. I'm not sure if mine wasn't cooked properly or if it is always like that. I had enough after three slices. I should have gone with the sandwich. I liked some of the pastries I bought though. Service was friendly. There wasn't much seating inside so it felt a little cramped. You do bus your own table.

Peaches and cream Danish - the only thing I paused to take a picture of!

This was our last stop on vacation because we wanted to take a few pastries to go. We ordered breakfast and coffee, also. I had an Asiago pesto bagel with butter and a drip coffee. The coffee is great (counter culture), but they ran out of medium roast while we were there. The bagels were awesome! My husband had a bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich. Our to go items were a peaches and cream Danish (10/10, amazing and perfect), a cheddar and scallion scone (8.5/10 a very good, lots of scallions, balanced), and a chocolate croissant (also a 10/10). It's a very busy bakery, which is sometimes a bit overwhelming for me. It was definitely worth it for the yummy food, though. They have 50% off day old bread - we picked up a loaf of that mid-vacation to eat with leftovers. We appreciated the affordable baked goods and fast service.

You wouldn't have guessed it was a Monday morning by the substantial crowd at this bakery. It seemed the place to be in this town. They have a small interior and a multilevel deck outside. The fare includes baked goods and some fresh food to include pizza and salad. My salad was quite pleasant. I was glad for the option to order a half but it was still a decent size for the price and came with house croutons and vegetables that tasted fresh. My chai hit with a nice flavor, though it wore off a bit by the end. A lemon blueberry danish was apparently something you pick up at the register and is not sent to you like the other food if you dine in, but once I figured this out, I retrieved my danish. It was a robust flavor balance, though a little on the dry side and perhaps not the freshest item they had. They did have a vegan cookie and non-dairy milks for beverages; between the baked items and the salads you could do reasonably well. Still, there was plenty of quality here, and you'd be hard pressed to do better when looking for this sort of place.

Nice bakery in a friendly little town. I got the Turkey cranberry and a pecan tart. The pecan tart was slightly too sweet for my taste but still yummy. Turkey cran was delicious except for the spiciness of the mustard which I didn't think paired too well with the sandwich. Bread was baked very well though.

    Fresh pizza dining al fresco

Wow, amazing cafe in Flat Rock that was a perfect al fresco lunch stop during our adventures from Brevard, Sky Top Orchard , and nearby waterfall hiking. Fresh homemade bread, pizza, sandwiches, quiche, etc. Walk into the adorable shop, order at the counter, pay, find a table. Food is delivered to your table. Dog friendly patio, shaded under a huge tree. The veggie tarts, pizza, salad were all excellent. Genuine sourdough bread (no yeast) was brought home...literally back to Florida as a yummy souvenir! Open for lunch and parking is available behind the restaurant and shops.

Shout out to Mike's Pizza and Pasta- - 803 Spartanburg Hwy in Hendersonville, NC!…read more With all of the stress with the wildfries, smoke and Code Purple air quality.... pizza sounded like the perfect comfort food. So off we went to Mike's Pizza and Pasta for lunch on Thursday. We each had a small side salad to start. My Caesar salad was absolutely delicious! Loved their creamy dressing that was mixed in with crisp romaine, a nice amount of shaved Parmesan and crispy croutons. My husband, Terry Bozon enjoyed his side House Salad. Another thing also we liked is their salad bowls were served with a small plate underneath. Usually when you are trying to neatly mix dressing in, everything is falling everywhere and quite often a grape tomato notoriously escapes and bounces to the floor. We know what a mess that can be! Having that plate underneath helps and is a nice touch so thank you to Mikes for that! Now onto our amazing pizza! We ordered a 16" pizza so we can have leftovers. We asked if they could do an olive oil, garlic base instead of sauce. "Absolutely!" So our pizza with an olive oil- garlic base, half pepperoni and half mushroom was ordered! We're from upstate NY where they have really great pizza, so we are pizza-picky. When our pizza came out of Mike's kitchen our eyes widened! Wow! Very, very nice! Plus it was huge! We had to sit back and admire it. The pizza had generous amount of delicious pepperoni and mushrooms, placed on just right. A perfect thin layer of delicious melted, oooey- gooey cheese. No stinginess from the kitchen at Mike's Pizza at all, they are very generous. This pizza was amazing! The top was glistening with the right amount of oily goodness ...not too much, not too little...it was just right and is EXACTLY how we like our pizza! Their crust was perfect! Hand-tossed and nicely thin...they can go thinner if you want or they may even be able to go thicker. Ask Earl, who I will talk about in a minute. It had the perfect chew, tender, light and slightly crisp all in one pizza! SO incredibly flavorful, seasoned just right with just the perfect amount of ...EVERYTHING! A thin yet sturdy crust with super nice, slightly airy thin edges. The bottom was nicely crisp and browned just right. The pizza is foldable too if you are into that...me, I am a Miss Priss, so I use a knife and fork. Yasssss I know...sacrilege! My hubby just picks up a slice and eats it. We enjoyed our pizza so much that we asked our waitress to please tell the kitchen how delicious their pizza was and to give them a round of applause from us. We loved this delicious pizza that much! A nice man named Earl came out to talk to us. Earl knows pizza, has had the right training and he knows how makes it right. (In our conversation, he may have mentioned something about Italy too). He is true Pizza-Man! So hats off and Bravo to you Earl! (If you go there M-F, be sure to ask for Earl to make your pizza, otherwise he's at their Brevard Location. ) Our waitress was amazing too, super friendly and very attentive. Anyway, Mike's Pizza and Pasta is now one of our favorites! Thanks guys, we loved your food and the service. It takes a team to do it right so take a bow guy and gals! Excellent job! Our pizza and salads were outstanding!

I was excited to taste the food. The place was aged. The carpet all stained and the TV's on the wall had wires and boxes hanging from the back. We passed 5 tables all dirty. We sat at a booth the table was sticky and the booth springs you could feel as you sat. Spider webs at the windows inside. The waiter was pleasant and attentive. The wings were huge and meaty but the thick yellow fat was a turn off but understand it's a preference thing. The pizza sizes were strange 10", 16" & 18" wow! We are 2 people so we had to get the 16" and it was huge. If I had ordered a pizza to go I would have given 4.5 stars. However, the owner needs to spend a little money cleaning up the place. I walked to the back dining room. Before leaving and every table I touched was sticky. The kind of sticky that is the clear coat breaking down- they just needed to be redone. Very uncomfortable sitting there and eating. The bathroom smelled of urine from the outside so I didn't even touch the door. There were only 2 wait staff there as previously mentioned in other reviews not enough. There is a bar area but we didn't go. Not sure if we will return and we will not be recommending eating in but if you pick up a pizza it was pretty good.
