I did get the sense that they value putting a customer into the right car and will take the time to try and do so. I saw other Yelp reviews for Flatirons Imports under its other name Flatirons Subaru, and I'm not the only person who spent a lot of time with a salesperson test driving models and did not end up buying that time around. I think for the patience of the salespeople here, they may not always make a sale that day or that time, but they are earning long term customers who will come back next time and buy. AVOID. Service Manager: Ryan Nuckles Service Advisor/Service Person: Amanda This was the worst dealership service experience I have ever had. I came in with legitimate concerns about my vehicle and left feeling dismissed, disrespected, and talked down to. I have been going to this dealership for 5 years and will never return after this experience. A small fingertip-sized windshield chip expanded into a crack the size of my hand during the 4 hours my vehicle was in the shop. When I brought this up, Ryan responded, "Do you think we're just going around smashing people's windshields?" Instead of taking responsibility or having a professional conversation, I was told chips expand eventually and that it may have been from sitting in the sun. This windshield had survived years of weather and hail storms without this happening. I also came in specifically to discuss a previous AC recommendation. I was told my vehicle's age and a slightly low AC charge justified an $850 reseal and recharge. I was later told that 2-3 O-rings were leaking and that all 8 needed to be replaced, but no one could explain which O-rings were actually failing or answer my questions. An independent shop completely disagreed with these findings. The way I was treated was the most unacceptable part. I was repeatedly spoken to in a condescending manner, including being asked, "What should I do about it, Ella? What should I do?" and being told, "Well, you didn't pay for any of this." My concerns were dismissed instead of addressed, and I was made to feel like I was unreasonable for asking basic questions about my own vehicle. I also raised concerns about a recommended $1,250 oil-related service. The inspection video only described the area as "sweating," not an active leak, and I had an oil change just two weeks prior where no lower oil pan leak was identified. When I asked about the discrepancy between their findings and those of an independent shop with extensive experience, I was not given a clear technical explanation. Instead, I was met with dismissive responses, including comments questioning whether I was implying the Subaru technician was "wrong or making something up." After this experience, I will not be returning to this dealership. The way I was treated has completely destroyed my trust in this service department, and I cannot recommend this dealership or Subaru to my friends and family based on this experience. read more

After I escalated to senior management, Brian reviewed everything, acknowledged what went wrong, honored the original written quote, and addressed it internally. He handled it professionally and directly -- exactly how a good business should respond when something goes sideways. The timing didn't quite work out for us (we'd already purchased a different Subaru by the time things were resolved), but based on how Brian handled this, I'd give Flatirons a real shot for service or our next purchase. Scheduling an appointment for oil change and new tires was a waste of time and pointless. When I arrived for my appointment, the advisor checked I was in their system but didn't seem to look at any other information for my appointment. I had to re-iterate I scheduled an oil change and new tires (why couldn't he read this in the appointment I scheduled? why is this new information?). He checked the size of my tires and model but I already ordered them online, why would he need to do any of that? Maybe to confirm it's the right size? Apparently not, because they didn't have the tires I ordered in stock. Conveniently, the only tires they DID have in stock were $200+. The one brand that matched my car weren't even the same model as what I had originally ordered. I had to talk to a different advisor to ask why the quote that was emailed to me didn't match the one I was given. It was then I learned they have two inventories(?). One inventory for 'walk-ins' and another for 'online' orders. Well, they STILL didn't have what I ordered in stock. Why was I able to schedule an appointment if they weren't going to have the tires I ordered in stock? Why wasn't I notified that, 'hey, we can't actually provide this service today, do you want to reschedule?'. Took car immediately as I was the second car to arrive. I had an online coupon for a 69.95 oil change. I told service tech they didn't need to rotate tires as I had just done that at Les Schwab as part of tire purchase there. I had checked price for rotation at Subaru and remembered it to be around 30.00. I ended up paying 82.58 for oil change. When I viewed my complementary inspection, the tech was speaking so fast that parts sounded like a foreign language. After I arrived home, I checked my windshield washer fluid level and it was definitely not "topped off". For a quiet day, I got a rush job and felt ripped off. Be incredibly careful with this organization I signed a quote that they gave me that included work that they claimed is covered under warranty that had no additional terms and conditions. I approved $200 worth of work and when my partner went to pick it up they tried to charge her charge her 10 times the amount approved in the quote. Now I'm going to have to go to court to fight this. I'm fortunate enough to have a signed contract though. With the extra charges crossed out I'll update this to link a hosting to what they're doing. I was recently told my brakes needed attention and quoted an excessive price by flat iron Subaru I took the information seriously and had someone else look at the brakes who told me something quite different and that my brakes were fine at least until the end of the year "it's February now" If this was my only negative experience with flatirons Subaru, I might've let this pass, but it is not, previously I took my forester to flatirons knowing the catalytic converter was going bad by the way the car was acting and researching that 11 days later yes that's right 11 days it took them to diagnose this. They quoted me a grossly excessive price to fix this. (Keep the customer hanging until they're really desperate for their car ?)Knowing the real cost of a catalytic converter and installation I immediately picked the car up and took it elsewhere I have also purchased a new car from flatirons, and that will never happen again! two at this dealership made my day today! The first one, unfortunately, I did not get your name, I'm sorry, was so kind and helpful at the parts department. I had ordered a tiny part for my windshield visor and he treated me like a very important customer. It was the wrong part, but only because the part I needed did not exist lo! He explained that to me by showing me a diagram with all available parts and that I needed to get a whole instead of just a part. I then asked ifI could be helped by the service department because I had a pressure light come on. He kindly showed me where to go, and I was then greeted by another lovely human being named Matthew... I was already in the service line and after I told him that I simply needed my tire pressure adjusted, he calmly said yes, it's no problem, it may take a few minutes. He then proceeds to move some cars around ahead of me in order to get me close enough to the tire pressure inflator cable (?) ... there were other paying customers in line mind you, but he still proceeded as if my business was just as important as anyone else's... all I need was a tire pressure adjustment... after having inflated the tire, he then moved several cars behind me so I can get out the way I came, without going tthrough the service line!!! Matthew and the other gentleman in the parts department went above and beyond to help me with my little tiny problem that did not make the company any money that day but it made MY day! I've told several people about this experience, and while these types of kind actions are becoming more and more rare these days, I want to assure you that they are not forgotten but are making somebody's life better that day so thank you again for these two humble individuals and thank you to Subaru for hiring individuals like them! read more

I bought a new Crosstrek here and got good service. I worked with Shane Ferrin in sales and Justin Orellana in finance and both did a good job. I reached Shane initially through the Contact Us form; their concierge service called me back almost immediately and Shane called a few minutes later. (The Contact Us form is somewhat hidden, compare to the telephone numbers; scroll to the very bottom of the web page and click Contact.) I originally wanted to buy a used Crosstrek, but they are nearly as expensive as new ones so I went with a new one. There's a shortage of new cars (I think this is for all makes and models, not just Subaru Crosstrek), and Flatirons Subaru has been selling all their new Crosstreks even before they are delivered to the store. The bottom line is that they are not bargaining very much on these; I paid MSRP but they gave me two years of free oil changes and tire rotations, which I think is a reasonable deal. One of the cars that was in-transit had exactly the color and features I wanted, so I bought it sight unseen. The whole purchasing process went smoothly and I was not pressured (very much) by upselling. I paid cash and so did not go through the financing part. Shane alerted me when the car made some progress toward us (such as when it was on the train to Denver instead of the ship to the US), and once it arrived I was able to come in the next day and pick it up. Justin is very friendly and efficient, and I had a nice talk with him about their business and how things were going. From order to delivery took about five weeks. read more

Travus, Ian, and others at Flatirons Subaru was not pushy, they ensured we knew they were available when we needed to reach out for anything and gave us the attention, resources, and education for us to make our decision. I really wanted my first experience with Subaru to be a good one but would recommend that you avoid this dearship. Bought a certified 2020 last year in December 2022 and realized now that I might need gap insurance just in case anything happened that might cause it to be deemed totaled. I was offered an extended 3 year warranty and some additional window coverage which I thought would be a good investment. When wise options are offered to protect an expensive car or any purchase, it's always my policy to save the headache and purchasw those options to save over a bigger bill down the road. I even keep comprehensive insurance on a 2003 BMW I have that I love. Sadly, my sales rep did the shopping for me and did not verbally curate gap insurance to me for incorporation into the sales contract so for the next 8 months I'll risk owning the bank more than I paid. I spoke with the financing manager who told me to go purchase a separate insurance policy for gap, which my current provider doesn't offer. The finance manager conveyed this dealership could care less about cultivating good customer service results. Clearly, they want you to buy cars elsewhere. This my first time buying a financed car and a very disappointing experience. The rep that helped me seemed to be less tenured which may explain why gap insurance was not offered and explained but obviously this was a terrible experience. Subaru overall seems to have a great reputation and I will be sharing this with corporate but I would have liked to make this my go-to dealership and keep buying from them but given how I was treated by the finance manager and the fact that the rep didn't uncover and recommend all the right important solutions, I'll never be back and likely won't ever buy another car from this manufacturer. I had heard some good things about this location and its truly unfortunate that the management is non-customer centric because a good reputation in that respect can easily get wrecked with a handful of bad interactions which reflect carelessness and indifference for customers; like the one I had. read more

I took my 2014 cross trek to flatirons subaru in September 2023 for a subaru recommended 60k mile package. They charged me for an engine air filter and cabin air filter that they did not replace because I have K&N filters for both that I maintain. My invoice also mentions not replaced: 4wiper blades @$88.00 my car has 3. 2 main and 1 rear. I would not recommend this stealership for maintenance. read more

I confirmed that tires would be rotated and brake pads checked. I always check everything before I pay and tires had not been rotated. When called up to pay, I asked ​for confirmation AGAIN tires/brakes checked. I was reassured everything had been completed -- REALLY!!!?? I asked to speak to mgr-they did comp service but it wasn't about the $$ it's about principle!! I've been here twice now with very mixed results. The first time was better. This week I came in for an oil change and tire rotation. Took over an hour to get out the door. I booked an appointment online for their "express service", but it was anything but. The waiting area is nice and large and has two desks with outlets. Unfortunately none of the outlets had power. When you are waiting they text you and tell you to ask any questions through text. I did that. Left 40 minutes later never receiving a reply. When I came in I asked about the cost of getting the spark plugs changed. 45 minutes later I was chasing down the service rep to get an answer. He said he couldn't get a quote out of the parts department. Seriously? Subaru has maybe three different engines across its models and the service rep didn't know this cost by heart ? Or worse, didn't have a cheat sheet with the 20 basic services and costs printed out, and taped to his cubicle??? Sorry folks but that is unacceptable. Where is top management/ the owner??? Eventually the rep came back and quoted me over $400 to have four plugs installed. Wow. I cross-checked that price on the Internet and it was not competitive. Both this Subaru dealership and the one in Broomfield/Westminster have decimated my desire to buy a third Subaru. The car sells itself, but poor service drives customers elsewhere. The manufacturer must be asleep at the wheel too. read more

Buy your car here if you need to for Costco Fleet Pricing or whatever, but take your service needs up to Valley Subaru of Longmont. Flatirons Service department is kinda bad at ethics, transparency, communication, and at doing service on their cars. They had my car for more than a month (after 3 previous tries to fix the problem) and I really appreciated that they gave me a brand new Subaru to drive for the duration, but they were completely unable to diagnose the issue, and followed Subaru of America's lead in making obviously false, dishonest claims about the source of the problem. I spoke extensively with Ryan Nuckles in particular who was unwilling to disagree with Subaru of America under any circumstances. Separately, their pricing is very high compared to any neighborhood mechanic, they don't communicate very well while they have your car in for service, email communication is too hard for them to manage, their website is odd and broken, and they don't have good attention to detail. They're personable and kind, I guess, especially Jenn? In contrast Valley Subaru of Longmont fully diagnosed the problem correctly in one day, offered a permanent workaround so it would never bother me again, and apologized that it was only a workaround and not fully restoring the car to the condition in which it was sold. This place used to be the best, but since they've scaled up, general competency is lacking at best. People are nice enough, but if no one seems to be able to do the basics, including just checking me in once at the right desk or shuffling me from department to department, it does not inspire confidence. I brought my car in for my appointment, which I made on the phone, no record of it, but at least they were able to do the service, but not before identifying a $1100 fix because a single bearing isn't sold as a part so they have to replace the entire drive shaft on my car with 51k miles on it, not to mention my second dead battery while still partially covered leading me to believe maybe there's an underlying defect not detected. apparently this question is super dumb and no one could fathom such a possibility. I was told someone would call next day when the party came in. Two days later I called to follow up and made the appointment. Dropped it off this morning only to call just before close to check on the status since I was told to expect half a day. they hadn't even looked at it. I'm told first thing tomorrow, but so far, every expectation has evaporated into thin air. Seeking out a new mechanic for the other expensive fixes so at least I can have a little more faith in the work. I know nothing lasts forever, but it's a shame to see how far the competency has fallen off. I'd rather have realistic expectations set than be over promised and repeatedly fall short.
