We booked a Great Ocean Road tour and were so pleased with the tour and our fantastic guide, Eli, that we called the office at lunch time and booked a tour of Melbourne with Eli for the next day. The service from Sue in the office was excellent. She provided expert guidance in helping us select the proper tours given our limited time in Melbourne and made the logistics seamless. The Great Ocean Road tour is a once in a lifetime experience; really worth the long drive, which didn't seem so long with Eli's interesting conversation. Having driven much of the Pacific Coast Highway in California, we thought the Great Ocean Road might be redundant and almost didn't book it; so glad we did - fantastic sights and beautiful animals. The Melbourne tour was fascinating - Eli was especially helpful getting our two college age boys oriented to Melbourne's plentiful offerings. There are so many interesting alleys and hidden gems in Melbourne that we would not have found them without Eli's insider knowledge. Localing Tours is an excellent choice when visiting Melbourne. They really helped make our trip to Melbourne a memorable experience - highly recommended.

I guess Australians don't make as much use of Yelp as Americans do, so I get to be the first to…read morereview this walking tour on Yelp. I've not had the best experiences with these sorts of tours in the past, but this one knocked it out of the park. Lets start by saying that this tour is aimed towards a specific type of person, the type of person who loves chocolate. Of which I happen to be one, and so does the girlfriend. So whilst visiting Australia we decided to undertake the Melbourne's Chocolate Wonderland tour (weekend edition). We went to numerous establishments in Melbourne's CBD area: Cacao Lab (personal fave - try the Salted Caramel Drinking Chocolate), Alison Nelsons New York Chocolate Bar, Koko Black, Haigh's and Ganache. All excellent establishments in their own right. Come hungry and pack your sweet tooth because you will eat at least 10-13 pieces of chocolate and small baked goods (cake, brownies and similar). We also stopped at Kirks wine bar and had a nice glass of Shiraz and a dark truffle from Ganache in addition to the above. The tour was very good overall and started with some info on the chocolate making process and an introduction to Daintree Estates (an Aussie Cocao producer & Chocolatier - one of the better dark chocolate bars I've ever had) , went over the history on the various establishments and had a few of the managers/clerks stop by and chat for a bit providing similar tidbits of info. I would say that if you are looking to make the most of this sort of tour I'd say bring a significant other or friends, and if you are really trying to maximize you may want to consider doing the weekday tour since the businesses will be less busy/crowded. You could also tell the tour guide's were familiar with the process and establishments and generally enjoyed working with people, so kudos to them.

I strongly recommend this wine tour!…read more Our tour started from an agreed upon location within downtown Melbourne. Upon stepping into the van I immediately noticed how clean the interior of the van was. Our tour guide, Paul, gave us a verbal history of Melbourne and the surrounding area as we departed for the Yara Valley. From the history of the settlement to cultural significance of areas we drive through he proved to be a wealth of knowledge not only about wine, but also about the local area. We visited 5 amazing wineries in the Yara Valley, and we saw diversity among them. From established vineyards that date back to the English settlement of the area to modern craft style wineries and everything in between, it was clear this tour held nothing back. The Van had water on board so nobody went thirsty between vineyards. At the first vineyard some wine tasting etiquette was covered and everything learned was applied throughout the day which added significantly to the overall experience. the lunch was amazing and if the highest quality offered within the area, fine dining with a view was an understatement as we were breath-taken be the scene. Though you can visit theses Vineyards on your own, the knowledge and social nature Paul Brings we're enjoyed by all tour goers. Though we were strangers from different cultures we soon began to enjoy each others company, highlighting how our own experiences from home compared to each other made for lively and entertaining lunch conversation. Though these conversations felt natural they were coaxed to the surface by Paul and his social charm. On the drive home we were able to find Kangaroos in their natural habitat and got as close as 10 feet from them within the safety of our van, something that was not guaranteed and in many ways thanks to Pauls familiarity with the area. This tour was exceptional value for money and everything Paul brought to the table was enjoyed by all tour goers! I would strongly recommend this tour for both tourists and locals as it is a brilliant experience! If I could give this tour 6 stars I would, that's how awesome Paul and Vinetrekker were today! Thank you Paul and Vinetrekker wine and food tours for making my first wine tour unforgettable! You will make a wine expert of me yet!
