Calling all bikers - or anyone interested in just renting a bicycle for leisure while in Lanzarote - look no further than Fliston's Bikes. Their main premises are located just past the Casino in Puerto del Carmen, but on the opposite side of the road, right next door to the Santander Bank. They also have another place in Matagorda. We rented bikes from them in the past but as we now own a holiday home on this lovely Island, we purchased two second-hand bikes from Fliston's. As soon as you step into the shop you are greeted with a smile by Luigie or another member of staff. I cannot praise them enough for their helpfulness and excellent customer relations. We bought our bikes at a very reasonable price - both were ex-rentals and in amazing condition, but best of all, anytime we are passing Luigie is more than happy to pump the wheels free of charge and oblige with any other issues. We were provided with helmets free of charge and a basket for my bike at a very reasonable rate. Also, we have 12 months guarantee. For the real biking enthusiast, Fliston's provide a huge range of professional bicycles and parts. They have a free delivery and bike collection service as well as free assistance on the road should any problems arise while you cycle around the Island. Of course, they also rent a huge range of bikes a very reasonable rate, as well as Segways, Karts, electric bikes, and those big family type carts!
There is a most wonderful cycle path that goes all the way from Puerto del Carmen to Arrecife and, in fact, if your'e feeling energetic, you can continue on to Costa Teguise. Do stop off at the airport where you can do a bit of plane spotting and you will be rewarded with a 'deafeningly loud sound' and overwhelming view of flights coming in to land just a few meters above your head.
