Best Chowder Ever. So "clammy" , fresh and NOT PASTY THICK. Yes, everything is fried. But the batter is light, it is crisp, nothing feels heavy. The oysters were juicy and sweet. The fat belly clams were good. We ate sitting outside, and even though it is crowded. The turnover is fast, and it wasn't hard to get a table. We have visited several times and had the clams and chowder. These were very good until yesterday. The creamy clam chowder was just a brown liquid with a few potatoes, no clams. But, most disappointing was the woman who took our order. She was really crabby. We watched in line as she belittled customers. When it was our turn, she wouldn't let us order a to go order with our in restaurant order. We had to get back in line, which made us late for our appointment. We tried to explain, but she wouldn't listen. This place is understaffed. Perhaps this is why she is so crabby, to the point of meanness. As we were leaving, we heard one person, who was also appalled, speak of her offensive treatment of customers. So sad for a business that could be good. read more

The humble exterior of this gem completely hides the fresh and delicious seafood sold inside. If you miss authentic New England seafood and clam cakes (yes, I said clam cakes!) then Flo's is the place to go. The fried scallops, shrimp, and clam strips that we ordered from the al a carte menu were lightly battered and were the best tasting that I've had in SW Florida. Learning that fresh New England cold water seafood is delivered to Flo's three times a week made it easy to understand why it tasted so fresh and delicious. Besides the great food, the service that we received from Joellen and Yolanda made us feel right at home. I swear that if you are fortunate enough to enjoy Flo's great service and food, the only thing you will be missing is the sound of seagulls and the wafting salt air coming off of Narragansett Bay! read more

WOW. Recommended by friends and agreed to try for lunch. Best clams I have had in years and great Cole slaw. Small place maybe eight indoor tables but clean and nicely decorated. Somewhat pricey for a restaurant with no table service for ordering and table delivery but food makes up for it. Tip: on Friday fish and chips under $10. read more

My wife and I enjoyed our first dining experience at Flo's Clams! We ordered clams, fish, and a salad and the food was tasty and the portions more than adequate! Strike 2! First Visit they were unexpectedly shut down, Second Visit we ordered 2 orders of Fish & Chips and after we paid they told us they were out of Malt Vinegar. I have been to Flo's in RI and like it but this location needs to get thier act together. Go pick up malt vinegar at Publix or post a sign so customers know before ordering. I would of ordered something else. The Fish was great quality, nice and white....The batter was drenched in oil and tasted horrible, cole slaw dry and no taste....fries were good! Fantastic! Beautiful fresh fried clams and oysters. Just like you get in Rhode Island. I really liked it.

We had a lobster roll plate. It didn't even taste like lobster to us and was $34. The fish and chips was very good. I don't like restaraunts where you have to stand in line to order, pick up your order when you beeper buzzes, then throw your trash away ( paper plates and plastic forks) and they ask for a tip!! Not only was there not good service but there was no service at all. We can get good fish and chips elsewhere. read more

So excited when I read that Flo's was opening a spot in Naples. Was not disappointed with the experience. Holly was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We ordered the requisite clear chowder and clam cakes and it did not disappoint. The clam cakes were brown and not greasy and actually had clams in them. The chowder was chock full of clams and potatoes and lots of flavor. The ambiance is not as appealing as sitting across from first beach in Newport, but fact that you can get Rhode Island seafood in Florida is awesome. Prices and portions are very reasonable. The experience was a huge disappointment. The only positive was the employee that took our order. She was friendly and welcoming. The food was terrible. Growing up in New England, specifically Maine, we were excited based on Flo's advertising, to try the clam cakes and fried clams. The clam cakes were clam balls not cakes and were packed with a mushy tasteless filling. The clams were greasy, small and in pieces. As much as we were looking forward to this New England addition to Naples, we will not be back. read more

I ordered 2 Fish and chips at $17.95/each that were very good. I also ordered a SMALL alacart order of whole belly clams for a whopping $31. I had maybe 5 whole belly clams and the rest were strips. I think $31 for maybe 1 1/2 cups of clams was outrageous. On top of that there is a 3.5% service charge if you use a credit card. My family will NOT be dining there again. read more

While I live in Nashua NH now, I grew up in RI and my sister has a home in Newport. I visit her a few times every summer and Flo's at first beach is always part of my visits. Love Flo's but this location isn't quite up to the standard of their RI locations. But then again this is very new with new personnel so that to some degree can be a contributor for the slight downgrade. But I hope the owner understands that first impressions can be lasting impressions. I traveled there twice from our Fort Myers home, once with others from RI once with friends from the midwest. Those from the midwest were meh and probably won't be back. Their claim cakes are the best, nice and crispy and that alone made the 1 hour trip worth it, I bought an extra dozen to take home as we have an air fryer, I wouldn't recommend that to someone that doesn't own one. Of all of the RI venues that sell clam cakes these are the best, Only clam cakes I have ever had that rivaled the old Rocky Point recipe. They have a selection of draft beers and I wish there was an option to upgrade the clam cakes and Chowdah combo to the craft beer instead of Narragansett. They do not yet offer stuffed quahaugs which is a signature offering at the RI locations but I am told they will offer them in future, I agree with another poster that the chowdah is watery and perhaps offering a white version would draw in more customers. The service was excellent and the staff is very friendly and they must be something right because they were busy, Overall my wife and I enjoyed our visits and we wll be back but we will probably wait until they have fine tuned their operation. I ordered a 16 oz beer and they poured a 12 oz. I questioned it. She said it was 16 oz! I took the cup home and measured it. I was right. Also there was not much to offer a customer who doesn't eat fried food, except chowder or hamburger. (Shrimp scampi or clams linguini would be nice!) read more
