Fleurs De Villes Voyage is a 10 day cultural arts event that is launching at Bal Harbour Shops…read more Local florists have covered the malls mannequins in a stunning array of flowers. This years theme, Voyage was inspired by Baroness Karen Blixen whose memoir inspired the film Out of Africa. Some of the figures are historical while others are global. I especially liked Amelia Earhart located on the second floor. She took off on her final flight from Miami. Humphrey Bogart from Casablanca is holding court on the first floor in Rick's Cafe and a stunning Geisha and her Japanese cherry blossom tree are on the third floor celebrating the Cherry Blossom Festival in Kyota, Japan. Some of the entrances to the stores are wreathed in more flowers while there are even more surprises surrounding the mall. Before you leave you can vote for your favorite scene in the ACCESS Suite. Your vote will give you a chance to win a prize. During this Voyage the mall is hosting special events including an afternoon tea, craft Titanic-inspired botanical cocktails at the St. Regis Bar, special spa treatments at the The St. Regis Bal Harbour Spa, a special dining experience at the Artisan Beach House in The Ritz-Carlton Bal Harbour,a complimentary floral scented themed yoga class and a special floral aromatherapy session in the Exhale Spa, a children's floral art class, and a pop up floral market in the center courtyard. Check the Bal Harbour Shop's web site for more information. This was my first time visiting Bal Harbour Shops. This outdoor mall is beautiful and makes the perfect backdrop for all of the unique floral creations. Hurry over because you only have until March 12th before the bloom is off the rose and Voyage moves on to L.A., Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver, New York City, and Boston. ‍

I have to say, this is my favorite beer festival in S Florida…read more It's a smaller festival, with fewer than 100 beers to try, and they are all Floridian beer. Compare that to Grovetober Fest, Brew at the Zoo etc it's may not sound like a good value. But for me, that's already more than I can manage already (I know, I am a featherweight) so even if you boast 1,000 beers it just make picking and choosing harder. Here. I can try everything I want. The beauty of this beer fest is that it only features Floridian beer. Yup. DRINK LOCAL is the motto. Cigar City, Due South, Funky Buddha and Wynwood are the most famous in this neighborhood, but there are many other breweries as well homebrewers, that you may have met in local bars, or at Gramp's sud swap. As these microbreweries specialize in craft beer, and brew in small batches and are really the-sky-is-the-limit creative, chances are even if you've tried their beers before, it's likely you'll encounter something new and different. Something you can't get at Publix or World of Beer. Something fun. And funky. Yes, you are the privileged few who get to taste this beer at all! And you get to talk to the guys who brew the beer, not some part-timer or volunteer hired to do the tapping. They will talk about how they get the inspiration for the brew, how they may dream of opening a commercial brewery, and they want to know how you like the beer. How cool is that? Therefore, this is my favorite beer festival and I mark the date on my calendar months ahead so I won't miss it at all.

Buyer beware. We purchased our tickets over 6 months ago and once the vaccine mandates came down…read morethe line we called Groove Cruise immediately to see if this would be required. We were told "we don't know yet" by the company and it was suggested that we should buy trip insurance. Well guess what, it was too late to add insurance to our itinerary. 10 days before Christmas it was announced that vaccines are required and we had until Dec. 20th to change the names on the cabin if not vaxxed - AKA 10 days to sell a $3,500 cabin right in the peak of the holidays. The company is completely unwilling to work with us on a refund or credit. We now have to sue them. I understand that we are in a pandemic and this is an ever moving and changing situation. This is completely unethical.

So I actually won an oceanview room on the Groove Cruise from an Instagram contest. Music was playing from the moment you entered Celebrity's Terminal 25 at Port Everglades until disembarkment: 96 straight hours of non-stop house, techno & trance music and special sets, like classic house, disco, and bass. Each day there was a different costume theme for the day & night. People went all out on the costumes & it was awesome. It was a non-stop party full of good music and fun people. All ages (21+), races, and genders danced in peace & harmony for 4 days straight. Most importantly, if you have ever been to a music festival, you will be absolutely spoiled by having music, food, drinks, bed, shower, and toilet only minutes away 24 hours a day.

A carefully-crafted mosaic of information, evidence, and emotion. The remains of joy, which now serves as bleak evidence of the sharp contrast between revered values and the cruel sting of the reality of that day. We invite you to walk through the winding path from the depths of pain and loss to the threshold of action, the healing and the hope of the community. The events on that black Saturday will be presented as a shocking contrast between light and darkness, good and evil, that is relevant to the entire world. The installation creates a sacred space echoing the weight of the victims' and survivors' memories, surrounded by remains salvaged from the festival grounds--scorched cars, bullet-riddled bathroom stalls, and personal belongings all left behind. Visitors will be invited to join a plea for the safe return of the hostages who are still held in captivity by Hamas terrorists. Nova survivors of the brutal attack will be attending as witnesses to the tragedy they experienced on that day. Beyond the brutality and evil that occurred on October 7, the exhibition will capture the enduring spirit of the Tribe of Nova with the installation of the healing room. This sanctuary is intended for visitors to mend their spirits, reflect, and find solace after bearing witness to the harrowing events of The Nova Music Festival. Hanging tall and bright is the hopeful plea that "We will dance again". Everyone should definitely go- It is a must see - take your time going through it and think about everything.

Every April the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival, in cooperation with the Rhythm Foundation, bundles…read moretwo days of live World Music and drops it right on our doorstep. The weekend long all-ages concert has an ever changing line-up of performers that rock the North Beach Bandshell's house. This year they delivered a bevy of genre-bending opening bands and two headliners -- Wild Belle, is a dynamic duo that synthesizes the Black Keys' stylings with the roots reggae jams of the '70s. Elliot Bergman's dub-friendly beats encouraged his soothsaying sister, Natalie, to lull the crowd into a trance with her sultry voice and hypnotizing moves. With the support of a three-piece band they played a songbook that's not only concerned with unrequited love, but finally doing something about it. The furtive agent of independent hip-hop, Ana Tijoux, sprayed her politically charged lyrics over levels of Andean folk rhythms and European electronica beats. Her message of peaceful protest has become the anthem of activists everywhere, yet has paradoxically earned her mainstream success in Chile and the U.S. Endorsements from Latin Grammy committees, NPR nominators and Hollywood soundtrack supervisors has done little to muzzle this MC poised to rewrite the status of women in the urban musicscape. For the price of two movie tickets, you can invest in the Heineken TransAtlantic Festival's two-day pass and let the music in while not letting your funds run out.
