We went to Flores and Pine for a meal with another couple that I did not know very well. As a result I did not want to be "that guy" and raise an issue at the restaurant and even if we were on our own, I likely still don't raise the issue but just simply not return to the restaurant. We dine out a lot so this was not a case of not having comparables. Service was very pleasant and attentive. 3 out of 4 meals were fine. All salmon based dishes that were enjoyed. The fourth was the Alberta Lamb Top Sirloin. I wish I would have taken a picture of the meal. The price was $62 for the entree which I find is in line with mid to higher end restaurants in Calgary and expected. What was surprising was that the entree consisted of two pieces of lamb that each would be slightly above the size of a golf ball. I actually cut it into small pieces just so that it would last longer. There were a couple of slices of potatoes and a small amount of seasonal vegetables. In my head I was saying, "seriously" or "that's it". I would say that since Covid occurred, prices at restaurants have risen about 40% higher and given that we still dine out quite a bit, I have been accustomed to this new pricing but I simply would not return to Flores and Pine given the complete lack of value. It is a shame because the room and ambience was nice and this restaurant had been on our list to try since it has opened. I don't believe I have ever written a review of a restaurant and I have certainly have had worse meals at a restaurant but these were likely at a pub or chain restaurant where I have few expectations. Disappointing. The appetizers arrived before the wine was even opened. The fries were luke warm and only 2 slices of bread for 3 people. My guests order sirloin and bison. They were very pleased with their meals. I ordered the Icelandic Fish which was cod. Very small piece on a bed of Luke warm shredded fennel and onion. 2 patties of something that had been grilled but were cold. The plate was also cold so everything was a disappointment. The dessert was a small tablespoon of fresh fruit on the whipped egg white wasn't even close to a serving. At $18, it was not value for money. The wines were good, but we were refilling our own glasses, which was poor service for a meal at a rop restaurant. When one pays $500 for a meal for 3 people, one expects top line. I have been here for lunch a few times and it is somewhat hit or miss. I recommend going early. The 1 PM experience was somewhat disappointing. For an expensive buffet brunch, $65 per person, a considerable experience should come with it not just good food. I think that should include service that is warm and professional, providing information and recommendations about the buffet items. The buffet items should be replenished. read more

This trendy restaurant is located along the highway. We decided to stop here for dinner after a long day at Banff and it was so worth it. The interior is very upscale and everyone was dressed to the T. Our service was great. Our server was very apologetic for the delay due to the backup in the kitchen but overall made it a great experience. We tried some cocktails and they were all perfectly created. The duck drummettes were very flavorful and so crispy. The duck meat was not too dry for it being such a lean leg. The main dish of the show was the Tomahawk Grazing Board ($350CAD Not a very cheap item but a fun experience). The steak was cooked medium rare which was hard for me to eat. I really wished they would have asked us if we wanted it cooked more because I was disgusted after awhile from eating it at that cook. The sides of the board was great. The vegetables were all a good compliment to the meat. Overall this is a great place to go for a celebration or a special event. Not really affordable for a normal dinner. read more

Flores and Pine! Flores and Pine did not come to disappoint. If you are looking for a high-end restaurant to go to in Canada. ! Look no further Flores and pine has got it in the hat. First, I want to say to our amazing server, Jessica you are a saint and a sweetheart and thank you for making my last day in Canada so welcoming I cannot wait to come back and visit. I really don't know where to start. The beautiful decor in this restaurant made me feel that I was on top of the world. The service was top-tier. The food was even better and I could not think of a better place to end my vacation. I ordered the tomahawk dinner for two and it was worth every single penny. The whipped mashed potatoes tasted like butter. They were so smooth you wouldn't be able to believe it was actually mashed potatoes. The french fries and the mac & cheese was just literal melt worthy in your mouth. The only way you would know is if you have to try it it's just fantastic. and of course the steak itself was and flavorful and to add the mushrooms on the side was really good. You were able to taste all the ingredients and all the dishes that were served that night, and the wine was out of this world. I also just adored how this place was able to fit us in last minute for a dinner reservation and accommodated to our needs and that was really special. One of my hobbies is trying to think of reasons for throwing a party here. F & P is by far one of the MOST beautiful event spaces in our city. I can't even decide which of the many spaces is the most amazing. The "outside" room was a life-saver when it was smoky this summer. The screens kept the smoke out but it still felt totally like being outside. The food is soooo good! Sunday prime rib nights with Yorkshire pudding are great and the dinner special including chicken is a good option for those with kiddo's. I love that you can order for pick-up or delivery too. I'm still trying to figure out what precisely is in the brussels sprouts. The burrata and bread are crave-worthy. Ironically, it was a picture of the honey cake that first drew me out to Bearspaw to visit. Ironic because I didn't love the cake at all. I think deserts are the one weakness of the restaurant. What I have sampled so far, hasn't been up to the impeccably high quality of the food, beverages, ambiance and service. However, the first courses are so delicious I usually don't even care if I have desert so I'm not taking away any stars. read more

I recently had my engagement dinner here and it was really great. The service was excellent! Our server brought us some special extras to celebrate our engagement and went above and beyond to make sure we felt special. She also made some great recommendations on menu options. We ended up getting the Tomahawk Steak board and everything was extremely delicious. Others in our party had the chicken and duck and both were really great tasting as well. The restaurant is private, intimate, and tastefully decorated. There is a giant screened-in patio and a couple of wood-burning fireplaces. I would definitely recommend for special occasions. We live in Tuscany so we decided to give it a try. Beautiful large, and open dinning room. Although it was full, you didn't feel crowded in. Menu had a great selection of fire grilled items, pasta, and seafood. I had the soup (which could have been warmer but is my only criticism), and then the scallop main which was amazing. I cleaned my plate, and was tempted to lick it. My husband had the strip loin and it was one of the best steaks I've ever tried. They do a great char grill that you can taste. Presentation was lovely too. Desert was yum. Overall highly recommended, and so nice not to have to go into downtown to have a delicious meal! Next we are going to try their brunch! read more

First experience at Flores and Pine, highly recommended to us. Celebrated our 10th anniversary. Our server (Mathew) made it very special, including a card from the restaurant. It's a beautiful restaurant, no doubt, but the food was just not up to our expectations. Out of my party of four, no one was happy with their meal and it was either bland, raw, or dry. Love the space, but the food was not at all worth it. Also, the wait staff was aggressively attentive to the point of feeling discomfort. It was appreciated, but it felt a bit targeted being the only coloured people in the restaurant. What an amazing dining experience. Went for a special occasion (my birthday) and they helped make it extra special. Our wonderful server Cass was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Very professional and she obviously takes pride in their work. The ambiance is lovely and love the decor in this restaurant. The food was amazing, had the short rib with mashed potatoes (so good). My husband had the strip-loin steak (made perfect) and we shared an appetizer as well. Food was so yummy. Last night we attended the opening of Flores and Pines, what an opening it was! The transformation from the Bear's Den to this is just incredible. What was a dark dining experience is now vibrant, open, and unique. The staff are outstanding, friendly, and inviting. The owner stopped by as did the Director of Operations, and the Bar Manager. We sat at the Chef's Bar because we love to interact with the staff. We got to hear their stories and why they chose Flores and Pines. It is clear the owner and leadership team are building a strong culture. To describe this place simply would be to say it is a gathering place for all. Whatever you are looking for from fine dining to just stopping in for a drink, this is the place and they will make you feel right at home. The charcuterie is incredible and great value, the servings are perfect and presented with exceptional care. The wine list is not extensive and that is a good thing. Great value in the wines available, we had a beautiful California Cab sav for 40 bucks. I love experiences and last night was one of the best. Can't wait to enjoy the beautiful patio. Wouldn't be surprised if this place becomes Calgary's next hot spot. The team is off to a great start. read more

As a previous patron to the bears den I was disappointed to hear of them closing. But Honestly Flores & Pine has to be the best restaurant I've ever been to. I came tonight for my 22nd birthday dinner and from the service to the food it was fantastic. Had the poutine to start and the fries were cooked perfectly and did not get soggy. For the meal I had the ribeye with beets and goat cheese on the side. The steak was juicy and and cooked perfectly as well. Roasted tomatoes were sweet and paired perfectly with bitterness of the arugula. For desert I had a 99 latte which was worth the $9 price tag and had beautiful flavour. Easily nicest one I've had since traveling in New Zealand. Then had the caramel marshmallow desert (unfortunately forgot the name) was very delicious. In house made marshmallow just lightly toasted was fluffy and light and the rest of the desert was creamy and equally light. As far as customer service, Danica was our waitress and she was incredibly polite and lovely to talk to. She could answer any questions about food or drinks without thinking. Always had a smile on and could tell she really enjoyed her job. Honestly well done Flores & Pine. Staff are awesome, food is great, atmosphere is comfortable. If you're looking for a casual-upscale, kid-friendly restaurant, I went to the brand new Flores & Pine restaurant in Bearspaw last night. It is stunning, the service was phenomenal, and the food was amazing. My hubby and I are foodies, so we appreciate a nice meal, and this place did not disappoint. It's huge too, so they can accommodate big groups, and they have a private room with bridal suite (so cute). Prices range from about $20-$50 for an entree, depending on what you order, so it's quite reasonable, especially considering the atmosphere, level of service, and quality of food. The best part is that they welcome kids, which I find the opposite of most higher end restaurants. The kids menu has a few pasta's, pizza's, and even a rotisserie chicken and tenderloin option. Worst over the phone customer service I have experienced in a long time. With recent world events I thought we would support a locally owned restaurant for our anniversary. We made a reservation 2 weeks ago, called 4 days before to confirm with them that if the weather turned we would be able to sit inside. I was told yes that wouldn't be an issue at all. Get a call two hours before our reservation to tell us that we will have to stay on the patio though there is a rain storm because they can't now accommodate us indoors. Super annoyed as it's our anniversary and we were excited to try it out, arranged to have the kids looked after so we could celebrate just the two of us. The girl I talked to on the phone got the Manager Dennis on the phone to see if he could help or accommodate us. First thing he asked is what day did you call and ask, I explained I wasn't sure, I said maybe Tuesday and he said oh well we aren't open on Tuesdays. Oh sorry my mistake Wednesday then, he proceed to talk over me and say he couldn't do anything. I was basically out of luck either I'm on the patio with a bit of coverage from the weather or maybe he can get us into the lounge but it would be loud because of their prearranged event. He kept talking over me, I asked him to let me talk and that if he could stop talking over me and he says "oh my dear I'm not talking over you"as he continued to talk over me. I'm annoyed with their customer service as he could have chosen to be kinder and more understanding that we are disappointed about this arrangement now, a bit of kindness goes along way with people. Even just an apology would have been great, trying to book us in for another evening. I cancelled the reservation even though I know he wasn't upset about it.
