This is a little out of the way for us, but my husband won tickets so we decided it was worth the…read moredrive. We went early, and had no problem with parking. They had different lots set up with free trolleys which ended up being very quick and easy. When we got there, I was struck by the size. I really didn't expect it to be as large as it was. They had a kids area, arts and crafts, musical entertainment, and of course seafood. Fried clams, fish and chips, ceviche, seared tuna, grilled mahi mahi, oysters, calmari, you name it. The only thing I didn't like was that you had to buy tickets. Most items ranged from four to seven tickets, including alcohol. The portion sizes on most items were pretty good. If you simply went to sample everything, you would paying a lot, though. I kind of wish they would offer a smallish sample sized portions for less tickets. For non seafood people, they had hamburger and hot dog options, as well as the regular fair food like funnel cakes and ice cream. It started to become pretty crowded as we were leaving, so I would suggest to go early. We had a great time, and it was definitely worth driving out of our way for.

This is a large arts and crafts fair being held at the Indian River County Fairgrounds January…read more15-16, Sat 10 am to 5 pm and Sun 10 am to 4 pm. The event is outside underneath cover. Admission and parking are both free. Dogs are welcome and the event is wheelchair accessible. The expo features 150 vendors selling food, wood, glass, plants, pottery, art, jewelry, accessories, clothing, and home goods. There were a variety of interesting and affordable things to look at. My favorites were the licorice and fudge, local honey, fruit salsa, sea glass wind chimes, and the copper bird baths. I love anything tropical themed with mermaids and flamingoes. In addition to the shopping there was also several food trucks, adult beverages, and live music. Next door to the Craft Expo, the Home Show was held in the David W. Fleetwood Exposition Center. It was also free admission. Parking was easy and plentiful and the weather was beautiful. Both events are going on tomorrow so come out and enjoy.

Festival season is in full swing in Florida and this past weekend was the 23rd year of the annual…read morecraft festival in Stuart which is held over two days from 10 AM until 5 PM in historic downtown Stuart. The street is shut down so crafters and artists can sell their wares. Admission to the festival is free. There were many tents selling clothes, jewelry, art, ceramics, food, plants, accessories, and so much more. You can also shop and dine at all of the businesses lining the street and there was live music by the water. Parking was free and a breeze and Kiwanis Park. There are also many other free lots in the downtown area. Stuart is one of my favorite cities because it is so quaint and picturesque. They were the perfect hosts for a such a family friendly festival.

Downtown Stuart is a fun area for walking, listening to music, window shopping and dining. So many…read morehistoric buildings and beautiful walks along the St. Lucie River. We were able to park in the municipal lot so that worked for us. Some of these stores produce their merchandise by residents and the restaurants also supply farms with fishing local in order to maintain the freshness in the food that they offer. This is a busy downtown and their is live entertainment all year at the Lyric Theatre, the waterfront Riverwalk Stage. Arts and crafts festivals and special events all year long. While we were here, we listened to live music, looked at crafts at a festival and admired the very interesting buildings all about town. I was glad I walked around here!

This is my favorite place on the Treasure Coast…read more UNBELIEVABLE live Jazz. World class Jazz musicians at a great venue-The Black Box next door to the Sunrise Theatre in downtown Fort Pierce. There is a small admission charge and all proceeds go to scholarship funds for young musicians. They have a cash bar. If you are a jazz fan, do yourself a favor and go here. Probably one of the smallest festivals I have ever been to however they did have all the key…read moreelements. Held at a great location this small festival is held durring the spear fishing tournament for Lionfish at the end of the day, divers bring in their catch to weigh. Lionfish are an invasive species and this is a tournament to help control the population to give native species a better chance of survival. While waiting for the fisherman there is live music, a small booth selling lionfish tacos etc. An educational booth where you can learn about the lionfish and why it is important to remove them and a few other vendors. It is all held at the Ft Pierce Marina which has a few restaurants and a gift shop. We arrived about noon to try and beat the rain but walked though the festival in about 10 minutes. We sat and listened to music for a few minutes which was the best part of the festival. Next time we will wait to go until closer to the end of the day to watch the fisherman bring in their catch. There is not enough to do to make it an all day affair.

SCW and I have lived in the area for quite some time and decided to check out the 2018 Pineapple…read morefestival. It was free this year so we decided why not. It's located in Downtown Jensen Beach and they close of the main street, and one street over so vendors can set up shop along main street, and the rides and stages etc are one block over. We walked down mainstreet and perused the vendors which were selling a wide range of interesting art, some clothing, jewelry, and some food as well. The carnivalish street has lots of activities for kids, and some more food and drink options as well. The stage is set up in a parking lot with some seats and room to dance. I thought it was well laid out and looked fun. I wasn't particularly wowed by Pineapple festival, but we don't have kids and besides the restaurants that we know and enjoy on the perimeter there isn't much for us after wandering the vendor lined main street. However we'll most likely be back next year to support the community.

In fact there was only one vendor there selling pineapple slush things and that was it! There was live entertainment which was great and several carnival rides. There was a great variety of fair food, however I was expecting pineapple flavored things and fresh pineapples for sale and that was not the case. Hopefully next year. The festival wasn't very large, we basically walked around the block. We went on few admission day and it was nice weather therefore we enjoyed the short walk but I would have been upset if I had paid to get in. Parking is awful.... there isn't any.
