Home furnishings like bed covers and curtains inspired by the sea. What I really loved was the furniture carrying the same theme forward. There was a centre table with a glass top. Underneath the glass top there was a little showcase where I could see the sand, starfish and other coral. Breathtaking is the word that came to my mind instantly. There is so much creativity in the shop. wind chimes made of sea shells ,lights made in the shape of starfish , a coral display box and numerous other things. A good shop with excellent customer service too. What's more they constantly have new things added to the lot.

When I put the plants in to be clipped, the owner said he'd re-use 1 pot, so I'd only need to purchase 1 pot for the other plant which had grown. I asked what the price would be for the additional pot, plus the trimming, to be told $30-$40 total. On collecting the plants a week later the price was suddenly $70!!!! I questioned this to be told that was the price now! I'll be going elsewhere or doing them myself in the future, because this is just far too expensive. A new bonsai every year would be cheaper!

You have to walk about 10 minutes from the station but there are signs everywhere. Arrived a bit past 9:30 and there were still plenty flowers left. It was even better, because this was when the sellers wanted to go home so they really lower the price. It was down to $10 for 10 bunches of roses. There were mums, lilies, peonies (a bit pricier than roses but not by much). I was in flower heaven. Can't wait to come back on another Saturday to have another go at bouquet making.

The market is located at Flemington, very close to Sydney's Olympic Park. It is the main wholesale market for all florists to shop. It is also open to the public and anyone can buy small quantities too. I usually like to visit the place around closing time which is morning 11 am, yes, AM.. It is only open from morning 5 - 11 am. At that time, most florists are willing to sell a small bunch of flowers and cater to individuals too. My favourite gerbera's are $6 for a dozen! They are the freshest you can ever buy and for the price, it's fantastic. I try to buy new flowers every week for my home.

They didn't have a big variety of flowers, but they were able to work with what was in stock. The lady was very friendly and helpful and the flowers were fresh. They're a little more expensive than some of the other locations locally, but are open on Sundays (also for deliveries 7 days a week)which helps sometimes. They are convenient to the Gordon train station and I think they are under new management, but I haven't back in a couple months.

I tend to have a Medusa-type effect on the humble plant, striking them dead with a glance and without even trying, I swear. My mother tells me gardening comes with age. I'd better get a move on. My experience at this casual garden centre has been in buying plants for other people, and the staff has proved friendly and knowledgable. The space is clear and well sign-posted, enough for me not to mistake a native for an indoor plant, Diggers heirloom tomatoes for edging. I think I should spend more time here, perhaps something'll rub off.
