Went in for 5 bouquets of flowers. The staff didn't have enough flowers for five - which was fine. They offered to make a bouquet with what they had left which was mostly filler pieces and not full stems... for $55. Both staff and the manager were dismissive and had an attitude as if they could do with or without any new customers. As a small business owner myself, I like to shop with other local shops for the personal touch. From the moment I walked in the door (to a very small shop) I was met with a silent and cold welcome. I needed to send a congratulations bouquet from California to a recent high-school graduate friend competing in a National Horse Show at the Will Rogers Equestrian Center. I reached Tarah at Flowers to Go who was enthusiastic about taking my order and she guided me to the store's website where I could shop for the vase. She agreed to accept the details of the order including the writing on the card by email and took my credit card over the phone. Today, I got a text report from the young lady's Mom (Horse Shows are a whole-family affair) and she said that arrangement was complete with a Red, White, and Blue Cowboy Boot vase, local Texas flowers including a yellow rose, and a suitable Congratulations balloon for an 18-year-old. I went in looking for a small bouquet of roses and they had a few mixed flower arrangements - about 5 give or take from $50-$60 dollars including a vase (i assume) as it had a note card of the price on the bouquet. i only needed a half dozen bouquet of roses (the local 7/11's didn't have any). Surely the staff was kind and they arranged a bouquet of 6 red roses (that have already began wilting) & when i checked out the total was $59 - wrapped in regular brown paper. No vase. I didn't question it, paid. Trying to support small business. Definitely over priced and not worth it in my opinion now looking back. I would have preferred a quote prior to them cutting the roses but since they didn't give me my total until check out i let it slide. Or maybe even fresher roses. A dozen, i could understand... half a dozen- for close to sixty bucks- not so much. I understand business is business but as a business owner myself, I don't believe in taking advantage of customers especially first timers if you want returning customers and referrals. Next time i will be going to Kroger and getting a similar bouquet for $8.99 and possibly better quality. read more
