This company is a total scam an impossible to cancel. Why? Because despite following their instructions they willfully choose to ignore requests mailed to their office. Below is my last message to them: Stop contacting us and close our account. We have requested closure, in writing, to your office multiple times. Three letters have been sent to your office at Fluent Home Cancellation Department, 2578 West 600 North Ste 100, Lindon, UT 84042. Multiple emails have been sent. You are now STILL trying to collect on a debt that should not be attributed to us. You can clearly see from your logs that we have discussed this multiple times and should be able to see that your equipment has been disconnected with no service for at least 2 years. This is ridiculous. We are filing a grievance with the BBB as it is absolutely clear that you are willfully ignoring correspondence being mailed to your office. Further communication should be sent to us via USPS to our address on file. Do not contact us via email or phone as this an invalid debt. Cancel our account and cancel any 'past due' invoices. We continued to pay you despite our cancelation requests until you shifted your payments to a 3rd party company. In fact, we've overpaid you since our first request for cancellation sent by mail in 2021, 2022, and lastly in April 2023. DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!! If you are looking to send in the letter of cancellation don't use the address that they provide on their official website. It is not correct. Received a certified letter I spent 10.98 to send back because the they provided the incorrect address. How convenient..... Overcharged and failed to repay. They have literally told me the cheques in the mail multiple times. Have made several attempts to contact and given the run around. Have made several requests to cancel service as we are in a month to month contract to no avail. Feeling as if we are being held hostage. In response to your question about how we can remedy this situation, I have a few suggestions. You could have someone from the resolution centre return our phone call. We've been waiting over a week for a return phone call. You could also update your ridiculous and archaic policies regarding cancellation of your month to month contracts. Another suggestion would be to accept other forms of payment as I don't trust your company with my credit card number any longer. You will store my card information and continue to charge me a service I do not want when you owe me money for being over charged then threaten to take me to collections. Not sure how to resolve the issue when the company won't return phone calls.... It is October 19th and we are still held in a month to month contract for a home we sold 60 days ago. I have contacted Fluent approx 7 times and have been told every time that my file has been escalated to a manager but I am still waiting for a phone call.... Literally the longest 3-5 business days of my life. I have repeatedly asked to speak to the resolution centre but it seems as though their system is set up to keep you from gaining a resolution. This company is a fraud and a scam, they come door to door and strong arm people into quick sign up before they can think about it and then get at least some part of the product "installed" (which means putting sticky taped sensors on your doors) before they leave so you can no longer back out of the 90 day regret period Canada has in place. Also, during the sign up the seller tells you it's a three year contract but when you go to cancel the contract after the three years, you are told you actually signed a five year agreement and they prey on the idea that most people lose paper work in that frame of time. I have been with Fluent for over 5 years now and for those 5 years I told my friends and family they were an excellent company. Recently I tried to cancel because we haven't used it in so long, and it has been a long running joke for 6 weeks. First to get though as an existing customer takes hours, then after speaking with someone for a half hour of repeating no thanks I want to cancel, she then says ok you will get a call back from another dept in 4 days to cancel. I didn't get that call for 3 weeks. He gave me an address to send a letter of cancellation with a signature, and it had to be sent snail mail. I have been billed twice since I started the process. there was also an incident a few years back that I needed help logging back into the app and the customer service rep logged me into someone else's cameras, and it took me days to get through to fix that. read more

Called to cancel service due to moving out of state; was informed contract auto renewed for 5 more years. Was not mentioned when we signed up, even though sales guy was told we were moving in 2022. Main reason we signed up was doorbell camera which worked for less than 2 years, even though we bought a 2nd wifi extender. Plans are expensive. Not happy campers at all. read more

They don't even cover as we're paying $60 a month for nothing!!! They said they'd send out a technician, for a charge, or free if we sign for 3 more years. What a joke. Very disappointed! Stuck out our contract even though we knew we were paying twice other service providers were offering the same service for. Fluent sales agent lied to us and made us sign a false 5-year contract; we were promised in writing a free equipment upgrade or a lower monthly plan. Fluent asks for a 4 year contract renewal for equipment upgrade at-cost or a slightly lower monthly plan. We're promised a free move and now they are asking a fee. Fluent customer service and Retention department are terrible (the Retention agent hung-up our call) and their call-back is 1-3 days. I do not recommend Fluent. If Fluent wants to keep customers, honouring their promised and reducing plans at the 4th year could retain customers who would at least consider continuing the service. We are not happy and suggest NEVER signing up for any services offered by Fluent. The retention guy even hung up on us. read more

This goes beyond bad service and into abuse. My mother is elderly, an Alzheimer's patient, and moved into a seniors' home. when we tried to cancel her account, we spent 55 minutes on hold before the call was answered by an agent who opened angry and condescending. He said it didn't matter what my mother's health was like, he would only talk to her and refused to let me coach her memory in the background even though he KNEW she had Alzheimers. After finally telling us how to cancel (you send an image of a signed letter stating your name, address, specifically stating you are giving them 30 days notice of cancelation and emailing it to support@fluenthome.com -- NOT to support@myfluenthome.com) he said the email address only one time before hanging up while I was actually speaking the words, "Excuse me, can we confirm that address." I was shocked and disappointed that anyone would ever treat my mother that way, especially now that she is sick and meek and scared. Incredibly shoddy installation. The technicians were here until 10 pm on a Saturday and were supposed to return to finish. That never happened. We set up at least 3 appointments and no one ever showed up. Now they're telling us that we need to pay a service fee for someone to come out! Ihave asked that they come pick up their equipment, and we have even offered to return it to them. This has been going on for a year now. A gentleman by the name of Alexander Dalrymple came to my door. He had noticed the Vivint security sticker on my door. He told me that he was with Fluent, but that "Fluent is the Canadian branch of Vivint"; that they are "the same company". He started asking about how things were going, saying that they like to check in with their customers. He said that they were offering their "existing customers a $300 annual rate reduction and throwing in a free video door bell" and that we could "keep all the same equipment, they just had to swap out our main alarm panel". Vivint Canada and Fluent are competitors..NOT THE SAME COMPANY. The fact that this individual was pretending to be with Vivint and acted as though we were his existing customers is disgusting and pathetic. This is fraudulent and illegal business practice. I get that it's a Canadian company, but I'll keep supporting international companies if this is how this company operates. read more

Multiple instances of the alarm going off without receiving a call from the monitoring station. One time we had to phone them because the alarm would not turn off, they had no idea. Kept saying they would send out a worker who either never showed, or was always delayed. Tried to cancel, put on hold twice for over 20 minutes before the line went dead. Phoned again, hold for 20 mins, told "retention" would call me back...no call. Phoned a third time, hold for 20 mins, told they were "working on it". Asked to speak with a manager, put on mute for upwards of 10 minutes while they "tried to find a manager", then put on hold for another 10 minutes to hear that the manager wouldn't be able to help me. read more

I had been a loyal customer for 5 years. I had already had my alarm system so they just had to program it to their system. In April a sensor went out and I called them to replace it. They wanted to bill me for a sensor. Since it was never there equipment I thought they would be will to replace the sensor for free. They said they couldn't. I even asked if they were willing to loose a loyal customer of 5 years over a sensor and he replied there was nothing else he could do. So come the end of June I called back to cancel my account which was up in August. I asked the representative if I needed to write a letter or do anything else. He first offered to send me a new sensor for free. I declined. It wasn't possible in June but it's possible now. He got an attitude and told me I didn't need to do anything and hung up the phone. Today 9/7/2023 I noticed that they took out a payment for this account. I went through my bank account and they had taken out a payment for August as well. I call the customer service support number and explain to him what happened and he asked who I talked with. I couldn't give him a name. He told me I had to write a letter in order to cancel the account. Well I was told I didn't have to. I then asked for his name twice and he finally said Pablo. So Pablo goes on to try to keep me with them by asking to send me a sensor and lower my bill. Even asked if I knew of anyone who would be interested in signing up. I wouldn't refer ANYONE to this company. I declined and I also told him I wasn't authorizing to have any payments deducted from my bank account. He said I will be billed another month because I haven't put in a 30 day notice. I said I'll talk to my bank and he told me they will send it to collections. Do what you want to do. The sales rep that showed up was not wearing a mask. He then asked if I had noticed an increase in people trying doorknobs of homes personally or in the area. I said no. He said he was surprised. I read the news, I think I'd know. He also looked around 18-20 years old and was acting extremely nervous (he could barely form a sentence). Long story short I said I wouldn't be purchasing anything without my partner present. He then asked a series of uncomfortable questions like, When will he be home? I said I was uncomfortable telling him when he works and I would not be answering that question. I originally signed with reliance in 2013, then upgraded to cameras with fluent in June of 2017, never recieved cameras I tried to cancel my contract today since my 60 months is up. The representative informed me that since my original contract was over in 2018 that the new contract signed in 2017 wasn't started until the first one ended, so I was obligated until 2023...I paid the new price immediately though. There own contract states that it is for 60 months and that the new signed contract supersedes any other oral or written contract previously. He told me if I stop payments they would just send me to collections. They are a very crooked company. read more

Fraudulent theives! It is a scam. I originally signed a contract with them once my contract was up I tried to phone and cancel they told me I could phone back the following month to cancel so I waited the month without question and phoned them back the following month and they told me this again I was very surprised. So I checked my contract and it had been up for quite some time. When I called them back again I was told this again when I explained to the women would have been happening she said nothing and transferred me I waited on hold for a very long time. I requested my services to be cancelled and was told to send in a written request I faxed in the request to the number the gentleman gave me and received a fax confirmation for it. The following month I received another bill. I called in again waited on hold for hours finally spoke to someone and she said they did not receive the cancellation and to email it in. I then emailed the cancellation with the fax originally sent and the confirmation and received confirmation from them they had received it. The following month I received another bill once I called they said they did not have it uploaded to their system yet and it could take some time for this to happen they created a dispute and put me in queue for the next available person to deal with the matter. I did receive an email a couple weeks later stating they did find my cancellation request however my account was not cancelled they continue to Bill me every month I have phoned and sent numerous emails and it's still not cancelled I have now gone to Better Business Bureau as this company is fraudulent and cannot be trusted. I was without service that whole time. They also lock you in to a 5 year contract with absurd cancellation fee.
