And Frankfurt Airport (FRA) is simply one of best airport in the world. Check in was quick and easy and I loved the concierge work my gate since my princess was knocked out. Great selection of food and duty free shopping and I love the cleanliness of the restrooms. I also love the location of this airport to rental cars, hotels, restaurants and train stations. We flew Lufthansa back to the states which is of course one of the best airlines. We will always fly into Frankfurt when I come to visit my family.

Update - August 2026: Still One of the Worst Airports I've Experienced…read more Unfortunately, Frankfurt Airport still ranks as one of the worst major international airports I've traveled through. We still had to take a bus from the plane to the terminal, followed by a considerable amount of walking and stair climbing. I personally don't mind the walking, but if you're older, have mobility issues, or have a tight connection, this airport can be a real problem. Passport control continues to be dysfunctional. There were only two or three police officers checking passports, while EU passport holders were given priority. The automated passport kiosks also seem rather pointless when you still have to present your passport to a police officer afterward. To make matters worse, the officers' computer systems appeared painfully slow, making an already inefficient process even slower. I've always thought of Germany as a country known for efficiency. Frankfurt Airport certainly challenges that perception. Then came baggage claim. We waited more than an hour for our bags to finally appear--and this was after our flight had already arrived late. For one of Europe's largest and most important international hubs, the overall passenger experience at Frankfurt Airport remains remarkably inefficient and frustrating. After multiple experiences here, I continue to avoid connecting through Frankfurt whenever I have a reasonable alternative.

The entire experience embodies the epitome of German luxury, efficiency, and accuracy. When my taxi pulled into the private driveway, I was immediately greeted by a staff member (who had "PhD" on her nametag!) who walked me inside and through security. Let me tell you, the security process was the smoothest I'd ever gone through! Then it was a quick ride up an elevator into the sprawling main lounge area. From left to right, there was a spacious business center, lounging area, full bar, restaurant, cigar/smoker's lounge, sleeping rooms, bath suites, and restrooms. I understand the bar has one of the greatest whiskey collections on the planet, though I went for a nice Cuba Libre to go with my stogies after breakfast. Breakfast was a combination of buffet and kitchen-prepared meals. I ordered an Eggs Benedict and helped myself to the nice selection of buffet items. Delish on all counts! When it was time to go, I found my guide who then took me downstairs to the immigration desk and a VERY nice Porsche SUV where the driver took me through the labyrinth of roads under the airport terminal and to my flight. He even escorted me right to the plane's door! I will never forget this experience, and I sure hope to be able to do it again.

It is an airport BUT not what I thought…read more I am beyond excited that I did NOT get here much earlier than I needed to!! I am in Terminal B and besides the vending machine there is nothing to eat. So thankful we had a big meal in Frankfurt before the bus ride over. The Duty Free drinks are the same price as the vending machine with the exception of a savings of .50 for a bottle of water. There are no water fountains to fill your drinks. Security was quick. They do make you take everything out of your cosmetic bags and put in a baggie they provided. Since the waiting area is just a large warehouse type room it is loud with everyone chatting and phones being played without headphones. The overhead lights are harsh so no napping. The airport is a distance from Frankfurt so be prepared. The Flibco bus is your best option but it is about 2 hours. The ladies room was clean and the toilets are free. All airport staff that I encountered were friendly. The plastic seats are comfortable to sit in (luckily since I just learned we have a 45 minute delay).

They fail to realize that without passengers, they wouldn't have a job -- and given the airport's location in the middle of nowhere, job opportunities aren't exactly abundant. The most aggressive, rude, and arrogant staff are at the check-in counters, with only a few exceptions of people who haven't forgotten how to be decent human beings. Some of the newly hired young women behave as if they bought the airport last week -- they speak disrespectfully to passengers and show zero understanding or flexibility when any minor issue arises. Security staff move so slowly you can't tell whether they're even awake. I recently witnessed a situation where the boarding agents were laughing and chatting with operations staff while the plane hadn't even landed yet -- and they still refused boarding to a passenger who was just one minute late after the gate closed. Ironically, the delay was caused by the same slow-moving security team. Very few security lines are open, even though passengers are forced to arrive three hours early. Everything is closed, and the queues are endless. Avoid this airport at any cost. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone -- unless it's absolutely your last and only option.
