Shotgun shells - after we had two of them
    Holly T.

Had dinner here tonight to celebrate Valentines Day. Saw reviews and wondered if a steak house so close to home could compete and I'm here to say it does! And then some! We had a reservation and we're sat within minutes. The decor inside is so unique and the views of the pasture was beautiful. Our server was very informative and attentive and took great care of us. We started off with the shotgun shells which were very good. Ranch was homemade and only con was the bacon wasn't as cooked as i prefer inside of it. I ordered the salad with salmon and the salad and lemon vinaigrette alone were so good. Adding the salmon which was cooked to my specification of medium well just made it that much better. I wanted to try the corn so i ordered or as a side. My husband ordered the chicken fried steaks and said it was the best he had ever had. I csn say with complete confidence the best thing on his plate for me was the mashed potatoes. Like wow - i can't even adequately describe it. We had to have dessert because it was all so good we knew that would be the perfect ending. We got the banana pudding and it did not disappoint. Worth saying- saw hats inside and saw that was a no no at some point. Either that was misstated or they updated the policy. It's also open carry which in Texas is always welcome. We will be back- very soon!

16 oz ribeye with twice baked potato

We went back for our second time last night and let me say, what a great experience. Started with the queso, some bread and salad, and then had the 16 oz ribeye with the twice baked potato and brussels. Everything was so good! The vibe of the restaurant is just fabulous and the best part was our server, Teresa. She remembered us by name!!! We were absolutely floored. She is so sweet and you can tell she really cares about what she does. Definitely recommend!!!

Do not underestimate this little spot out in the country! Beautiful inside and out. We made reservations online for an early Friday night dinner to avoid the crowds while still enjoy a great meal. We had okra appetizer which came with an addictive chipotle ranch aïoli. They were so good -like okra French fries :) He had the chicken fried steak and when I tell you it was bigger than his head I am not exaggerating! Wildy huge. Came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I had the shrimp and grits which were completely decadent. If someone knows how many calories are in that plate, please please please don't ever tell me! Haha! We will be back soon to try the other menu options because they are varied plus we need to try a steak of course!

Welcome to the 'NO' abode. I had dinner there for the first time tonight and the place was adorable, the food was delicious, however a bit overpriced. The first impression at the door is a bit off putting. I was there for a lovely meal and I was immediate hit with a bunch of no's at the door. It did not feel great as a start to a $200 evening. The ambiance of the place is country sheik. It's unclear to me why such a strict dress code is necessary. Overall a good experience and it could be more welcoming to start.

This place is awesome. My husband and I stumbled across it whilst out on a motorcycle ride. We looked it up and thought we have to come back it sounds cool and it was! It's out on a working ranch and the views are beautiful, very serene. We sat and had a drink at the bar whilst we waited for our table I had the Bonnie and Clyde spicy margarita very good. Our servers both bar and table were very funny and personable, there's not that many tables and it is ranch style decor but tasteful, I loved that cozy vibe. Now the food we of course tried the shotgun shells recommend by the server and the okra both really good. For main I had the burgundy tenderloin medium/rare it was cooked perfectly so tender and full of flavour I didn't even use the sauce. My husband loved he's shrimp and grits too. We split the crème brûlée for dessert, delicious and we saw someone get the banana pudding that looked great. We sat by the window and the sun went down it was so lovely. I will be coming back with guests and would recommend to anyone.

My mom really enjoys this place and suggested we go since I was visiting. The southern/country vibe isn't for me, but I can appreciate a farm-to-table concept. The servers were all very kind and all courses came out as they should. The okra pods tasted like burnt okra chips. The charcuterie board is.. well a charcuterie board. I don't think you can mess these up but it didn't really stand out for $18. They ask if you want to add a salad to your steak and my brother didn't end up wanting it, so I tried it with a vinaigrette. I think they forgot to shake up the dressing because it was just an oily salad that I ended up putting chipotle ranch from the okra app on. HOWEVER, the cuts of steaks were amazing. They were so tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. My only gripe is that they just weren't very seasoned. Things didn't seem to have a lot of seasoning here. And the mashed potatoes were over whipped. I don't know. Something was off with the texture that wasn't sitting right with me. My mom's husband paid so I wasn't one to complain. Overall I think if you live near this place then it's a good "nice" steakhouse option so you don't have to drive to Dallas or Fort Worth. I'll go back if my mom invites me again, otherwise I'm just staying in Dallas.

Sign at the Door ,LOL,REALLY we went here a few days ago, laughed at the sign, really a joke, am Native Texan, been to many, upscale restaurants,& NEVER HAD THIS KIND OF AN UNWELCOMING FEELING. WE WAITED FOR A BIT, WASN'T VERY BUSY SEATED AND THEN THAT'S WHERE EVERYTHING FELL THROUGH AND Got Worse,GOT UP AND WALKED OUT I have had much better meals at Texas Roadhouse,Hard 8 BBQ,Logan's, and especially Cattlemen's Steakhouse in the stockyards and ESPECIALLY, The Big Texan Steakhouse in Amarillo,Texas WHERE I HAVE NEVER HAD A BAD MEAL or Time at, and has always been very friendly setting and is A TRUE TEXAS Hospitality. have been upscale restaurants in New York & down to Los Angeles. Coast 2 Coast I read the short biography of the owner & short history from 2013 & was NOT impressed,I actually laughed. This is why my poor review,go back and read all the reviews and make a judgment for yourself. Wish you lots of luck, try it your own risk,Have a great day & God bless.

What a gem! Beautiful view, food was great, and the service was fantastic. My husband had the chopped steak, whipped potatoes and green beans. I had the fired tenderloin, polenta and green beans. Both were really really good. We also tried the fried okra pods (must have those). This place is definitely a five star restaurant.

This was our first time dining in at Fly By Night. We loved the whole experience. The decor was true to the name. Cow hides and funky animal decor all throughout. We started off with margaritas which I thought were just ok. I am picky about my margaritas though, I really dislike the taste of mixer. For appetizers we had the crispy okra pods. The okra was a tad overdone but the aioli was so good. The entrees were amazing! The chicken fried with green hatch chili gravy. We asked for extra gravy because it was that good. I had the salmon with crab on top. The brussel sprouts come with bacon so I had to ask for it without, as I do not eat bacon. The chef made an exception and I really appreciated that. We of course tried their banana pudding and it did not disappoint! We will definitely be back

What a unique, one of a kind restaurant! It's very country, casual, and located down a county road. You feel like you're at someone's house, a step back in time. Strands of lights that hang over the outdoor area give off a sense of twinkle touch. One drawback is there isn't a kids menu, however the establishment is very kid & family friendly. We ordered Queso Blanco, a margarita, a Bloody Mary, the grilled ribeye with mashed potatoes and green beans, the Burgundy Tenderloin with mashed potatoes and asparagus, and creme brule. The Bloody Mary here is GIGANTIC! Both of our meals tasted delicious and our steaks were both correctly cooked as requested. Presentation is lovely and simple on square white plates. The queso and margaritas we so-so, nothing fancy. The potatoes were too salty for me, and I wished they offered a baked potato option. The creme brule wasn't the smoothest, but was still tasty and I was glad to have dessert options available. It should be noted the side salad is an eclectic mix of dried cranberries, pecans, and queso fresco over a bed of mixed greens. For such a straight forward "meat and potatoes" type of steakhouse, I was expecting a more traditional rendition. I was caught off guard when a basic mix of iceberg, tomato, shredded carrot, and croutons wasn't set down in front of me. I'm not sure how I feel about the salad, but wish there was a more familiar and standard side salad option. This restaurant is such a cool spot because there's no other restaurant like it! It's worth the small drive from Fort Worth, for sure. I don't know how the restaurant got its name. I asked, but our waitress (Teresa) was brand new and couldn't tell us how. I think she meant to ask someone who would know, but it must have slipped her mind. No big deal as she was so attentive and sweet. I'll request to sit in her section when I return.

This is a wonderful place with fine-dining food, but a much more casual atmosphere. I would recommend for any occasion.

oh-emm-gee.. this wasn't just bad.. this was like, "we're going to talk about this for years to…read morecome"-awful.. my wife's food was unidentifiable as being the dish she ordered, the owner or manager or whatever came over to argue with her about it when she sent it back. Then he told us it was the waitress's fault. My meal was only just terrible, but i could identify kind of what it was supposed to be, and i could clearly recognize the french fries. A couple at another table had chicken and waffles with way undercooked chicken.. Too bad, i wanted to like this place. I really like old school mom & pop diners a lot more than just another chain, and this place has the vibe i was after. I just should have brought food from somewhere else.

I rolled into Cotton Patch in Cleburne last Saturday for a long-overdue lunch…read morewith my cousin, and let me tell you--it was exactly what a comfort food pilgrimage should be. This meal was so good, I barely remembered to take a picture before devouring half of it. (The photo evidence will either prove my lack of social media skills or just how ridiculously good this food was. Let's go with the second one.) Now, let's talk about this feast: Chicken Fried Steak--crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and smothered in a rich, creamy gravy that could make even the most devoted vegetarian rethink their life choices. Creamy Mashed Potatoes--also generously blanketed in that same glorious gravy, because if you're going to do comfort food, do it right. Green Beans--but not just any green beans, the homemade kind with little bits of bacon that make you feel like someone's grandma made them with love. Dinner Rolls--fluffy, buttery, and downright dangerous. You tell yourself you'll eat one, but then another one magically disappears, and you're left wondering what happened. To top it off, the service was A++. Our waitress was on it--attentive but not hovering, friendly but not fake, and she made sure we had everything we needed while my cousin and I caught up on years of life. And the timing? Perfect. The place was just busy enough to have a good vibe but not so packed that we had to shout across the table. Final verdict: Highly recommend. If you find yourself in Cleburne, go. If you don't find yourself in Cleburne, maybe you should. And yes, I'll be back--probably still forgetting to take a picture until it's too late.
