This location remains one of the nicer stations that Flying J has. The restrooms were very clean and there was adequate soap, paper towels and sanitizer. The self service food items are closed down. They are doing very well to help curb the virus. read more

Wow. Just wow. My family and I have been coming to this gas station for years, but I never went inside. I always just paid for my gas at the pump then I would leave. They have some of the cheapest gas around Birmingham so if I'm in this area, I almost always fill up here. Last week, I wanted a drink so I decided to go inside. This gas station is huge! It's like a truck stop gas station with showers and everything. There was also a station with fried chicken and other hot food. In the drink section, you will find every drink you can ever imagine and more! I got a Snapple in the Mango Madness flavor. So good! Fruity, but not too sweet! It was perfect for me. There were several cashiers working the register. The one I got was super friendly and seemed happy to be working there! Might as well. You get to work in by far the nicest gas station around Birmingham. read more

The toilets three of them blocked and out of commission. At least they should've been. They were filthy and unusable. We've been to flying Jay's all over the country and this was by far not recommend it not clean and they didn't really seem to care. I did report it as it was posted to do so. We didn't try the food but Denny's that was attached to. It had a lot of cars in the parking lot. Like I said service wise, they didn't seem to really care. read more

Business is bad I saw a employee stick her entire face into two other women's bums as if she was sniffing them . Her name was Joyce other two were Brianna and Wanda. Wanda normally would use another name tag to not be caught or properly reported. They curse at customers act alley and have nasty attitudes. Showers are disgusting black dirt stains in them all. Food was decent but only when certain people are there a young man helped me out way back in January with a salad best salad I've ever had me and my wife even tipped him afterwards. The women though have nasty attitudes. Same guy was pushing food out and one of the girls over in the cinnamon area threatened him with a gun! Yes a gun!! Watched the events unfold he was pissed off sadly I think they fired him...which is honestly weird seeing that cashiers curse out customers and do inappropriate things in front of customers. And they still are employed. Save yourself the trouble. read more

Not really feeling this truck stop. It was super messy with unpacked boxes everywhere. The staff was very unprofessional and with the exception of the girl with the locs and shaved sides with a design, everyone else seemed to have an attitude. The shower water was hot and strong but the bathroom itself wasn't the cleanest. There was hair on the toilet seat and the back of the commode definitely had not been wiped down. The girl at the Cinnabon stand was definitely having a bad day. I'll try to find an alternate stop next time I'm in this area. read more

Stopped at this Flying J on 2/5/17 to fill the car with gas and to use the restroom. This is a very busy travel plaza that is located just north of Birmingham. Exiting the parking lot is very challenging because of the heavy traffic. They need a red light to allow customers to exit more safely. read more

I have been here many times and the price is consistently competitive if not the lowest in town. The parking lot is wide enough to keep the wait at a minimal amount when you are in a hurry. There is a truckers lounge and showers on property and a Denny's in the same building. Since this is a truck stop as well it can get pretty busy inside, but the truck traffic is in a separate parking lot. My biggest and only complaint is the parking lot for the trucks flows out into a busy portion of the street and the trucks ALWAYS block traffic coming from I-65. I would love to see something be done to minimize the trucks blocking on coming traffic such as make them turn right out of the parking lot and not give them an option to turn left or put a light at that the exit or the trucking lot. This issue is only going to get worse and could easily cause a serious wreck. read more

I would like to preface this review by saying that I don't make eating food from gas stations a habit . . . but the bean burritos from this Flying J are amazing (hence my 5 stars). I know what you're thinking - 'Gas station burritos?!? Groooosssss!', but seriously, don't knock it till you try it! They're not too messy to eat in the car (leave it in the little plastic bag to avoid bottoming out) and I'm pretty sure they're fried in oil from heaven. Next time you're headed north out of town and need to fill up on decently priced gas, hit up this Flying J (just before Gardendale) and get a bean burrito. As far as other gas station type amenities go, they're spot on. It's clean, there are plenty of pumps (although it's a fairly busy place), bathrooms are better than the typical, staff is friendly etc. (Stop judging me and try the freaking burritos!) read more

It's a gas station for truckers & traveler's people on the go! I past by here probably a few time's out of the depending on my route & work schedule for the day..... Nothing fancy gas station food ranging from pizza, soups, sandwiches, meat & three plates. Good process food for on the go & in the truck! read more

Just off I-65 at exit 264, Flying J has gas, diesel, an attached Denny's restaurant, extensive C-store, and some truck stop amenities (showers and such). A lot of people use this exit leaving downtown after work, and there are several lights between the exit ramps and Flying J, so it may take some patience to get there. Things are fairly clean, but there's that unmistakable dinginess present that most gas stations and truck stops seem to inevitably get over time. Pump prices are generally the lowest or one of the lowest in this stretch of interstate. read more

Great place to stop while traveling. Great convenient store. Also Subway is located inside. Always well lit and clean. Restrooms are big and clean. Lots of parking. Lots of gas pumps. The flow of traffic is a little strange, but it stays a busy place. read more

Truck stop/gas station that it at a convenient location just off the interstate. They have always had clean bathrooms when I stop there. Their food has always been fresh and tasty also. This is a great place to stop if you will be traveling through the Birmingham area. read more

Passed up several other fueling stations to come here based on the great reviews. The gas pumps were extremely slow. The restrooms on one side of the store were closed, no worries there is another set of restrooms on the other side of the building. Both of the toilets in the second restroom had overflowed and flooded the bathroom. It didn't look like a recent occurrence. read more

It's a Truckstop and NOT the Ritz! Anyone complaining about some trash on bathroom floors or in the lot really need to know that many of these truckers are total filth bags and as an OTR driver myself , I can tell you that there is NO way to even attempt to keep up with these animals! Be glad you don't have to park in the Truck lot and breathe the bladder juice fumes all around from the many animals who love pouring out their pee bottles onto the lot, and you will always be stepping on mounds of trash and beer cans that they just toss out their windows. This is NOT ALL us drivers, but sadly many of these so called "Professional Drivers" live like this :( so again, this is mostly for Truckers and the Travelers who need to Shower while parked in the fuel island and unload their garbage onto the lot and drug addicts to beg for dope money and not totally the staffs fault that it looks like a Demilitarized Zone! read more

Great place to stop for gas. They have a large number or pumps with gas and diesel. Not to mention they usually have one of the cheapest prices per gallon around. Plus it's clean and the people have always been friendly. read more

facility was great " but " why are the truckers allowed to park their tractors in the rv spots ?!?!?! they not only park in the spots but they almost fill all of them resulting with rv's being turned away all afternoon and evening !!!!! this is very inconsiderate of the truckers but more so of flying j to allow it !!!!! as a frequent traveler and rv'er this flying j in birmingham is the worst one on the east coast to stop at !!!! maybe flying j has to make up it's mind if they want rv'ers or not !!!!!!!! very sincerely, and very disappointed rv'er lawrence jones read more

I stopped here for gas and snacks. The interior is decent enough to be a truck stop directly off the interstate. HOWEVER, their premium gasoline has my 2005 BMW sputtering to the point that it cuts off WHILE in motion. Maybe snacks and a restroom break, but I will not get gas here again. read more
