Best PINA COLADA in key west!!! $10 for the refillable souvenir coozie mug with, totally worth it when it's 90+ degree out there! $7 to refill thereafter! Pina colada 3 days in a row for me (2-3 refills/day!), have tried others but nothing catches my tongue :) You can actually taste the coconut bits and most importantly it's very frozen considered it's super hot out! Much like NOLA, it seems like one has to have some sort of frozen, slushy alcoholic drink when in Key West, and The Flying Monkey serves such a purpose. I ordered the Miami Vice, pina colada w/ strawberry daiquiri, and it was ok. The good news is that there was definitely alcohol in it, which is not always a given considering that many establishments skimp on the alcohol when they serve slushies. That was definitely not the case here, as there was perhaps too much alcohol in the drink. But I'd rather have too much than too little, especially given the prices. The best part of The Flying Monkey however, is the people watching. It's located right in the heart of all the action in Key West and is a great spot to watch all the craziness that is taking place around you. The reason for the 3 stars is partially due to the fact that frozen alcoholic slushies aren't my thing, and more importantly, the drink I had wasn't that great. But if you are into frozen slushies, and you want to people watch on Duval -- this is a good spot to check-out. read more

Yes! Finally found a good restaurant in this over priced island. I ordered the cuban pork sandwich and was blown away. It was loaded with with pork. Priced to sell!! The other really fun part to this restaurant is there large frozen drink menu. It reminds me of a 7-11adult version of the slurpee. But more than fake flavors. They actual put real fruit and ingredients. The staff were super nice and brought plenty of tasters. Def a must stop for your trip. Alexander was our waiter. Very bad hostess - there're tables available at the garden and she made us to sit at the higher table with wobbly chairs. After we noticed there are some lower/normal tables available and pointed out to her, she said she can't move us because we need to sit at the section where the same waitress is serving. I did not think I would find a place with better daiquiris than Fat Tuesday. I was wrong. The Flying Monkey has some awesome tasting daiquiris with a more "natural" flavor. It was pretty packed when we came but it was super easy to order a drink. I didn't spend much time here but I did get two daiquiris, so there's that. read more

I only had drinks at the bar, so I cannot attest to the restaurant - but the Allaire drinks at the bar are amazing. I tried a Banana Breeze (vodka, vanilla ice cream, bananas) & it was surprisingly really good. I also tried The Flying Monkey (mix of howler & ruby roo). It was very very good as well. The ruby roo is a nice rasberry fruity drink. If you like rasberry, you'll love it. The Howler isn't my favorite, but it's not bad. Good, fun atmosphere. Great bar tenders. read more

We really enjoyed our lunch and the staff at this place! Food was good, prices reasonable for "resort town" and the staff went the extra-mile. All of the food we saw being served looked great. My friend had the oriental chicken salad, which was huge, and beautifully presented. Hubby had the club sandwich, which was one if the better he says he has ever had. I had the Quesada, which was tasty, and modified as ordered. Our drinks were refilled promptly and my friend enjoyed the Crazy Lady draft from the local brewery. I would highly recommend. read more

If you love to people watch this is the place for you! They have bar seating right on Duval Street, across from Garden of Eden. We stopped several times to drink slushies and watch the free entertainment that Duval Street offers. They offer a wide variety of adult slushies but my favorite was the Banana Breeze. If you are in the area for a while the refillable coozie mug is the way to go. It's $10 to purchase then $7 for each refill! Grab a slushie then walk Duval - you won't be disappointed! read more

Well, my drink tasted like burning alcohol so if you like that flavor then the answer to this question is yes. The Flying Monkey is my favorite spot in Key West for fruity drinks. It is located outside and attached to Fogarty's. There are several daiquiri machines lining the walls. My favorite is the banana flavored one but they all look pretty tasty. The price isn't too bad and you can choose to drink your daiquiri there or wander down Duval with it. If you want to get food poisoning this is your place. I had the shrimp po boy and spent the next 12 hours in the bathroom spraying from both ends. I will say the drinks and service are pretty good which is why I gave it two stars. Honestly I don't know how you can mess up a fried shrimp po boy in Florida. The shrimp must have been old or kept out. I expect that from some place in Iowa but in FL come on. Safe to say you won't see me patronizing this place in the future. It's difficult for me not to rate this place 5 stars but I don't want my love to key west and duval st in general to influence my rating. This is usually the first place we get a drink when we get into town and the last one before we call it hits on our last night. My 2 favorites would be the White Russian and grain train. Considering the number of places to get a drink on Duvall, this joint stands out, selling dozens of daquiried drinks. Last time I saw this many daquiri machines was at the daquiri factory in Austin Texas. I had the Grape Ape and the Flying Monkey, and both were excellent. You could taste the alcohol, unlike many of the daquiris and margaritas that you can buy in south Florida. Prices are a little high ($7), but considering the location and quality of drink, it's still a deal. read more

This is my favorite hangout bar in Key West! The Dirty Monkey is the best drink in my opinion. It is a banana and chocolate frozen drink. I call it an adult milk shake. Daiquiri's anyone...they have a wall of machines to mix to your liking...Its not a huge bar but the bartenders are fast and the drinks are good. Another Duval St. classic! But as all frozen Key West concoctions they are pricy...buy the refillable cups and the refills are cheaper. read more

Like most other reviewers, I agree that this place is good to just chill, people watch, and drink. Frozen drinks were good, but not strong so I suggest the extra shot. I would assume this place is better for lunch since the food is ok. We got the blackened shrimp wrap, definitely get the dressing on the side. Just too much when added already. Staff friendly and food came out quickly. Three stars based on comfort (sat on uncomfortable high top bar stools) and food. read more
