They were very professional and prompt in their service. After the service, I enjoyed many an hour cycling around Leicester and environs. The bike now resides happily in the USA. Although I sort out minor, planned repairs myself, there are times when things are beyond me. City Cycles to the rescue ! Excellent repair work. Prompt and not expensive. The staff are real cycling people and know exactly how to fix your bike. When you get to their counter, there is a good chance that the person who comes to serve you will have their hands covered in grease/oil/muck etc, and that's because they are working on the bikes just round the side. Parking is easy on the forecourt or the two adjoining roads. The parts aren't cheap, usually list price, but you can't beat the service.
Although we have used this company (in all three locations) for over 12 years my recent experience…read moreof buying a faulty item and being refused a refund (despite the item being returned in less than 24 hours) has caused me to write reviews as people should be aware that this company is actually breaking the law by only issuing refunds once the item has been returned to the manufacturer. They could clearly see the fault on the item I brought but all they wanted to do was to bodge a repair, now to be that is totally unsatisfactory on an item costing in excess of £100 that if defective could actually cause thousands of pounds worth of damage to bikes and cars.

Terrible experience not worth the money, definitely something I regret doing is spending money in that shop. One of the best bikes shop in Coventry in my opinion…read more I myself can buy bikes and parts much cheaper but this as a shop is in my opionion the best in the city. Shop is stocked full of the best bikes around for very good prices as well as there always being many deals on. My advice is to try and wheel and deal a bit. im almost certain you will get the best deal around. Parking around the store is always tricky so that will be something to consider if you decide to make a trip there. Store is just about big enough, wouldn't be good if it was really busy mind

It cost £9 to fit a new inner tube (£5 for tube and £4 labour) which seemed a bit pricey, but only because I could have done it myself! Albany cycles on albany road is easily noticeable from the outside as being a really cool bike…read moreshop. However i felt more than just dissappointed when i went in looking for a new bike. The first problem is that the shop is tiny, and they dont have a super large selection in any way. They have a few bits and bobs that are specialised such as light weight handle bars etc. The staff are alright, nothing to shout about really, well this is from my experience. Maybe i caught them on a bad day,but i thought they could have been a bit more forthcoming. The major gripe i have is the size of the shop, you can barely turn around in there if there are 5 people in at once. Yet alone sell bikes. Which is hard to do when you can fit around 7 in the shop at one time. Other people i know have been here and said they were helpful so maybe its worth me going back to see if they are, i can the amend my reivew. But at present i would steer well clear. Prices are steep too. I would recomend online purchasing or even one of the other bike shops in coventry, Hawks factory cycles is one, or even the one down gosford street.

I've had a couple of problems with mu bike and on all occasions they have done a great repair job and very quickly. Yes, the shop was small, but the good news is that I think they are moving to bigger premises soon. My guess is that this maybe their first shop and as such it would be surprising if they moved into a warehouse straight away. The difference between these guys and 'online' is that you deal with a real person, and I always prefer that. You get to see exactly what you are buying and I prefer that. You can ask questions. No complaints, it's great to have a bike shop so close, and on this side of town. It'd be a drag to cross town for what ever I wanted - bike wise. Keep up the good work folks!

I was told the build would take about five months so i was okay with that and waited accordingly.Phoned six months later on Jan 19th and asked how my frame was coming along, and was told that it would soon be ready.Recieved a phone call on Feb 18th to confim that the bike frame was being despatched on Monday 21st and would be with me on Weds 23rd Feb.Waited in all day Weds, no frame arrived. Phoned this morning and told that the frame was still in the shop waiting for a seat collar, and that they would send the frame as soon as one came in.I asked why no one phoned up to let me know tthat the frame had not been despatched and i was told they were not open on Wednesdays. Please call me pedantic if you wish too, but when you have spent 1700 quid on a frame you would expext slightly better customer service form such a reputable firm.So as of today Wednesday February 24th, seven months after the original order, i still have no frame, but i guess good thing come to all those who wait. To sum everything up about my Mercian Expeience so far, poor customer service, but i am guessing that the frame will be quality when it arrives.
