Our first night visiting San Francisco and we wanted dinner after walking down to Pier 39 to see what was going on. Fog Harbor had great reviews, and they could seat us in 15 minutes, which they did. The garlic bred with blue cheese was so delicious it is hard to describe. You have to like blue cheese though, because they are generous with it. Our seafood entrees were equally delicious, the service was outstanding, and the restaurant itself is very nice. There are several seafood places to try on the pier, but you cannot go wrong if you try Fog Harbor.

I made reservations here during my most recent vacation to San Francisco, and it did not disappoint. I had low expectations at first for a restaurant on the pier in such a busy tourist area, but I was pleasantly surprised. We were seated pretty quickly when we arrived and got to sit by the window, which was the perfect view, especially at sunset. I asked the waitress for a recommendation, and she suggested a garlic crab dish. It was delicious and came with potatoes and vegetables, which made it feel like a complete meal. I don't really drink alcohol, but they had a nice bar area, and I saw many people enjoying happy hour. Just an FYI, they do add a 5% surcharge to each bill. I think it's a San Francisco thing, but I'm not entirely sure, just wanted to mention it. I will definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again.

We were here during the Memorial Day weekend, May 22. The ambiance is amazing. The atmosphere is calming and peaceful. The food we ordered were delicious and excellent. The drinks were superb and so refreshing. We enjoyed savoring every bite of food. I sincerely love their clam chowder, fresh and delicious. The way they cooked it was like the best chowder I've ever had. Our server was very helpful and he explained what's the ingredients and how it was prepared. Sometimes, we can't get this information, especially when a restaurant is super busy; but, our server took his time to explain every detail from the appetizers to their desserts even though they were busy. And he always seemed to be very attentive to what we need. He is so kind and polite. If you love seafood I will definitely recommend this restaurant 100% wherever you're in SF. It's worth spending your money on food, drinks here at Fog Harbor Fish House. We will definitely come back here.

They say they have the best clam chowder in San Francisco and I whole heartedly agree. Sourdough bowl with it is a must. We also enjoyed some cocktails and the restaurant has cool views. Gets crowded but the waiting area is nice and you can look at the cool shops on the pier.

So glad we chose Fog Harbor for our first trip to San Francisco! The service was great, our waitress was attentive and friendly. She even made some suggestion about things to do in the area. I know this is located in a tourist area but it really felt like a high quality restaurant. We had an outstanding view sitting right next to their giant windows. We could see the boats coming in and out at the dock, Alcatraz and the sea lions! I mean what else could you ask for! The food was good. Huge crab and they even gave me some garlic butter for dipping, YUM! This was a great experience and I'm so happy we picked this one over all the other crab houses in the area.

I LOVE the seared scallop and crab risotto here! It's the best risotto I've had and the scallop was cooked perfectly. Another highlight were the mussel fries. I liked that it felt like its own dish rather than just fries with mussels on top. The clam chowder was delicious and is the best I've had in SF! The crème brûlée is a good choice too if you're wanting dessert. It gets pretty crowded and loud in the restaurant since the tables are relatively close to each other, and waiters are constantly on their feet trying to serve everyone. But in the two times I've been here recently, the service is excellent. The waiters were attentive and on top of things. You can get more bread if you want, but be careful on what kind of water you order. When they ask if you want tap water, still water or sparkling water, expect that you'll be charged for the still and sparkling waters. We didn't know that the still water costed extra, and we were charged $8.50 per bottle. We wish that the extra cost was disclosed at the start, but now we know for next time.

This seafood restaurant on the 2nd floor at the start of Pier 39 overlooking the bay had wonderful service and terrific views of the bay. Try to get a seat by the window. It was packed and we were seated quickly but towards the back and by the waiter station which was just ok. The restaurant was loud and good for big groups of people. They gave us delicious sourdough rolls to start. Known for their clam chowder I gave it a try, topped off with some delicious crab meat. Yummy! However, my Caesar salad came out with regular salad greens and the dressing tasted off :/ Our waiter recommend the house Cabernet which was too light for me - I would have started with a smaller pour had he asked. The Trumbull cab was great but I wasn't expecting it to be $25! I realized once I got the check they automatically gave the larger pour so be forewarned. Overall, worth it for the food and view but expect to pay $$$

I dined in solo at the bar on Friday 6/12/2026 after returning from my Alcatraz tour. The majority of bar visitors seem to be having a drink while waiting on a table. I started with the blue cheese wedge salad which had a ton of toppings and was delicious. I find that most places never put enough dressing on their wedge salads while here almost put a little too much! I then had the Shrimp Brochette entree which was grilled shrimp that came with mashed potatoes and green beans. I really enjoyed my entire meal including my amaretto sour.

We decided to dine at Fog Harbor Fish House after hearing so many positive reviews, and it did not disappoint. While waiting for our table, we relaxed in the beautifully decorated waiting area with a cozy fireplace, such a warm and inviting atmosphere. The young hostess was lovely and worked hard to accommodate everyone despite how busy it was. I started with a cosmo martini while my husband enjoyed another glass of Cabernet. For dinner, I ordered the Shrimp Brochette with grilled shrimp, garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed vegetables, and drawn butter wow absolutely delicious. My husband had the salmon with bok choy and vegetables, which he really enjoyed as well. Overall, it was a wonderful meal and we'll definitely be back. This place gets very busy, so I highly recommend making a reservation!

Fog Harbor Fish House has to be the best restaurant on Pier 39. If you like amazing seafood, shellfish, swooping views of San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz Island, Fishermans Wharf this is the place to be. The drinks, food, service is outstanding. I've eaten countless times and celebrated multiple occasions here. Never had a bad meal yet! Make reservations, bring a jacket and your appetite!

There are tons of window views of the city looking towards Fisherman's wharf and the Golden Gate Bridge

Whenever anyone comes to visit me and our family in San Francisco, I take them to Fog Harbor. Its seafood menu is great, you can't go wrong with any of their offerings . And because it is at the top of Pier 39, it has great views of the city, which adds up to an unforgettable San Francisco experience. The service is also top notch. On our last visit, David made us feel very welcome and made sure our orders were good and our drinks full. Thanks David and Fog Harbor!

Reservations recommended! For being on Fisherman's Wharf and heart of tourist town, really not bad! Service was friendly and there is a nice waiting area with a fireplace. Mussel & fries: 8/10 my favorite, good flavor, not too creamy, and pretty solid. It's an app, but totally shareable and entree worthy Seafood platter for 1: 8/10, good quality seafood and a nice deal for what you get. A bit on the oiler side Crispy calamari: 7/10 nice shareable app! Fish & chips: 7.5/10, solid, not oily Baked oysters: 5/10 too much cheese in my opinion All in all, a nice restaurant for a sit down at the pier. Solid food options and drinks as well!

Do you serve gluten-free pasta? And/or sourdough bread?

    No we do not.

Hoping to have my 64th Birthday at your restaurant ?and can I request by the window. I'm retired from school district of 21 years. And my family wanted to take me to a restaurant, but I don't know where. We will be there Saturday August 23?

We asked for a window seat both times we ate there last month. One time a seat was available and the other time it was nearby. They were busy both days. We didn't have a long wait either. Around 20 minutes.

I see Happy Hour is only in the bar area; are kids allowed to sit there? Also, is the regular menu also available at this time? Thanks!

We offer happy hour at the bar. Unfortunately due to the ABC laws guests must be 21 to sit at the bar. Yes our full menu is available all day.

Is it better to sit inside or outside?

Large picture windows and they make you feel like you're outside. Depends on the weather and time of day when outdoor seating is available.

I'd like to make a reservation for one. Is that possible?

Hello, Yes we can so that for you, What date and time?

Looks like theres mixed reviews about allowing dogs. Are dogs allowed in the outdoor seating area?

    Yes, we allow dogs outside.

I read some of the reviews and somebody mentioned the steak is halal. Is this still true?

The NY steak is from Creekstone Farms and is Halal.

    Where to park?

In the parking garage across the street.

    Do you have halibut?

    It's delicious there

    Is the steak halal?

Our NY steak is from Creekstone farms and is Halal.

    What time is happy hour?

Weekdays from 3-5 at the bar.

What kind of cooking oil do you use? Soy allergy

We have always used canola and olive oil. Please make sure you check with your server on the day and time that you are dining. It's important that all allergies are communicated from the staff to the kitchen.

I'm having family celebration, can you accommodate about 25-30ppl, are you open for lunch, how is parking around your establishment? Waiting to hear from you, thanks.…

Please email our group reservations link on our website for large group reservations. Thank you.

    Hello. Are you dog friendly?

Dogs are allowed on our outdoor seating area when it's open. Unfortunately due to the fire marshall not allowing heaters we are not able to open it every day. You would need to call the restaurant to see if it's open.

What price range is this? We will be bringing family group of 12 and want to enjoy some good seafood, but with that many people we can't afford a super expensive place.

Our menu is available online at fogharbor.com. You can find all the prices of our current menu items.

What is the dress code or typical attire?

    Casual attire is fine.

    Access to Parking?

Although the answers are correct, it's still a hike into Pier 39 to the restaurant. It's about 1/4 to 1/3 of the way in and one floor up. I hope that helps.

Where is a good place to park?

There is a 5 story parking structure across the street. The Pier 39 garage. It is paid parking but we will validate for 1 hour free. If you park on the 3rd floor you can walk across the bridge and we are located right at the front.

Are you open on Mon 12/26 (day after Christmas)?

Yes we will be open 11:00-9:00 pm.

It wasn't just pre-pandemic, it was when north beach was uber community oriented. *sigh* Those days may be gone, but petite lil's is filling that sense of community void rather nicely. As soon as we walked in, we perched ourselves at the bar, & we were made to feel nothing but welcome. I had H with me, & she & I tend to do that thing where we "don't know" what we should order, as if we've never been to a bar before, even though god knows, we have. We are many things, but ingénues are not one of them. No doubt it would be a tired game for a bartender lacking in prowess, personality, & patience. Fortunately for us, you won't find that kind of bartender here. Because we are not ingénues, our days of ordering silly things (fireball), "insider" things (green chartreuse, fernet), or just stupid things (fireball) are happily behind us. O T H E R N O T E S * Friendly staff. * Low-key, locals bar with lounge seating, vinyl lined walls, TVs, and projectors for game day. * No HH specials. * Crisp sound system with DJs spinning hip hop on Fridays and Saturdays. * Dog-friendly but obvs wouldn't bring my dogs here when it's crowded at night. * Clean restrooms. * Cc's accepted but there's a discount if you pay cash.
