Delish food, fast and friendly service. And TV's are tuned for the World Cup games. It's a place to be ....

My favorite neighborhood taproom when I feel like drinking a craft beer or eating a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. Love the different beer selection and the delicious chicken that they have here. The fries are pretty solid here too! When the skies are nice and sunny, the outdoor seating is a great place to sit to enjoy the weather... but come quick because they'll fill up fast!

Despite being well aware of this place, as well as Foghorn Taproom's spot on Irving Street in the Inner Sunset, for whatever reason, it never registered my brain that the two might actually be connected. What makes it even sadder, though, is that I've actually passed both spots before and have had them bookmarked to try for years now! So, you can imagine how much of a pleasant (and also mildly unpleasant) of a surprise it was when I pulled this up on Yelp and discovered they're actually related! Smrt I is. Tucked in between Sushi Bistro and Cinderella Bakery, and somewhat obscured by their parklet, this Foghorn Taproom can be easily missed if you aren't paying attention (side note: this stretch of Balboa Street has some awesome restaurants). That being said, said parklet is pretty awesome, both in terms of being able to drink outside on a warm night and for the additional seating, as this place isn't that big. Similarly, the menu may seems pretty slim, given how it's mostly made up of chicken wings. However, with a dozen different varieties, as well as a mix of salads, bowls, wraps, chicken & waffles, and chicken sandwich, there's actually plenty of food options to choose from. That's without even mentioning their terrific collection of beers, too! -- DRY SPICE CHICKEN WINGS...$8 (5 wings) It's not as unique as some of their other styles, but I don't see dry rubs that often. Thankfully, this was pretty good - it had the perfect amount of rub, the mix of spices/seasoning was tasty, and the chicken itself was so juicy. -- HOT HONEY CRUNCH CHICKEN WINGS...$9 (5 wings) Even though, this was neither as hot nor as sweet as I thought it might be, it was still pretty good. While I wouldn't have minded a bit more heat, this still had a touch of both sweetness and spiciness that was well balanced. -- SEASONED FRIES...$5.50 (small) Not amazing, but not bad either - the fries were crispy and decently well seasoned. That being said, I wish they had been both crispier and seasoned more aggressively. -- LEMON PEPPER CHICKEN WINGS...$8 (5 wings) This was terrific! The wings had a slight tartness from the lemon pepper seasoning, but squeezing some fresh lemon juice from the wedge they include really put this over the top. -- PINEAPPLE BASIL CHICKEN WINGS...$8 (5 wings) Sadly, as interesting as this sounded, it was my least favorite. Mostly, the sauce just felt really ambiguous - it didn't have an overt pineapple or basil flavor to it. That's not to say it was bad, though - it just didn't feel like one or the other to me. -- NASHVILLE HOT CHICKEN TENDER...$5 Easily the best thing I've had here! You can choose from six levels of spiciness, but I opted to go with just medium spicy, which had a very slight kick to it. More importantly, the seasoning on this was really flavorful, the batter was crunchy, and the chicken was moist! Across each flavor that I've tried, the one thing that I love about the wings here are how big they are. Whether it's their drums or their flats, every piece has been really meaty and quite juicy as well. What's more, the workers have been super friendly, too, which is never required but always appreciated. Love that they have a happy hour and Wednesday wings special, too! Given how they're typically airing the Giants/Niners/Warriors when they're on, it can get a little busy here during games, as well as Friday and Saturday nights. However, we've never had an issue getting seats, especially if you're willing to share a table. Either way, I'll definitely be back at some point to try their Nashville chicken sandwich...or to their outposts on Irving or Divisadero!

What a great spot with awesome vibes! They have a nice menu where you can find something to hit the spot easily. Plenty of indoor or outdoor seating available as well as delicious mocktails! Service was quick and friendly. I always appreciate boneless chicken when it comes to chicken & waffles too!

Beer and chicken... it's hard to go wrong. And they didn't! I personally would have loved flufflier pancakes to go with the crispy chicken, but that's just me. They must put something in the waffle batter because it almost had an underlying umami flavor to compliment the chicken. I sat outside to watch a basket all game, no complains. The staff who took my order and brought my food were all kind.

This little dive bar is such a vibe!! Great drinks & even better food. Very very small but the chicken sandwich was amazing. I've heard about it but wasn't sure if it was worth the hype.... 100% it is. I'm such a chicken sandwich snob and this was delicious.

Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich, Korean wings

Korean wings didn't really taste Korean, but they were still very juicy and crispy! The chicken sandwich was pretty big, too, although my chicken was a little dry. We got Xtra Hot Scorpion for our spice levels but neither were very spicy. Lots of beer options and they let you sample some before you order. You order at the counter and pay before sitting. There were a few large groups, and it was good for watching sports!

This was definitely the most surprisingly delicious meal I had while in San Francisco. When some friends of ours recommended we go for wings at a place close to their condo, I was a little less than enthused. Don't get me wrong, I love wings, but where I'm from, there is an over-abundance of great chicken in all forms, and it wasn't necessarily what I wanted while in San Francisco. Or so I thought... Walking into the Foghorn Taproom, it's clearly a smaller neighborhood sports bar with a bit of fusion influence on the typical wing joint. The bevy of wing flavors, some unique menu choices, and much more on offer than just fried things surprised me. My friend and I decided to get a variety of 5 piece bone in wings in 5 flavors, and a large order of their brussel sprouts. Before I get into the food and flavor, this was definitely the most reasonable priced meal of my San Fran stay. Somewhat expected, being a neighborhood place. Wings were just a couple bucks more than what I was used to paying. I'd also say, the wings were large and juicy, as was the brussel sprouts order. Enough in there for 4 people definitely. The brussel sprouts, besides being generous, were perfectly done. Not overly oily, bit of char, sweetness, crisp, but done to the right level. They were impressive. The wings... WOW! Like I said before, large, juicy, bit of crisp on the skin, just the level of doneness you hope for across all the flavors. As far as the flavors go, there certainly was not a bad one, but the Korean flavor absolutely stood alone as the "I would put this sauce on everything" favorite. It was spicy yet tangy, I would guess tamarind is in it, the wings were all generously sauced without swimming in it. The other flavors we had, in order of yum: Hot Honey Crunch, Buffalo, Mango Habanero, Garlic Parm. All I would order again. Also, I kind of like that you order at the counter and don't have to bother with a waiter. In general, I quite enjoyed this experience, and could see why this would be a neighborhood favorite. The chicken is southerner approved, and definitely won me over!

Wing Flavors (best to worst) 1. Pineapple Basil 2. Hot honey crunch 3. Garlic Parmesan 4. Lemon pepper *Small seasoned fries are enough for 2 people *House sauce (aioli) was really good, better than the ranch Logistics: -street parking only -limited indoor seating but they offer outdoor parklets that allow dogs -order first then grab seat -accepts cc

The chicken was juicy, slaw was light and creamy, everything you could want. I loved my fries, i got an extra tender because i didn't think i'd have enough protein but was i proven wrong. They do not skimp on the chicken here. The chicken sandwich had the perfect amount of heat and they do it so well, I was surprised honestly because sometimes you aren't expecting that much but they flavored it all very well. I think it's the perfect place to stop before or after your day in ggp, super close to DeYoung and California Academy.

Great music and DELICIOUS fried chicken sandwiches!!!! Cooked to a crisp, ripe pickles and as tasty coleslaw. Super simple set up with high top tables and a bar. Perfect spot to watch sports and enjoy a casual dining experience. And 14 different varieties of beers on tap. You must stop by!

I stopped by around 4:30 p.m. and there were a few tables where I saw folks finishing up their work day on their laptops with a beer. It's neither overly crowded, nor overly loud, which is perfect for getting work done. Since it was the World Cup and many guests would be camping out for the entire match, table service has a per person minimum spend of $25. This is a really a non-issue because a cocktail is around $15, so two drinks, or one drink with some food, will easily hit this minimum. My wife and I shared crispy pork schnitzel ($17) and an order of their deviled eggs ($12). The deviled eggs were nicely seasoned and included a small salad shrimp on top for some variety. The pork schnitzel was perfectly fried and the potatoes in the included side-salad was well-cooked and not over dressed. I would recommend enjoying the schnitzel with some mustard. Both drinks that I ordered -- an Old Fashioned and a Boulvardier, were well prepared. No notes here. Service here was top notch. Throughout our stay, our server checked up on us multiple times and we never had to wait long to place another order for drinks. Tipping options on the receipt include pre-calculated 18%, 20%, and 22% options (on top of the 5% SF Mandate). Last but not least, the restaurant had clean bathrooms and a bunch of large TV screens on every wall. If you're looking to watch a sports match, Sam's Tavern is the place to go!
