Turnaround time is good and I was kept informed as they made the investigations to see if I was happy to pay for the part and labour to make the fix once they knew what was wrong. I know someone who was advised that their laptop wasn't worth repairing unless it was to recover data, so they are honest and won't try to pressurise you into fixing.

When I decided it wasn't worth the cost given the age of the computer Colin offered his services to purchase a new PC and/or to transfer everything over from the old to the new. Not having actually purchased from them though I can't give them 4 stars. Do post if you try them and let us know if the initial impressions turn into good service!

I was subsequently recommended Computrix through a friend of mine who has used them on several occasions with highly positive feedback. Upon contacting Computrix, I was greeted by a delightful person by the name of Gurminder. He advised me to bring the laptop in with a 'no evaluation fee'. I took my laptop in the morning and recieved a phone call 3 hours later with an update on what the problem was, how much it was going to cost and how long it would take. Firstly I would like to add that the cost of repair was extremely competitive (upon cost comparison with their competitors) and secondly, the turnaround time was quicker than they stated. My laptop came back shining and looking brand new. I have complete faith and confidence to go back to Computrix should any other issue occur. They can fix a range of computer issues and do onsite board repairs. I highly recommend Computrix. Thank you for restoring confidence back in my laptop. I have since had no issues with it at all.

Shockingly bad advice IMHO. Misdiagnosed the real problem, installed a ripped off version of windows 7, so I had to reinstall to get legal again. Charged me £40 for....nothing, still had the same problem. Took the PC elsewhere and they fixed it for £10 in 1 day. All that was wrong was the BIOS settings. They are pleasant enough people, probably fine as an internet cafe, and parts supply if you know what you want. But they are not so good a equipment repair.

I required the whole dress to be taken up from the zip by 2 inches with a very tricky mesh material and it only cost £20.00. I am delighted with the outcome of the dress and would like to thank all the staff at Excel for their excellent service. This one does the job and there's usually a machine free when you need one. Last time I checked, it was more expensive than Headington Launderette, but sometimes it's worth paying a bit extra to avoid carrying your laundry further. A wash costs from £3-£4.50. The machines are card-operated and you can buy cards from the internet shop next door. I find this quite annoying, especially as I think they have a minimum spend limit of around £30 (it used to be £28). Not good for one-off use, or when you're in a hurry. I still think it's easier to look for change. They've got driers as well, and it's quite a sociable place, but lots of minus points for the confusing card system.

Personally, I don't think it's worth it, although everything can be washed an ironed in 48 hours. The main reason people use this is for items that are difficult to wash yourself, like suits, ballgowns, leather, suede and rugs. I know people who find it great for duvet covers and general upholstery, and they're now in possession of a rather impressive looking carpet cleaning machine with a delightful sign announcing how many kg of human skin are in the average carpet. Lovely. The staff are professional and the prices reasonable, although they vary from item to item. Generally if you're going to use their dry-cleaning services, you're at their mercy price-wise, especially if it's the only way of getting a particular stain off. With this in mind, I'm grateful they don't seem like much of a rip-off and the nice crisp, clean feel of an item you thought you'd lose that's now wearable again is worth an awful lot.
