An incredible collection of paintings, antiques and more nestled in a renaissance palazzo and donated by A British man, Herbert Percy Horne ( who was a scholar, architect & collector). Herbert had a dream to put all of these wonderful pieces in one place, and eventually live here but only made it as far as outfitting the space, he later donated this collection to the city which is now a museum open until 1pm.
While the pieces themselves are really interesting, in also appreciate the initial intro, what made me give it three stars was that the museum for me, was very boring. There weren't any panels are information on the works other than a map of the items, name of artworks, date. Clearly this is a place you need to come and visit with an experienced guide in order to realize it's full potential.
I do hope to come back and get more excited about Hornes collection, preferably with someone who can mix a bit of the history and storytelling with each piece. Note you cannot take photos except for the courtyard and windows. read more
