Even though we were pretty late (around 10pm when the Osteria is originally scheduled to close) we were kindly greeted and served. The restaurant is situated in a lovely street that branches right off Porta Genova. The street is filled with small restaurants and cafés and was teeming with people at the time. Also, there's the river promenade at Naviglio Grande just a mere couple 100 metres away. Osteria Via Pré itself fits right in there because it is a small, cozy restaurant with only a couple of tables and a bar inside, while most of its chairs and tables are located outside, facing the street. We had a very attentive, nice waiter who conversed with us in Italian, English and German and generally gave us the feeling that he was there for us whenever we wanted something. For appetizers we shared a Foccaccia which was filled with molten cheese. Absolutely delicious though the serving was a little small for two people. In any event, I think it's a positive thing that the appetizer actually left us craving more (food). For the main course both of us ate Lasagne alla Genovese. Frankly, I've never had Lasagne with pesto this green and refreshing. As far as pestos go, this one was absolutely amazing. Rich with herbal aromas, not to oily but just the perfect consistency. The lasagne was housemade and also perfectly al dente. The housewine we had (red one) was to our liking though by no means spectacular. Even after we had finished, the waiter kept an eye on us and our needs, served us a free bottle of water and chatted with us about this and that. In this regard, the mediterranean kind of mentality and atmosphere were really carried across positively. In terms of prices, Osteria Via Pré falls right into the Milano standard. Good restaurants in nice locations like this always demand prices like this in Milano, so I think if you're in Milano and you want to have a good meal, it's not reasonable to skip this one. It's as pricy as most others, offers great food, service and the location is probably more lovely and romantic than most of the crammed city center.

I think the decor is great, if you want to grab lunch or come by to read the paper while sipping coffee, this place has plenty of room and a great selection of sweet and savory items. The lunch menu is extensive, with great salad options, seafood dishes or make-your-own-sandwich type of options. The vibe is that of a place serving regional food, selected to give you more options than you can hope for. Even the chocolates are high-end, coming from a chocolatier in Piemonte, and still reasonably priced. My "dose" ran out unreasonably fast, though, but that's a different story. This is a new establishment, they're still ironing out the kinks, but I'm sure you'll have a great time for a quality snack or meal, and when in doubt, the personnel can suggest the best option. There were actually only a couple of sofas at the entrance, so I'm not sure why it's called "sofa" cafe. The cafe itself is so cramped, it could be organized better in my opinion. As I was sitting at my table, pretty much every person who came into the shop seemed to want to use the toilet, so the line was very long and I kept bumping into each person. As for the coffee and pastry I ordered, it was just about ok, nothing special. The service was also very slow. I wouldn't recommend this place especially if you're going in alone and want to spend some time working or to read a book.

Not the best in the world but certainly better than the average. I would highly recommend the Moscow Donkey for a warm summers day as it was very refreshing! The only thing I would mention is the service was pretty poor. It took us about 10-15minutes to get our orders taken, and then we had to wait at least another 10 minutes for our drinks to arrive. If you're not in any rush (like us) then it's perfectly fine, but I would imagine it being quite annoying if you had somewhere to be afterwards. Pinch is a total replica of American hipster craft cocktail bars, in Milan. The bartenders wear suspenders and do tricks with shakers. I'm waiting for an ironic mustache, preferably like the Moretti guy has. The drinks are exceptional. When I was there, they had one made of green tomatoes and mountain pine liqueur that was a taste party in my mouth. The aperitivo snacks are also really excellent, a small tray of various interesting crunchy things. No potato chips -- we're talking samosas in wonton wrappers with sweet chili sauce, Indian curry rice, a ham-arugula roll, and baba ghanoush. My second drink didn't quite match the first, but it was close. Also, the only bar in Milan that gave me *zero* grief about wanting a simple glass of tap water. In fact, they just give you one. Mega bonus points for that. I'm sick of paying for "aqua panna Toscana" that I neither need nor want. Been drinking Milan tap water in my hotel room for four days now. It's fine. Pour it on. Food offerings from the regular menu are a little hit or miss, but on the other hand, I had kind of stuffed myself with aperitivo. Had I been hungry, might've been a different story.

Pinch is a new bar right in Ripa di Porta Ticinese, not in the pedestrian part of the Naviglio, which means they don't have outside seating - except for the tables at the windows. It has a retro vibe, as if you entered a 1920s bar, dim lights, soft 1920's music; elegant but not ostentatious atmosphere. The cocktails list has about 15 signature cocktails, all with an explanation of the alcoholic level (medium or high), taste (fresh, spicy, bitter, etc.) and of course the ingredients, classic cocktails with a twist, made extremely well, with good ingredients. They also have a food menu but I didn't check it out since we were there for the aperitivo - which then turned into after-dinner drinks. I had the "South of the Border" with tequila, chartreuse vert, lime juice, sugar syrup and fresh mint, it was fresh and delicious, then I had another one and another one... just to be sure they were made perfectly ;) For the aperitivo, our cocktails were 8 euro each and the waiter (who looked like Robert Pattinson) brough a small tray with some snacks: rice and salad in small glasses, chips, mini-sandwiches and a couple of vol-au-vents - not enough to fill our stomachs completely but also not the average greasy aperitivo food. Scrumptious Kobe rump steak tataki, topped with a creamy bean sauce and sweet caramelized red onions has to be the most wonderful thing I've ever tasted. The meat was tender and juicy, and the creaminess of the sauce complimented it perfectly. Even though I had enjoyed every last bite of my food and was feeling full, I knew I just had to try dessert. I opted for something light - the raspberry parfait in mango sauce - because fruit is always a great way to end a meal, right? Right! The parfait was topped with a red, ripe strawberry, which I saved for last, of course. I can't wait to come back to Globe and enjoy a cocktail, unwind in the lounge, and even try their dinner menu.
